The Long Hollow Ranch checked every one of those boxes. We stayed in the Homestead cabin, which had three beds upstairs, and one downstairs. The cabin had two strong window AC units, which were wonderful. The cabin had no TV, which was great, but did have a vintage stove that served as a table top for the in-room microwave. There's also a mini-fridge and a Keurig Coffee Maker. Beds were comfy, bathroom has hot water in the shower, and the decor was fantastic. The morning breakfast was signaled by a good old-fashioned dinner bell at the main house, which is beautiful. There were lots of hash browns, fruit, juice and more. They even offered to cook each of us an egg to order, which our son took advantage of. The breakfast was absolutely great. All in all, this place was well worth the price, which was already much lower than other places on our trip. They even let us dabble with our fly pole in their bass pond free of charge. They accommodated our late check in (10 PM) and even had the AC going when we arrived. Customer service was top notch. This is the definition of a 5 STAR property.

The majority of their business is focused on guests who are staying at the ranch (many from overseas) who want to go on longer trail rides or an old fashioned cattle drive a la City Slickers. Since we already have a home in the area, we didn't get to take advantage of their hospitality as guests. However, we did visit to enjoy a trail ride. My boys love to ride, but it has been quite difficult finding a trail ride that satisfies all of our needs. We've tried Diane's Riding Place, but they tend to be more instructional. The stables at the Seventh Mountain Resort were only OK. My goal was to get more of an 'authentic' trail ride with a little bit of fun. We were only partially successful. First off, making reservations wasn't terribly easy. After calling the main business line, I was given a second number to dial for the stables. Since the focus is on their ranch guests, they don't seem to be overly eager to take outside riders. Fortunately, some of those guests had another activity planned, so we were able to arrange a ride. It turned out to be semi-private and Katie was a wonderful guide. You will sign a brief liability waiver, and riders must wear jeans and boots. The boots requirement was a first, but fortunately they have plenty to borrow at no charge. Children are also required to wear helmets. The ranch covers 600 acres, so they took a gentle ride up through the hills to enjoy the view of the Three Sisters. It was a good ride, but low on the excitement factor. No cantering or galloping, just an easy mosey up and back. Unlike the prior reviewer, the ride lasted exactly 60 minutes, so no complaints there. It is really disappointing that there aren't more horseback riding options in the area. These hills are filled with ranches, but due to liability concerns, very few open their doors to the public. The room is gorgeous and fitted with pretty much anything you need. There's a sunk in living room, with a giant L shaped couch. 2 massive TV's with chrome cast. Heated flooring in the bathroom. Private hottube outside. The breakfast is good, but nothing to write home about. Fresh pastries, fruit, and yogurt. It does get delivered to the door, which is a nice touch. The buggy is also really handy as the resort is pretty massive, so although getting around on foot is certainly possible, the cart makes it a lot easier. As for amenities, there's more than what we could even do. Family pools, adult-only pools, archery, horseback riding? and much more. The fitness facility is also surprisingly well stocked, with barbells, dumbbells, and cable machines.

The venue was beautiful, the food was excellent, and the banquet staff and service were exceptional. But what truly set the experience apart was Kym. Two members of our family first walked into SCP the day after losing their mom, simply exploring whether it might be the right place for our family gathering. From that very first meeting, Kym met them exactly where they were emotionally, with a level of kindness, compassion, and understanding that went far beyond her role as an event coordinator. From that first meeting through the final moments of our gathering, Kym handled every detail with genuine care. She took something that could have felt overwhelming during an incredibly difficult week and made it easy for our family. We were able to simply be together, remember someone we loved dearly, share stories, laugh, cry, eat some great food, and not worry about anything else. You can provide a beautiful room. You can serve great food. You can deliver excellent service. SCP did all three. But you can't train someone to care the way Kym cared for our family. We will never forget what she and the entire SCP Redmond team did for us. There will always be a special connection to this place because of how we were treated during one of the most difficult weeks our family has experienced. We opted for one of the cabins, which was quaint, modern, clean, comfortable, romantic, and just the right size for two people. The layout of the cabins is friendly to the trees, too, so it really feels like you are a part of nature when you stay there. Amenities include a very comfortable king bed, TV, large soak tub, gas fireplace, mini-fridge and microwave, and a patio. They also offer a complimentary breakfast, and have events, such as a nightly wine and beer reception. As an added bonus, there is a spa, theater, brewery, and athletic club in the complex. And, of course, Sisters and the surrounding area offer so much to do in any season. This place truly is an exceptional place to vacation.

The cabins are spacious, beautifully designed, and filled with thoughtful, high-end touches. We always try to book one along the edge of the property facing the trees, and the views never disappoint. Waking up to a forest instead of a parking lot is hard to beat. The bed is exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom is better than most luxury hotels, with a separate water closet, a large shower, and a deep soaking tub that fills from the ceiling. Beyond the cabins, the entire property is designed for relaxation. There are walking trails throughout, a welcoming lodge with plenty of space to gather, a well-maintained pool, and extensive grounds that encourage you to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. One of our favorite things about FivePine is its location. It's an easy walk into downtown Sisters, which meant we could start our mornings with a stroll to Sisters Coffee and a visit to the local bookstore before heading back to enjoy the rest of the property. The lodge also has restaurants, a movie theater, and a spa on site, which I've reviewed separately. I could keep describing it, but honestly, the photos tell the story better than I can. If you're looking for a place to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort, FivePine is a wonderful choice. Will we be back? Absolutely. Will not be back. The workers there were all really nice from the Aerie cafe, and Silver leaf cafe. The Niblicks and green staff was worthless. No one checked with us, brought everything that we asked for after the meal was finished, ketchup, A-1 Sauce, mustard etc. The fat ass inside the market was pathetic, didn't get off his chair or the phone during all 3 stops. Talk about a DEI hire. The lard couldn't or didn't want to speak English. Must be a friend of someone higher up. The pickleball courts were terrible also. 2 courts weren't available due to cracks and court peeling up and dirty didn't help either. This day and age there are better options. After 20+ years we will not be going back to Eagle Crest.

But they continued on and said owner services was closed for the weekend, I could call them on Monday, but they probably wouldn't move me because of a broken fireplace. We were here in the middle of the week and were fortunate to have the entire grounds to ourselves. I found the hikes and trails super easy and well-groomed. Breakfast was perfect: hard-boiled eggs, chilled oats, coffee, yogurt and fruit. The barn kitchen had everything to cook an excellent meal. We ended up never going out for dinner. We just stayed in and cooked. Darren, our host, was friendly and kind. Zia, our yoga teacher, led a dynamic yoga session and was a delight to talk to. Best of all, we got to sleep in a comforble tent under the stars. We got to see constellations and shooting stars! We could hear coyotes in the distance. Duriing the day, we saw a family of deer on our hikes. Definitely bring flashlights, sunblock, bug spray and a good book, if you plan to visit. There are some games (Uno, cards, etc.) at the barn, so no need to bring your own unless you want to play in your tent. In the dining area outside the barn, you can okay horshoes, Cornhole or bocce. If you're looking for a romantic vacation somewhere remote, that includes the outdoors but without sacrificing all the comforts of home, this is it!
