I grew up in San Diego and have been to Old Town Historic District MANY times, but this was our first seeing the inside of the hotel. It reminded me of a hotel you see at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, AZ. The Cosmopolitan Hotel was built in 1827. They offer Cosmo Happy Hour in their outdoor garden patio Wednesday -Saturday from 4pm-6:30pm (walk-ins only) no reservations. The garden is also available for wedding venues. The Cosmopolitan hotel has Saturday Brunch from 10am-2pm. If interested in taking an old vintage photography session, you would have to book it through Catherinesegura.com and select the size photo session of interest. Check it out! Happy Yelping :)

After strolling through Old Town, my son wanted to check out the Cosmopolitan Hotel. We decided it…read morewould be a great place to stop for a quick shareable bite before heading home. My daughter found us seats under the pergola covered in lovely greenery. It's counter service, so you order at the bar and they give you a number for your table. There were two ladies working behind the bar area, but it took a while before we were acknowledged. We finally placed our order of a pretzel, truffle fries and chicken bacon flatbread. Our food also took a good while to come out. There was only one server and two other occupied tables. While we waited, there was a man playing acoustic guitar, which was a nice touch and added to the atmosphere. The food was pretty tasty. We especially like the chicken and bacon flatbread. Since we were sharing everything, we would have appreciated some plates, but none were provided so we ended up using our napkins as plates. My daughter did make a valid observation about the pretzel: "such a giant pretzel for them to only give us one tiny cheese and nothing else, not even mustard". Unfortunately, the one thing that really spoiled the experience for me was when what appeared to be a termite fell onto our table and landed right on the corner of my flatbread. A few moments later, another one fell onto the table. At this point my son announced, "it's raining termites". Needless to say, this definitely ruined our appetite. I honestly regret not taking a picture because I was just so thrown off when it happened. Even though the setting was lovely, the music was a nice touch and the food was tasty, the slow service, lack of plates and falling termites, the experience fell short.
