I'm sorry to say, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a sales rep - named…read moreLedger L. at the Poteau, OK AT&T store; the other two employees were fine, as far as we could tell. I told him my sister was visually impaired and needed one of the older-style phones with push buttons. He said he didn't have any. (We later found out he could have ordered one and showed us a "dummy" copy of one he had in a drawer but ONLY after we told him about it). He tried to sell us an iPhone 13, which was totally out of her price range and it was a smooth screen - she couldn't "feel" the buttons. My sister has peripheral vision but very little central vision. We had already told him she was on Social Security and had no other means of income. The next phone he showed us was $400. I asked to see the most inexpensive phone he had and he sighed heavily and showed us one for $99. I asked my sister if she thought she could see the numbers well enough to use it and she said she would try but she didn't think it would work. According to what we understood, we had 14 days to return it if it didn't work out for her. We had the phone overnight and she could NOT see the numbers. I called the store and Shelby (a different rep) answered and said we had 14 days to return the phone and by all means to bring it back and they would refund the money. When we arrived the next morning at Poteau AT&T store, Ledger L. waited on us and said: "Sorry, you bought that phone and there's no refund!" We wouldn't argue with him because he was quite adamant and we were not going to argue with him. Now we have conflicting answers (between Ledger & Shelby) and thinking we should go somewhere else. There was a Walmart nearby (in the same vicinity of his store) and we found a flip-phone with numbers for about $60 and she COULD see it. Unfortunately, they had none in stock. We then went back to the AT&T in Poteau and told Ledger we found a phone that would work for her and he said he could order that phone - why didn't he tell us that to start with? We told him what she needed but he didn't want to work with such a small amount of money. But he went on to say if we were going to Fort Smith to get the phone at Walmart, he could take the Sims card out of the phone he sold us (and still keep the $99) and he could put it in the phone she was going to buy at Walmart since it was an AT&T Cingular IV phone and my sister could keep the number he had already assigned to her - but also not refund the $99 and we would be out another $60 something dollars, not to mention he had charged us for the first month of service and it wasn't refundable either, according to him. I KNEW this was turning into something ugly and felt we were being conned so we just said thank you and left. We went to Fort Smith, Arkansas to the Walmart there and they did have the phone in stock. We bought it, got signed up with AT&T and walked out and it was very simple. While we were In Fort Smith, we stopped at two different AT&T stores and asked if there was any chance they would refund our money because the store in Poteau said it wasn't refundable. They said all AT&T stores give you 14 days to see if the phone is what you expected and if not, bring it back and they would refund the money, but it had to be the store where you bought it. We told them the ordeal with Ledger L. and they said we should take it back and demand a refund and if he didn't do it, ask to speak to his supervisor or call the corporate office and then file a complaint on Ledger L. We brought the phone back to the store in Poteau and he didn't appear to be in the store. We got a different Rep named Shelby - she was GREAT!! While she was in the process of refunding our money, Ledger came out of the back of the store and wouldn't make eye contact with us, so we will never do business there again. Shelby refunded our money but I would never recommend that store as long as Ledger L. is working there - if you do go, I wouldn't allow him to wait on me. Sorry this was so long but I hope it will save someone a lot of stress and money.
