They're…read morenothing remarkable to look at, nor very puffed up, but they're a balanced combination of cookie (crisp and crumbly) on the outside while fluffy and crumbly on the inside with a slight sweetness. Their pasties, their specialty, I'm not really a fan of. They're enormously overstuffed, but the crust is tasteless and the filling is mostly potato with less than 20% actual meat. However, filling was balanced in flavor. Guess I just prefer the pastries, because I also preferred their Apple Turnover to the pasties.

Glad we did!! I had the beef pasty, my wife the lamb and mint. They were big, tasty, juicy and worth our time and money. According to our waitress Pengenna are the only vendor in Tintagel who make their own pasties - according to her the other places just buy them frozen which perhaps explains why they are soooo dreadful. If you don't believe me try one next time you are at Kings Cross station in London - from a little stall you can buy a pasty much much better than our first two in Cornwall Anyway - our pasties were very good, probably 50% bigger than down the road and not much more than 1/2 the price!!!! No comparison!

The set menu allows the diner to experience an array of flavors and textures, and the small plate portions make it possible to fully enjoy each course. The cozy, bright interior provides an intimate setting perfect for couples. A stone's throw from the Port provides a beautiful view that enhances the whole experience. Each course was artistically presented and introduced me to flavor combinations I'd never imagined. I was truly moved by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in every dish. Outlaws is hands down one of the best places I've ever been.

The restaurant is tiny and boasts what is possibly the smallest and most ingenious bathroom in the world! The menu changes daily and is full of Nathan's signature touches. Portions are small and designed to be shared like Tapas. Pick five or six between two of you and you get a great variety of top quality fish dishes. Be aware that it's quite a walk from any real parking, as it's tucked away down in the bottom of the village, right against the harbour and flanked on three sides by pubs and looks down the harbour slipway. Also, talk people should wear a helmet due to an extremely low ceiling with exposed beams. The food, though, is awesome!!! :) Definitely Michelin quality.

I went for two starters, so 2nd one was: whelks on sourdough bread. Yes. With the right amount of chewiness, watercress on the side...I cannot express how much I loved it. Didn't eat bread as am not a bread person but shell fish....yum. The menu didn't have dairy-free desserts so they made me dairy-free pavlova which was so absolutely perfect - I'm taking off my imaginary hat. Service was good - attentive and making me feel very welcome. If you're ever in Newquay - go for it.

The only thing she could eat here was chips. I had the mixed fish linguini, my partner had some chips and my daughter had the children's tomato linguini. The Fish was very special; freshly cooked prawns and lovely mussels. The linguini in both dishes was cooked to perfection. Service was quick and polite. The chips were amazing which was brilliant for my partner as all holiday she has seen everyone around her eat lovely food while all she could eat was the most basic things. The restaurant still has an old charm to it, it hasn't been polished into a chic modern restaurant, and I love it more for this.

SALMON, OTTERS & DUCKS The Daily Telegraph wrote: Henry Williamson,…read moreborn in 1895, served in the trenches during the First World War. This extremely sensitive, highly strung and romantic soul never recovered from the horror and the disillusionment he experienced in Flanders. From 1921 onwards he buried himself in the little North Devon village of Georgeham, seeking an escape from inner torment by exploring and writing about the wild and unfrequented landscapes of Exmoor. Growing up in the London suburbs, I was eternally gratefully for his highly-acclaimed works 'Salar the Salmon' and 'Tarka the Otter' which would instantly transport me to my beloved North Devon, where I spent so many happy times visiting family during the summer school holidays; a real home from home. My parents went back to their original home there upon retirement and I still visit my mother there when possible. Tonight we must go the Rock at Georgeham, she announced during a recent visit, so go we did. I had a vague memory of having gone there many years ago, but vague it remained. It is essentially an old timbered pub, with a modern conservatory. Food is served in both areas and we decided to sup some Rioja in the traditional area. Photo link: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd76/Textklick/Qype%20pix/067bf03a.jpg The menu is very convincing and even more so the specials menu, which is displayed on a board but also available in print. Photo link: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd76/Textklick/Qype%20pix/4ac9c2a0.jpg I thought that that the 'Georgeham cured ham' sounded pleasingly alliterative, poetic or whatever, and it certainly did not disappoint. The pan roasted duck breast was sensational, although I did not take so well to the 'gooseberry tarte tatin' which was 'tarte by name and tart by nature'. I think duck really deserves something a bit sweeter, but if anything it was my fault because I chose it. La contessa and la dowager contessa were delighted with their choices. Reasonable prices, excellent food, great ambiance and also friendly staff who definitely seemed just that bit more professional than average. Do take a look at the excellent website and if you are in that neck of the woods, you will not regret visiting.
