I'm from out of state, and decided to take an orange theory class locally since I have an unlimited…read moremembership which allows access to all gyms nationwide. An hour or so after I book my class, I get a call from Kelcie who very rudely claims that I am not a member and I will be charged 40 dollars if I don't provide her with local mail on my arrival. Red flag #1 I called home to my local gym, and they assured me that all classes at all locations are included. I attended the class, and was charged a no show fee by kelcie to my card on file. After asking kelcie if this was ethical or legal, she had a full on meltdown and proceeded to tell me that it was "her gym, her rules." I think kelcie is confused at the fact that she just works there, and does not in fact own orange theory. Each location is individually owned, and allows for these kind of discriminatory, unscrupulous, and unethical practices to go unchecked. If you love orange theory, be sure to join a location that values your money and membership. Luckily for me, I am not local to this location.

The coaches push and encourage you through the workout! "High Energy and Positive Vibes"--Coco-Channel I've now been attending this gym for nearly three years and I still love it. For four months, I had two gym memberships - Orangetheory & Team Octopus (martial arts gym, I take…read morekickboxing). I signed up for OTF cause I knew it would only be a temporary commitment. I am running the Peachtree Road Race this year. I may not run the full 10k but I will finish it. My goal to learn to be a runner outweighed my wallet during these times. If OTF wasn't month-to-month contract, I would've never signed up. Two years ago, I've done a free one day pass at the Sandy Springs location through Yelp and loved it. The price was a setback and I declined the offer. What makes the Stone Mountain OTF location great are the new location (new and clean equipment) and the great trainers. Because of the new location, I received a better deal to sign up as an Elite, which is 8 classes per month. Still seems pricey to some but it worked out for me because of my commitment for kickboxing, as well. Now I have a few weeks until my big 10k and I am no longer a member at OTF. I dropped the former rating from 5 to a 4 for a few reasons. Other OTF locations on Yelp have bad reviews for their cancellations, still charging and/or making it hard for members to leave. I did not have that problem. However, I do think OTF does not monitor or document clients' accounts well. This is what happened to me. After joining, I decided to not the heart rate monitor that goes around your torso, right below the heart area. I opted for the heart rate monitor on the wrist. It is hard for me to get splat points. I have a lower resting heart rate. I am active outside of OTF. I mean, I do pay two gym memberships and occasionally go to the parks to hike and/or run. I knew the price for the heart rate monitor wrist band was $30 more. What got me is that I was charged TWICE for this. I asked about it and first, got an excuse why I was charged. Later it was corrected and staff apologized and reversed it. I understand mistakes or oversights. When I made my decision to terminate my membership, I turned in my 30 days notice and filled out the cancellation form. I still had 30 days left to use all 8 of my classes. When I tried to sign up for more classes, I was denied access to book online. I contacted OTF, they found the problem and fixed, they terminated it early even after I was charged for that month. It was fixed immediately but I just felt that the staff should do a better job at attention-to-detail. Lastly, I have to give a shout out to the trainer, Coco. She was the only trainer who understood and listened to me talking about my low resting heart rate. She asked questions and learned about my fitness level. On top of that she showed me how to challenge myself and I finally got a few splat points. I really appreciate that. She is also really encouraging and is always positive. OTF is still one of the best workouts I've ever done, besides kickboxing. I just do not enjoy running and it's more pricier than kickboxing for me. Overall, I still recommend the workout to those who need a challenge, need a change in their workout, or want to learn how to be a better runner.

I saw CrossFit Chattahoochee as they were first building out the facility and stopped by to check it out. Even though they were busy building out the equipment and laying the flooring, they stopped to talk to me and invite me back for class once they were ready to go. During my first class, the coach pointed out several improvements in my form that my previous coaches had never recognized. I knew right then that this was going to be the change I needed to take my fitness to the next level. I dropped my previous gym and signed up with CFC and it has been the best year in my personal fitness. We have a phenomenal group of coaches (Mike, Andres, Justin and others) and are led by an amazing head coach, Steve Lewter. These coaches don't just teach but are CrossFit athletes as well. From the recent college athlete to the 40 year old who hasn't lifted weights since high school (ME) to the 60 year old grandma, the coaches at CFC do everything possible to allow you to perform to your potential. i couldn't be happier to be a part of the CrossFit Chattahoochee family.
