My husband and I LOVE Dr. Crookes! I started seeing another doctor to confirm I was pregnant, but that doctor wasn't the right fit for me so I decided to try Dr. Crookes. Boy, am I glad I did. She is so friendly, fun, and professional. She'll make you smile and made me feel comfortable throughout my journey (especially since this was my first pregnancy). My husband came to all my appointments and she gave him time to ask questions as well and keep him involved in the appointment which was great. We love her Irish charm. Only complaint is that she often talks under her breath and fast with her accent so you may have to ask her to repeat herself to fully understand. -Waiting Room: Clean, comfortable, never crowded!, and didn't ever have to wait too long - Office Staff: Friendly and professional -Parking/Location: It's right across the street from the UCLA Santa Monica hospital which is very convenient and ensures Dr. Cookes will stop in to see you when and after you deliver and also be on time for appointments. Hard part is you either get lucky and get a metered street spot and walk (being pregnant this isn't the best option) or pay $20 to park underground. -Delivery/After: She came at a perfect time for my baby to be delivered and walked me through the whole thing. She also made everyone laugh throughout the process which lightened the mood but was still serious to get the job done right. She also performed my son's circumcision which went well. -Other notes: When taking a tour at the UCLA hospital prior to delivery the staff all had such positive things to say about Dr. Crookes. Our baby's pediatrician and my PCP also had great things to say. It was very comforting to hear those things prior to delivery. If my husband and I decided to have another child, I'll be calling Dr. Crookes. :) read more

I went into early labor at 37.5 week with my second child and dr crookes was on call for my ob being out. She is one tough cookie and I loved this about her !! I was so adamant about doing a natural delivery and she kept to it to make sure it happened for me. It turned out that me , my newborn daughter and dr crookes all had the honor of sharing the same bday !! Dr crookes thank you for being our rock !! read more

Dr Crookes delivered my daughter. She was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and exuded a confidence I found very comforting. Her vast experience with doulas back in Ireland as well as the rest of her long career had given her the opportunity to see everything. I had several difficulties during my delivery that she handled with the utmost professionalism and expertise. She put my mind at ease and helped me feel as calm and confident as one can through delivery. I can't recommend her highly enough. read more

Suffice it to say I am choosing a new health plan based on whether or not I get to keep Olivia Crookes as my doctor! Love this woman and her Irish brogue. She delivered my son four years ago and fully supported my decisions to deliver him naturally and drug-free, and without circumcision. Great, down-to-earth, compassionate, sense of humor, very kind and human. Extremely professional and has never guided me wrong in the years before and after the birth. She calls me back on the same day and is always patient with my medical questions, even those that extend beyond the OB/GYN world. You can't fairly ding her for having to pay for parking (it's Santa Monica!) or catching a receptionist with the wrong tone of voice on the the phone, we are talking about a doctor's reputation here and our experiences with her directly, not the facility itself. Cannot recommend her more highly. read more

I do not want to write long reviews so, I ll keep it simple! I am coming from Greece and I was so lucky to have great OBgyn there!! So, when I become pregnant here I was scared (actually terrified!!) After a friend's recommendation I tried to book an appointment with her. It was difficult because she had many patients (another sigh of how good she is) but after a friend of mine arranged I manage to be one of her patients!! She was there when I needed her and she performed a C-section (due to previous one I had) bringing to life my precious daughter !!! All the stuff is great and all the nurses were very helpful!! Thank you all Today my Antonia is 13 months!! PS I do not understand some negative comments about her or the facility stuff but I know that people treat you the way you treat them!! read more

My doctor referred me to her, but she's not accepting patients for another month, so I wasn't sure where that left me. The receptionist was entirely unhelpful and unfriendly the entire time on the phone, too. Not waiting the month to see her. read more

Dr.Crookes, Dr. Blumenfeld & Dr. Shulman are wonderful doctors; calm, caring, patient and friendly. They make you feel confident and are highly communicative. I chose Dr. Crookes after having my first with another local OB. The office is never crowded, super accommodating and the desk staff was lovely. I had a couple late night issues that came up and I always received a call back from one of the doctors right away. I have to say the birth of my second was beautiful, calm and perfect. Recovery was so fast as well (obviously some of that due to being my second) and Dr.Crookes was very attentive. I loved this office and the whole team was incredibly down to earth. Highly recommend! read more

I have been a patient at Women's Healthcare since 1998. A doctor that is now retired, delivered my son in 2005 at UCLA-Santa Monica, and it was a wonderful experience. I saw Dr. Crookes and Dr. Blumenfeld and during my check ups, (pre/post) pregnancy care, in addition with infertility prior to my first pregnancy. They are committed to their patients, have always had solutions, been supportive, professional, wonderful, and resourceful. I moved to the San Fernando Valley, and subsequently, became pregnant with twins. At my new reproductive endocrinologist's strong urging to deliver in the valley, I ambivalently switched to an ob closer to home, a different hospital. My delivery was a difficult C-section. A week later after hospital discharge, I barely survived a severe PPH. After attempting to get my life back to normal, I retreated back to Dr. Crookes and Dr. Blumenfeld. They were incredibly understanding. I cannot elaborate enough how both Dr. Crookes and Dr. Blumenfeld helped me in such a fragile time with many health issues afterwards. I can talk to Dr. Crookes about anything and she is open, doesn't rush, takes her time with you, etc. I am grateful to their great competence, attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism. At any age of a women's reproductive life, Women's Healthcare Associates is an amazing team. Dr. Crookes is the best! Karleen B. read more

I chose Dr. Crookes for her excellent reviews online. I now think Dr. Crookes would have treated me differently if I were not a plus size woman. The second thing she said to me after we were discussing my longing to be a mother was... "let's talk about the elephant in the room - what's up with your weight?" Needless to say, this type of pun is harmful and traumatic for a person of size who has spent her whole life dreading doctor's offices and scales. If you're slightly overweight, try another doctor who will actually talk about your health and blood work (all at normal and healthy levels mind you) and avoid sending you into a state of disassociation during the rest of your appointment. read more

Dr. Crookes is the best. I have seen her for 4 plus years through two pregnancies. She is funny, knowledgeable, and patient. She must answer the same questions from nervous moms to be every day, but she always makes you feel like you are the first to ask and never feels like she is in a rush, despite having such a large case load. When I was in the hospital for delivery, many of the nurses told me she delivered their children, which has to be one of the biggest votes of confidence in medicine. Her office runs like clockwork. Appointments are on time, blood work is processed fast and the whole staff is warm and friendly. You never feel rushed. I cannot recommend her more. read more

Dr. Crookes takes the time to understand my needs. She works with my choice to avoid MRI carcinogens and opt for thermogram screenings as a means of checking in on my breast health. She supports my decisions to resist drug therapy as I opt for a cleaner version of dietary and lifestyle modifications. Having her support and open mindedness allows me to continue to have some faith in what can often seem like a failed health system propelled by big pharma and greedy and sometimes blinded non-skeptical medical professionals. read more

I love Dr. Crookes and the whole team at Women's Health Care Associates. I've been going to Dr. Crookes since I was 14 years old (when the man who delivered me retired) due to severe cramps. She is very knowledgeable (she's from Ireland and she was very young when she graduated medical school), and treats her patients with the upmost respect. She is always willing listen to her patients concerns and gives them a safe space to have their health care needs met (it's so incredibly important for woman to feel safe and welcomed). The staff, including Liz and the women who do the blood pressure and urine work are very professional and sweet. I want to be an OBGYN and Dr. Crookes gave me amazing advice and became a great mentor to me. I got to see firsthand what an amazing doctor and person she is. I can't say enough about how much I respect her! All the doctors there are great! read more

I've been to many gynecologists, so I feel I am qualified to write that Olivia Crookes is the best choice. She is professional, knowledgeable, well educated, kind, funny, empathetic, and a joy to be around (the last attribute unusual for any gynecologist). I found her via online searching, and I'm so lucky I did! Karen K. read more

Never got to see the doctor because the receptionists and insurance staff refused to help me and told me "I don't have time for that."

I've only been to Dr.Crooke once but was VERY happy with the appointment. She reviewed my history, asked great questions and was caring and a bonus...funny. I would recommend her office and will be going back. She can highly recommended by a friend who had a complicated delivery and was also happy. read more

Dr Crookes has been wonderful. I had to have surgery, she did a great job. Now I am pregnant with my first child and she will be delivering. It's been a great experience so far. She's attentive and very knowledgable and trustworthy. read more

Elitist, insensitive, impatient. My life has been ruined by Dr. Crooked. 4 months after birthing my child, I was peeing a lot so I called the office and said I would like to simply take a urine sample, they said NO you have to come in for a whole appointment. Instinctively I knew I wanted to avoid her and just wait and let the culture speak. Came into her office . She said you have a uti . I asked 4 times "are you sure?" Yes, you need to start Macrobid right away, I asked is it safe while breastfeeding . "Yes, it's fine for little cutie" I called her complaining I felt very off while on macrobid and was feeling all sorts of symptoms and said I need you to start CIPRO. I asked with macrobid ? Yes. I nursed my 4 months baby with macrobid and Cipro. After experiencing shortness in breath, tingles in my hands, dark thoughts, shooting pains I called to tell I don't feel right --she said those are just side effects they will go away! As I layed on my sofa in the most excruciating pain , and feeling no sensation in my right hand she calls with my culture result which was NEGATIVE. So Dr Crookes what does that mean? "Some people just pee a lot.i guess it will take a lot to get you to take any antibiotics again. As the weeks continued more and more side effects started . Checking in to Cedars with looks from the nurses facing saying macrobid and cipro together??? Without even a culture back? In my delivery after birthing placenta she said what are we doing with this? I said I want to keep it, " she asked where ?" I said I want to keep it " I saw her throw it right in the trash!! A few days after delivering after taking a sitz bath I started to bleed so my husband called her to say is it ok? It was on a Sunday and she said she was at her office already for another patient so I could come. 15 minutes later she calls me screaming saying. " is if an emergency or not" (narcissistic abuse type if behavior" When I was pregnant she was relentless asking me to take the vaccine I said no she asked me 5 times. The other reviews on here also show her negligence for test results! I heard from a nurse at the hospital that she made her cry. My life has been ruined by Cipro , my perfect baby got severe eczema. This doctor is so careless, insensitive, narcissistic! The worst part is she has not done anything to help me or follow up! I emailed her with this info and all she said was "noted, thank you. Olivia, what can I say. There's nothing bad I can say about her. She's attentive & thoughtful. Parking can be a little annoying since you have to pay to park in the lot. You can try finding street parking but you know how that goes. read more

Dr. Crookes is an exceptional OBGYN. She delivered my 2nd child and the level and quality of care throughout pregnancy and delivery was mind blowing. She is dedicated, personal + highly skilled and knowledgeable. She is respected and highly regarded within her professional circle-several doctors and nurses actually recommended her to us and sing her praises. That means a lot and she did not disappoint in any way. She respects your time and I don't think we were ever left waiting for an appointment. When we needed specialists, her recommendations were also wonderful. We feel so blessed to have her. Thank you Dr. Crookes!!! read more

If you like DR.'s that suck, she'll be great! If you want a DR. that is totally not interested your pregnancy than she'll be great!

I have only one word....amazing. No one likes to go get these exams, I'm a horribly nervous patient. She was kind and caring and fast as lightening. If you have a question or concern she'll address it BEFORE your exam. Go to Dr. Crookes you won't be sorry! Thank you to all the office staff you're all professional and very much appreciated. read more

If you need an amazing OB/GYN..Dr Crookes is the one to visit. No one enjoys having an exam but she always puts you at ease. She's caring and I'd see her for every thing I need if I could. I had major surgery last year and she actually called to see how I was doing. I've had doctors before and you'd wait forever for them to call you for anything. The front office is also top notch which makes a big difference because they are the first ones you see when you walk in. Dr. Crookes has the heart to do what she's doing.:) She also delivered my one and only son so you can't get better than her in my opinion:) read more

Love her. I drive all the way from South Bay just to keep her as my doctor. She's taken my calls, personally called in prescriptions, and always makes me feel comfortable. read more

Didn't even get a chance to work with Dr. Crookes. The lady answering the phone is rude and doesn't want your business at all. I wonder if she expects people to beg to come in or something. I called a different office which also had decent reviews and the girl was much pleasant to speak with and I got an appointment scheduled. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Crookes' for several years and would never think of going to anyone else. She is patient, empathetic, and knowledgeable. I was a nervous pregnant mom for both of my pregnancies, but she always made me feel at ease and never made any of my questions seem unimportant or trivial. And I never have to wait more than ten minutes for my appointment, unlike most other doctors that I have seen. Dr. Crookes really embodies the true meaning of being a doctor. read more

Dr. Crookes is wonderful, but her office staff is officious, arrogant and rude. The front person is really hostile, doesn't do what she says she'll do, and then is upset with the patient. Doctors need to be more careful about who represents them. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I'm very frustrated with Dr. Crookes. I went to her because I had a fibroid and needed surgery. She knew very little about fibroids. While I was under anesthesia, she took a picture of my fibroid but her staff made her delete it. I found this a complete violation of privacy. Her bedside manner consists of cynical remarks and jokes. She was not clear with the dosage for my medication, and I ended up taking too much. I take vitamins for some health issues I have and she told me that vitamins don't work. I found that very insulting, as well as a complete lie. After the surgery, I had so many complications. I've had severe pain every month and had to get on narcotics. Later, I was hospitalized. Dr. Crookes did not ask where I wanted the incision and now I have a permanent scar in an 'undesirable' spot. The area where she did the surgery was puffy for a year afterwards and grew back lop-sided. I told her and she was completely insensitive to me. She suggested I take oral birth control, but that causes fibroids, not to mention breast cancer, so I thought that was extremely irresponsible of her to recommend that. In addition, her office staff were very unreliable. When I needed medication, they never called it into the pharmacy and I had to request over and over, and wait on hold. Very frustrating. Valerie, her office manager, is a complete $#%$#. I think Valerie overbilled me because the amount I paid was more than my deductible. I addressed this with her and she said it was the cheaper option. Made no sense. In their restroom, there is a huge advertisement for the HPV vaccine. Yes, the vaccine that has left teenagers paralyzed as well as infertile. Wtf. Anyway, I cannot stress enough that seeing Dr. Crookes was a horrible experience. read more

If I could give Olivia a zero I would. I'm shocked to see the positive reviews on here. Olivia is disinterested. Insensitive. She misguided my husband and I a number of times simply because she didn't study the results of the tests she had us perform. You know it's a bad sign when you have to continually correct your doctor of results and exams that she's already done. She fails in ever category. I've never felt so uncared for and violated. It's been such a horrible experience, and with something as sensitive as fertility, birth, and starting a family, I beg you to go elsewhere and save yourself the pain. read more

My wife is a doctor; SHE swears by Dr. Crookes, and being the dude who has accompanied aforementioned wife to Dr. Crookes' offices during our first boy's entire maternity period through birth (which I have filmed), I can attest accordingly. I have been seeing Dr. Crookes for a number of years as my GYN and have always found her to be knowledgeable, kind, sympathetic, efficient and funny! Her staff always gets back to me in a reasonable amount of time with test results and she calls me herself to answer questions, also within a reasonable amount of time. My experience in the office inspires confidence in the quality of care I'm receiving. I would recommend her without hesitation. read more

Dr Crookes is awesome , It would be hard to find a more caring doctor with such great attention to detail. Always willing to answer questions but never pressures you into anything you don't want or need. She is very sweet and treats us will respect, and has made the whole process so much less stressful for us as first time parents. Her facility is great and the staff is very friendly. My wife brought company with her to a few visits, and they were so amazed with her that they now too will be using her as well. read more

As a new patient, with a first pre-natal appointment on the books, I had a terrible experience with Dr. Crookes office. It was quite difficult for my husband and I to conceive so you can imagine my anxiety when I started spotting during week 6 of my pregnancy. I had called the office to schedule my first prenatal visit and was a bit taken aback when I was told that I could not be seen until week 9 of my pregnancy. But that did not seem too out of the norm and I took it as a good sign that Dr. Crookes had a full schedule. My concern came when I called the office after an anxiety-filled weekend of spotting. During my call, the receptionist (a) refused to check to see if Dr. Crookes -- or any other physician -- could fit me in for a quick check; (b) refused to let me come in for blood work (to check on whether my CRH levels were within the expected range); (c) refused to let me consult via the phone with one of the physicians that day; (d) told me to go to an Urgent Care clinic if I was still nervous/wanted more information; and (e) rudely told me that the urgent care was the only option until my visit (in 3 weeks). I could not believe that this was the office's response, especially given my advanced maternal age and continued spotting. In short, this office was the opposite of kind, caring, and responsive and I do not feel like I received anything close to "adequate" -- let alone excellent -- standard of care. I realize that I never got to meet/speak with Dr. Crookes; however, I cannot believe that the physicians would allow their receptionists/nurses to speak with any patient in this manner. read more
