Don't judge me.... Just because it had been 18 years since my last dentist appointment I ended up choosing these guys because of their positive reputation from friends on Facebook. I was expecting much worse news than I received. After an EXTENSIVE cleaning on my teeth they only discovered 2 small cavities. We scheduled an appointment a few weeks out to take care of that and I happily showed off my gleaming white teeth to everyone I saw. When I was scheduled to come back the black ice storm of 2014 had hit Crestview. The receptionist called me from her own house to let me know they were closed that day and rescheduled me further out. I was surprised they took the time to let me know considering how bad the weather was that day. When I arrived to have the cavities taken care of I only had to wait in the waiting room about 8 minute before they took me in. Upon further inspection of my teeth it was found that one of my old fillings had come loose and a small cavity had formed underneath it. They went ahead and knocked out all 3 of the cavities in one visit to save time for me. They even used pediatric strength numbing agents to keep me comfortable. I have a MASSIVE fear of dentists from childhood and it was nice that Dr. Wayer and her staff did an excellent job of keeping me calm and numbing me properly so as to prevent pain during my visit. I would highly recommend them BUT not recommend waiting 18 years before your next visit!! read more

I've been waiting a year to get a top denture and bottom implants/2 posts (had to redo them, too many fittings from a cast, why ???, must use denture creams, why ???). Did not offer bone grafting for better support of a 4 post implant (guaranteed 2 post). Equipment/product malfunctions that were slow to scan and sent all white dentures. Staff (nice for the most part, finance only nice, when you sign up) has to keep running to doctor for answers. Doctor availability, seems to take a lot of vacations. Makes you sign, when products are not fully together, validating they fit well. read more

My first visit was some time ago, when I was in agonizing pain. I had a severe infection in a tooth and was dreading having to go through this! We all hope to find a forever dentist someday, someone who knows exactly what to do, and cares about their patients! Dr. Shane is that guy! He turned out to be the best dentist I've ever been to, and I've been to several dentists over the years. I was in my late 70's then. He took his time, explained everything to me, answered all my questions, and put me at ease. He shared his thoughts and expertise with me honestly, and was knowledgeable and professional. I can't tell you what a positive experience this was! The tooth came out all in one piece, without breaking, because he took his time to do it right. I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Shane. The quality of his care was exceptional. Someone else described him as "kind." Perfect description! Yesterday, I went in because I broke my upper dentures in half. They were made somewhere else years ago, and Dr. Shane is fixing them. I will also order a new set from him. I had been to another dentist in Crestview years before who made my dentures, and that experience was beyond horrendous. They were unprofessional, the staff was rude, and they kept changing the prices on the services and procedures! They also didn't mind embarrassing several patients in the waiting room. What a difference in professionalism with Crestview Family Dentistry. I'm really happy I decided to go there, because it's my "Go to place" now. I have to mention how helpful Andrea was in the office when I stopped by to make an appointment. Pros work there! She had answers to my questions, as well as options. She's very knowledgeable and we had a nice chat, as if we'd been friends for years! I love the lobby with the chess/checker set, and the aquarium on the big monitor. Had two extractions 6/13/24 one extraction took them 2 hours, the other took 20-30 mins. came in multiple times afterwards in excruciating pain. Dentists checked, no dry socket. Was on a soft diet for 20 days, lost 10 pounds because of pain. Come to find out I had bone or tooth fragments coming out of gums of both extractions sites. This is why I was in pain. Dentists did not know why I was in pain and were reluctant to give me pain meds. Finally gave me 15. As of today 8/17/24, I still have bone or tooth fragments coming out of gums. Will not be returning. I have teeth I need capped etc. but they won't get another dime out of me. read more

I wanted to find a place that did IV sedation. I have severe dental anxiety from past dental experiences.. I called and spoke with Andrea, she was very efficient, helping me schedule an appointment and very knowledgeable about the services that they have. when I first open the door, I noticed you full atmosphere nice soothing music. I played chess until they called me to come back. I noticed a dog toy behind the I didn't inquire if there was a dog in the office they did say yes I was pretty excited about that to meet the dog Oscar I think his name was.. they took me back to the room. Everyone seemed very delighted to be working. Explained everything that was going to happen. The only thing that I was not too happy was the young lady that drew my blood , DID NOT WEAR GLOVES and that is a big no-no as I work in the healthcare industry myself. We highly recommend Dr. Shane and his staff. The office is really pretty. Dr. Shane couldn't be nicer or more caring. My husband needed a lot of work done and Dr. Shane was so good at explaining everything and working with us. He was able to put both of us at ease. Wendy, my hygienist, is great! No complaints there or with Dr. Wayer. However, I will give 3 stars because of my experience at checkout. On my prior visit I was given a quote of what this visit's charges would be (unsolicited, I will add); however, when I was given the total for today's visit it was 25% higher than I was quoted. This is important to me for several reasons. I am retired, on a fixed income, and have no dental insurance, so all these costs are out of pocket. (Not to mention it is the Christmas season where expenses are already high.) I literally saved for months because I knew this visit was going to be costly since it was time for xrays. To be given such a different figure was a shock that I was not prepared for. While the staff was not rude, they struggled to explain the difference. I was told the original figure was an estimate and the actual charges were more. However, when I look at my paperwork it states it is an estimate of what insurance will pay. Since I don't have insurance (and the staff obviously knows that) it would seem to me that it was a quote for what my charges would be. I understand that mistakes happen, but it seems some training for the billing staff may be in order. I do not write this to condemn anyone, or to cause trouble, or in a mean-spirited manner. And this will not prevent me from returning. I am writing this in the hopes that it will be seen by someone who can and will address the issue. In the five years I've been her patient, I've really come to like and respect Dr. Wayer's practice. She and her staff have helped me fine-tune my at-home dental hygiene program to protect my teeth and gums. I'm certain my oral health is better today than when I first arrived in the Crestview area, because of Dr. Wayer and her hygienists. They've advised me on brushing and flossing equipment and techniques, and this has helped me care for my teeth well enough that checkups are routine and drama-free. I am beyond upset. We have been going to them for 5 yrs. My kids loved then. We switched from tricare active insurance to tricare reserve insurance and when I told them this when setting up my husbands apt they never informed me that they were now an out of network provider and we'd have to pay what the insurance did not cover because they had switched from in network to out of network! They will not fix the problem or waive fee even though its due to it being their negligence in not informing me their patient of the change to on out of network provider! read more

I do NOT NOT NOT recommend this dentist facility!! If you value your TIME and YOURSELF do not go here! I've been two times and both times all they did was x ray my teeth and talk. The first appointment was 15 months ago. I made it for a cleaning and said I need a cleaning. I was there for 2 -2 1/2 hours and they took a partial set of x rays and I met the dentist..that's it oh and lots of paperwork! I was very upset! I didn't go back! I went and purchased Invisalign a month ago and was set to pick them up on Tuesday April 10, 2018. I only went back to Crestview Family Dentistry because they were the only dentist that could fit me in to get a cleaning before I got my Invisalign. My orthodontist had told me to get a cleaning and any cavities filled. I called and told them that. I made it VERY clear I had to get a cleaning Before my Invisalign! I said I have to get my teeth cleaned! They made the appointment said no problem. I get there and they examine me and take more x rays. Later, I find I have a 21$ co pay, for the comprehensive exam, that no one had previously informed me about. Then the hygienist says according to the x rays I have to have a deep cleaning and they can't do it today! I said, I HAVE to have a cleaning done today and I did not want a deep cleaning I ONLY want a regular cleaning! She got the dentist, Dr Wayer, who says I have periodontal disease and I MUST go to a periodontal specialist. I told her at this time in my life right now that is not an option for me. I said, will you deep clean my teeth? She said no I will not I have referred you to a periodontist in FWB. The hygienist told the dentist I was "supposedly" getting Invisalign that afternoon and I had to make a "little " phone call. Very rude and condescending in my opinion. Dr Wayer ask me if I wanted her to call my orthodontist and I said NO I do NOT. They wasted 1 1/2 hours of MY time! Christy who I spoke with when I made this appointment told me the cleaning and 2 fillings I was going to have done would take 1 1/2 hours total! I got the 2 fillings because I needed them done before I went to get my Invisalign that afternoon. Dr Wayer filled a cavity between my two front teeth. The front tooth she did NOT work on was left with a big hole in it from the back! And you can see it from the front!! It's horrible..I never had a space or gap in my two front teeth but now I DO!! A big one!! Her hand shook the entire time she was doing the work! I left VERY upset. Next thing I know I get a call from my orthodontist saying Dr Wayer talked to them!! And they have to have periodontal clearance before I can come get my Invisalign(even though I've already paid for it!!) WHAT?? Dr Wayer is trying to force me to do something with my body that I did not want to do!! I told her I did NOT want her to call! She said her recommendation was for me to see a periodontist..that's it a recommendation, nothing more!! She can NOT force me or anyone to do something I or they do not want to do! We live in America it's free nation not a communist one!! If you value and respect yourself and time and money do NOT go to this dentist!!!!!! And if you actually expect or want to get your teeth cleaned!! read more
