Biggest scammers and manager's level of IQ at zero. Family member's car was impounded by polk county sheriff. Went to pick it up on Friday at 12 PM. Presented a passport and was told that he needed a "government ID" to take possession of the car(first hint of the manager's intelligence level). Family member was sent and went to the DMV (without telling me) and spent 3 hours at the line to be told that ID were not issued on the spot. I called my family member to check if he has the car already and he explained what he was told at crooms. Immediately called Crooms to understand why a US passport is not considered an ID under their special eyes. Manager's answer is "Well listen buddy, I don't have to explain to you anything because you're not the car's owner, but let me tell you. We have to follow rules and our regulation with the sheriff department states that a government ID has to be present" I go on to tell him that a passport is a government issued ID. He goes well, its not issued in Florida. (Dude, so if I show you a drivers license from Georgia you would also decline it?). I noticed that arguing with this individual will take me nowhere I hung up and call the sheriff so that someone can make this dude understand that a passport is a dam valid ID. Finally someone from the sheriff department calls the manager and educate him on the ID situation. I call back and the manager tells me that he only accepts cash. (Tax evasion?) I ask why and he gives me this explanation that people have done charge backs in their credit card ( pro tip, take picture of the ID as proof of payment incase someone does a charge back you can fight it, but we all know this. You're just avoiding tax). Bank its closed now and can't make it to the bank, its Friday. Manager tells me that any pick up in the weekend cost an extra $50.00 dollars. (I believe this was their whole intention since the beginning ). Manager refuse to not charge the extra $50.00 even after they messed up and waste family member's time by not accepting the initial form of ID presented. Moral of the story? Don't do business with Crooms. In my case family member had no choice but I hope this review is read by the sheriff department and stop using them to impound cars. read more

Andy was dispatched for our tow. Andy called me to let me know his estimated time of arrival. Andy was extremely polite and courteous with me. The trucks are very nice. I actually felt bad because our van leaked transmission fluid all over his truck bed. I highly recommend them for towing. read more

CROOM'S FLEET SERVICES (Combee Rd) Never again... Checked the reviews and thought I'd give them a shot, you know, to go with "local" rather than big corporation. The a/c went out in my RV, so I took it to Croom's on Combee Rd on a Wednesday. Went over a list of things with Shane that I wanted to see if they could do--the most important being fixing the cab a/c. Some stuff they couldn't do (roof-top a/c needed checking/cleaning), which I can understand. Some stuff was not necessarily mechanical, more cosmetic, but I asked if they could do it because you never know if you don't ask. Shane said they could check on it and give me some estimates. I specifically asked that he call me and give me an update when I went over my list with him before lunch. Come Friday afternoon (2 pm), I hadn't heard anything, so I called Shane. He wasn't at the shop, but said he would get with the mechanic and get more info and call me with an update when he got back there. He did tell me that they were having trouble finding some parts, and that the a/c compressor needed to be replaced. He also let me know that it would be a few hundred dollars, and coupled with the fact that they charge $115 an hour, and the job would take about 10 hours, they didn't want me to have a heart attack. Too late. I waited for Shane's call, expecting to hear from him before they closed shop for the weekend. No one called. Monday morning, I still hadn't received a phone call. I called before lunch and spoke to Harold. Told him I needed to come and pick up the rv. He was nice enough to let me know that I needed an alternator belt, as it broke. It was not broken when I dropped it off. Get there to pick up my rv but the front door is locked; had to hunt down someone around back who was on his lunch break & he takes me into the office. Don't know the female's name, but I ask for the belt so I can take it to the parts store for replacement (easier when you have the old belt if there are questions as to the size). She calls one of the guys and tells him to go & get my belt from the ground out in the parking lot! At this point, I don't even know if it WAS my belt. I paid them for 2 hours of "checking out the van" and it was probably the easiest money they ever made, in my opinion. I took it to another shop that fixed it IN ONE DAY, even with having to special order a line for the a/c. AND they charged me less than half of the approximate $1200 that Croom's quoted me! Pretty fast service for a roadside service but I was told $500 for a new tire and the fix and after the tire was replaced I was told I needed to pay $655 because apparently he forgot about the taxes and fees. What a rip-off and I highly recommend calling another service company read more

I wouldn't call anybody but Crooms Fleet Service for repair on my RV. Tim, their technician, didn't ever change out a transfer switch, but he did the job like he does it everyday. An awesome guy.
