I'll start with the positive in that it was a clean facility and for the 2 times attended the first week, the coach was attentive and assisted in providing instructions for the workouts. During one of my workouts, however, there was a significant safety issue with a broken garage door spring. The door was still used that day and no signage was provided to indicate there was an issue or risk of the door closing due to lack of sufficient support.
For me, because of the class schedule, I found that while I was able to get to class twice that first week, I was not able to attend get back over the following 2 weeks. I sent the owner an email 20 days in to let him know I was not able to work my schedule to use the facilities and to cancel my membership. After a week with no response, I find a $150 charge applied to my credit card for another month of membership. I wrote an email to the owner again confirming my cancellation and requesting a refund. This time he did respond indicating that I had not met their 10 cancellation window and would not be providing a refund. I was very surprised by his response as he was the one that 'signed me up' and never indicated there was a 10 day period. Presumably it is somewhere in the fine print, however, this company does not provide a copy of the contract for a consumer to review. As of this writing, he still has not provided a copy.
Ultimately, I may not receive a refund despite not using the facilities, but I want anyone considering using this business to be aware of their practice of money over customer service and "doing the right thing." If you decide to use them, get a copy of your contract up front and do not trust the owner to provide you any of his "fine print" gotchas. I hope this will help others avoid the same situation. read more
