Needless to say no one bothered to show up or call or email me that they were unable to make it. I got done early with an errand I needed to complete so I got there at 2:30pm and the doors were locked, so I call and no answer. I wait 15 minutes and try the door again, it's still locked. I try other doors and they are locked as well. I call again and no answer. I wait until 3 pm, door is still locked so I call again, no answer so I leave a voicemail and send a text no with no response. I wait until 3:20pm thinking maybe someone was running behind, nothing. I leave a message on the webpage on the contact us form same day. Still have not received a single response from anyone. In my opinion, this is very unprofessional business practice. If you value your time, I would recommend staying away from this business, complete waste of time. Thanks for nothing. I would rate zero stars if I could.

Revive! Fitness Training provides one of the most intense workouts you can find anywhere. Here, you…read moreuse body weight and interval training in I found out about this program through livingsocial.com, where I got a great deal and got a great deal on 1 months worth of classes. Before I went in, I read that the focus was on using body weight, and having a very supportive environment - small classes, no yelling, just encouragement. All of these things turned out to be true - and the first day I went in, I had the most intense 40 minutes of exercise I think I've ever experienced. It was more difficult than when I started P90X when I was out of shape. At Revive!, you do interval training - a set of exercises you do all the way through, take a break, do it again, break, do it again. I had to sit down because I almost passed out after the first set - and I'm a 21 year old college student who is in shape. The workouts are very rigorous and challenging, which is important to note, because some people might consider a group which focuses on being supportive rather than "tough" and consists mostly of women from their late twenties to early fifties (including a beautiful woman who is -very- pregnant) couldn't possibly be enough of a challenge. It definitely is. To return to the atmosphere of support - the first day I went, I probably completed 50-75% of the routine (with a lot of extra breaks!), Theresa was telling me to have a seat and chew some gum before I even realized I needed a break (and I'm glad she did, because after the fact, I realized that was exactly the way I felt right before I fainted in the past!). Throughout the workout, she will also periodically come around, not just to make sure your form is correct - but also to give certain students alternate ways to do that exercise if they are limited because they are out of shape, have certain injuries, or other limiting factors. The prevailing image of "Get in shape fitness!" is to grit your teeth, be tough, and suffer through it. The model at Revive! fitness training is different, and perfectly illustrates how a trainer and atmosphere where encouragement and care replaces yelling and, as a result, instead of being an easier alternative, helps the students challenge themselves to reach their best when it comes to personal fitness.

Ballet for Rookies is a class that is accessible to all levels and ages. Christina, the owner/instructor, does an amazing job teaching and encouraging students! She brings her years of experience (professional) and education (MFA in Dance) to create a fun and challenging class. Christina encourages creativity and playfulness. I've always worried about looking silly while exercising, but I felt at ease in this class (and dare I say, occasionally I felt as graceful as a dancer?). She cues modifications for differing levels and she is great about correcting form. You can tell she wants her students to enjoy the class and be safe while doing it so that they can dance for many years to come! I've taken many Barre classes, but secretly felt that they were more of an aerobics class (or the jazzercise for the new millennium). I loved that these classes focused solely on ballet! In no way did it feel like less of a workout. You will definitely feel it in your legs the next morning!

I'm not much of a dancer, and ballet doesn't appeal to me that much, but this friend recommended it so highly that I gave it a shot. Christina Providence, the teacher, is amazing. She encourages everyone to get comfortable in their bodies, and, as simple as this sounds, has had a profound impact on my life. It turned out I had all these injuries that Christina helped me realize and then work through. The basic upshot is that she leads us through lots of restorative routines (aka, a lot of laying on the floor or rolling around) that have more or less completely healed up all sorts of chronic injuries I had from years of playing sports, being in front of the computer, and general tension. So, the Tuesday night Ballet for EveryBody class is a great place to start. It's really affordable, accessible, etc. I'd thought that the other classes were probably too specialized for me. But, about a year ago, I entered into a really stressful period of my life that unfortunately isn't showing signs of letting up any time soon. Christina recommended that I try the Monday night class, which she said was pretty good for stress-reduction. It's AMAZING. We do typical pilates things on the equipment but also a lot of restorative things like short meditations, and things that feel very relaxing (again, a lot of lying on the floor) but that are actually really good at releasing tension and even strengthening. I legitimately credit this class with helping me manage this incredibly stressful thing in my life. I played competitive sports until I was 26, and, even at my peak, I had a stubbornly weak and puffy core. Now, at 34, weight management is easier than its ever been, and I'm pretty strong and lean. I honestly think this is because of the precise exercises we do in the classes I've taken here. Oh--I also get reiki now, once a month, from a different practitioner, also named Christina, and it's been amazing as well. The best way for me to explain it is that the effects of it last a lot longer than a regular massage. It also helped stop me from grinding my teeth at night. Anyway. I wrote so much here because I really can't recommend this highly enough. I feel like this studio taught me how to listen to my body, and that's no small feat. I should also mention that there is no body shaming, ever, and that strikes me as unique. They never rush, they meet you exactly where you are, and the teachers I've taken classes from all seem genuinely excited to be there. So, yeah. I'm a Core Poetry Evangelist, basically, because I started off as a skeptic and the classes there have helped me immensely.

I'm nearly 61 and stronger and healthier than I've ever been. They helped me lose 70 lbs which was cool when I got to walk my daughter down the aisle at her wedding feeling good about myself and not worrying about the pictures to follow. It was even cooler when nearly 3 years later I held my granddaughter in my arms and felt confident I would be healthy and active and functional as she grew up. Enough about me. The concept of small group personal training flat out works. Never more than 5 people to coach so you get personal attention. You also get inspired, pushed, and motivated by the other folks. Worried about your age or your fitness level? Don't be. They make it work. The workouts are varied so you never get bored. Have or had some injuries? Don't worry about it. The coaches will modify anything so you stay healthy (or get better) and still provide you a challenging workout. By the way, I could do a separate review just on how good all the coaches are. Finally I will tell you that I assumed a high level of expertise from the coaches. What I didn't expect was to make friends and feel part of a community like I have and do. Bottom line this place is special. You should check it out.
