If you must know, I decided to finally pull the trigger and get my lips surgically altered. Yes, that is right - I touched my face for the first time after 35 years ! The procedure is called the bullhorn lip lift. This is where they remove excess tissue from underneath your nose, lifting the upper lip for a more luscious pout, while reducing the size of the nose to lip space, giving a more youthful appearance while allowing more teeth to show. What I really wanted was a fuller top lip with a more pronounced shape to be in proportion with the bottom lip, which is exactly what I received and more! Everything looks so natural and matches my face beautifully! Dr Altman is truly an artist; not only did he modify my lip precisely as requested, he made the most perfect, practically invisible incision that matches the fold under my nose. I am ecstatic with my results ! I should also mention that Dr Altman is a phenomenal doctor! He was patient with me, understanding of what I wanted and communicated with me every step of the way. Also from the side, it's uneven - the bridge doesn't go down straight, there is a dip. From a functional standpoint, my breathing has not changed - still very congested. When I went to go see him for my follow up, he got very upset when I said my breathing wasn't better, he looked inside at my nose and he simply said, "It's better than it was before." Terrible bedside matter. He was super nice when I first met him, but nasty and dry during my follow up. In regards to the uneven bridge, he said he would put some liquid silicon on my nose. I thought since he did a few celebrities noses, he would do a great job, but honestly I should have hunted for another surgeon. Also, I spoke to a plastic surgeon who just specialized in rhinoplasties, he said the closed approach is very outdated and used for very minor cases. He also said it's a quick way for surgeons to make money in the sense the patient is in and out of the OR quickly and he they can move on to the next patient fast. Find another surgeon!
