Stay away from Cross Country Moving Group, INC
at all costs. My experience with them was, and continues to be, an absolute NIGHTMARE.
Crooks!
In September of 2020 I selected this moving company after spending weeks of getting quotes from movers for a relocation across the country. That said, I booked them and paid up front for the services. Upon arrival, move out day sep 30th, I was approached by the movers essentially demanding another $1600 right there because the items, which I had specifically listed and confirmed with the movers on a binding contract, were "more" than what they had quoted me for, and if I refused to pay the difference, they weren't loading my stuff for transport. Panicked, lease ended that day.I wrote a check to avoid any further issues and get my stuff enroute to Georgia/He had me initial blank paperwork or threatened to cancel the move. Told me They would call when they were close to destination ( delivery was scheduled for Oct 3rd) they never disclosed they were going to store my things in a warehouse until they found a driver!! October 3rd came and went, Fast forward to over a month later. Delivery day just seemed to have gone completely out the window. To make matters worse, there was absolutely ZERO contact from the company regarding the status of my furniture and I only found out about the status of it by calling on multiple separate occasions after week 3 of waiting. Finally, 34 days later, a truck arrives at my new home in Georgia. Upon being greeted by the drivers I was told immediate that I had to pay another $1600 COD!!or they weren't even opening the truck. As soon as I handed it over and the driver and helper opened the truck it was visible to see that EVERYTHING - and I mean EVERYTHING - inside was absolutely DESTROYED. The exact term that the driver used was saying, "this is a busted load," and he personally suggested I started taking photos and videos as the unloading was happening - he went as far as having us video call dispatch, and he confirmed they DROPPED THE LOAD OFF THE LOADING DOCK LAST MONTH!! I demanded a refund and they simply declined and refuse to assume any and all responsibility. We spent days cataloging pictures of the missing and destroyed items, filled out all their paperwork, all the while and to date NO human has ever addressed this with me. My entire life was, literally, in their hands and they ruined everything I owned, leaving me with absolutely nothing, and taking all of my money in the process. By the end of the whole ordeal, I was out over $4500 and had nothing. On top of all of my possessions being smashed to pieces, couch partially missing and stained, and there was dirt, rock and ash soot all over everything - especially all of my nice and expensive business suits, mixed into everything were broken shards of glassware from what was my kitchen dining set, and things were also missing - including, a packed and wrapped up Xbox, laptop, art work lots of art, designer clothes, ( and the clothing haphazardly tossed into the bags had zippers down, no hangers as if they had literally tired them on, handbags and shoes gone..?) amongst other electronics. So, clearly, not only were my items dropped and destroyed - they were scavenged and picked through by either warehouse workers or drivers for their own personal use. All of my photo albums and personal family items, which are irreplaceable, are gone too. What I also found shocking was that mixed in with the carnage of what once were my possessions, I kept finding items that did not even belong to me (such as a bowling ball & somes underwear!! ) which leads me to believe that I am not the only customer who was having their possessions mistreated in their hands.I refused to sign the bill of lading , they later sent altered paperwork
After months unresponded to phone calls and emails, me taking photos of the few destroyed items that actually made it through in transit, and my daughter and I making itemized lists of the items that were ruined and missing ( 350 pics)the company finally got back to me saying that they would offer me something for my troubles - that "something" was $80. Eighty whole dollars for $4500 worth of services NOT rendered and tens of thousands of dollars of destroyed home and personal items. At the very least, I was expecting them to take a faction of responsibility and offer me a refund on the services, or lack thereof, that I received - but, no, they say $80 as sufficient for the mental anguish and negligent destruction of property that they subjected me to. At that point I went to the Better Business Bureau, who reached out to the company on my behalf, but they still declined responsibility. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND THEIR AFFILIATES AS YOU CAN! THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED! They will literally destroy everything you own and not lose a night of sleep over screwing innocent people over and lining their pockets in the process! read more
