This was our first RV experience. We spent many hours and time learning about the options and work involved when renting an Rv. That gave us a huge advantage when we finally made our decision. There was no question about it, CRUISE AMERICA was the MOST economical deal out there, especially in the off season. They offered a free night when you booked a week. It was a pretty straight forward rental process online. They take a $300 deposit which is refundable up to 7 days prior to cancel. Be aware of the additional fees and expenses incurred when renting an RV Motorhome. A per mile fee (unlike car rentals), use of the generator (we didn't have to use it because we stayed in places that offered full hook ups), the propane it runs the hot water and the refrigerator if you aren't hooked up to electric. it's fairly minimal. You're responsible for all tolls (unless you use your ezpass)and any fines the vehicle may incur. There are also varied penalties involved if you don't bring the gas back full, dumping the black and gray water tanks prior to returning it. Make sure you bring it back clean fee can exceed $250. Recommend the optional zero damage liability policy, (just for piece of mind) we called our insurance company RV's aren't covered under our policy. The employees at the location were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the vehicle. It was COVID so upon inspection the staff is not permitted in the vehicle, they stand outside while explaining how to operate the interior of vehicle, pwhich was a little confusing. So watch THE VIDEOS. Upon initial inspection everything seemed fine, we where just so excited to start our journey we overlooked a lot of the interior issues that were fairly evident. I am somewhat of a clean freak when it comes to other people sharing space, and even pre Covid I was wiping down hotel room handles and remotes with disinfectant wipes.Always checking for bed bugs, so I expect a certain level of cleanliness. This was not the case, it probably would have been acceptable for most. I spent an hour wiping the ceiling walls and floors to meet my standards. During our trip We had an issue with the fresh water pump overflowing when it was hooked up to the city water , we got a message back telling us how to temporarily rectify the problem. Other minor alignment issues with a shimmy at a certain speed (I am sure it is from excess usage) that was solved by either excelling or slowing down. The rattling from the microwave, windows, door was annoying. My husband was a mechanic for many years, so we went around the vehicle shimming things like the microwave, (removed glass plate while driving and put it in a secure place), made sure the windows were closed properly, rattling of the door, etc. THIS NOT A LUXURY TOP OF THE LINE RV, but it does the job far above. There is a lot more storage than expected and lighting was superb. THIS IS A MUST, bring a mattress topper for the bed, it changes the entire experience. Or at least use sleeping bags over the horrible mattress, it would be well worth an investment for a better RV experience. I wish the front seats reclined more. Driving the vehicle once you become familiar becomes comfortable and reliable. Upon returning we met with Paul and expressed our concerns about the cleanliness, he was empathic and explained they have a cleaning company that cleans the vehicles and they are not permitted inside the vehicle cabin once they are cleaned due to covid. Went over the minor issues and he was grateful for the feedback and got back to us with a fair resolution. Keep in mind these vehicles are leased by the thousands and come from all over the country so have some patience and understanding when discussing your issues with the vehicle. They will work with you if they feel you have a valid issue. read more
