    Shrimp and grits

Wonderful meal! Shrimp in my grits cooked perfect! Yummy okra. Hubs had fried snapper fingers and really loved the beans and rice! We will stop again! Order at the counter service! (Hometown feel)

I cannot say enough about this amazing little gem! I am so thankful we found this place on our way home from vacation. Without a doubt, the best shrimp and grits I have ever had! My daughter said the same about her gumbo. And the jalapeño cornbread was awesome as well. Not only was the food terrific and very reasonably priced, but the staff were amazing and so very helpful. You will definitely not regret making this stop!!

This was SO good. We saw it on our way down and knew we wanted to stop on our way home. We were so not disappointed. Fantastic shrimp and grits, nice size shrimp with plenty to have. The cornbread had the right amount of corn and jalepeno mixed right in. My husband had a burger and fries. The fries were great too. It will definitely be on our stop list next time we are headed to the beach.

The inside reminds me of a little Americanized French cafe on the water. There are plenty of options to choose from and the portions are huge! My husband got a house salad to start and a shrimp platter for his entree. The shrimp was delicious and not too greasy. He would have preferred the salad as a side and will do that next time. I got the Étouffée with shrimp, sausage and chicken - it was delicious. The side of French bread was super fluffy as well; it tasted like their croutons were made from the same bread. The service was stellar! Our server didn't push us to order and gave us the opportunity to ask questions. She waited on our whole section and was always thoughtful and let tables know when she'd be asking them to wait a few minutes while she served another table. We'll definitely be back!

My neice had the chicken sandwich with fries. My sister had the charbroiled red fish with shrimp and lemon sauce. I had the shrimp skewers with lemon caper butter sauce and red beans and rice! Sooo good! The service was amazing, Hayden took really good care of us at the bar! Oh we also had the baked oysters and the blood orange margaritas and the Dee Ablo margaritas! Great food! Great atmosphere! I would def go back!

The menu is packed with options: raw, grilled, baked, and charbroiled oysters, royal red shrimp, fried seafood baskets, fresh fish, prime rib po'boys, Cajun seafood boils, burgers, and more. We've tried just about everything over the years, and not once have we been disappointed. It's hard to believe I haven't reviewed them before now, but what Bayou lacks in beachfront views, it more than makes up for with consistently great food, cold drinks, and friendly service - all at reasonable prices. A couple things to know before you go: they're closed Sundays and Mondays, don't take reservations or call-ahead seating, and they stay busy. If you show up after 5:45pm, expect a bit of a wait - but grabbing a drink at the bar and catching up with your group at the picnic tables on the open patio is all part of the experience.

It is loud in the restaurant but sitting at the bar was fine and bc we were side by side we had no trouble having a convo.

We ate outside on the deck. Started with cup shrimp etoufee - scoop of piping hot white rice covered with a nice New Orleans sauce. Shrimp were plentiful and tender. I could have eaten a pail of it. Maybe some other day. We wanted to try a couple of sandwiches knowing that we would taking some leftovers home for dinner.. Started with the shrimp poor boy - the small one, cut in half. It was loaded with lightly battered shrimp, lettuce and tomato on a superb crusty bun. Sandwich looked good and tasted even better. It wasn't inexpensive but it had great value for the money. We also tried the mufalata sandwich. Again, the small one. It was a monster. Cut in 4, it still was huge. Seasoned ham sliced super thin with cheese on a fantastic crusty roll. There might have been a couple of other meats on the sandwich. It was too good to dissect for details. The olive dressing was excellent, I would have liked more of it on the sandwich. This sandwich was again very pricey, but had good value. Our food was brought to us by a friendly young man who was very good at sharing the details of the menu. Sadly, we didn't try the beignets.. Super dooper highly recommend without any reservations. Would eat there weekly if we lived in the area. Need to try the gumbo and jambalaya.

It was good with plenty of quality ham and olive tapenade. However, it lacked Mortadella and the proper Emmental-provolone cheese blend, feeling more like a ham and cheese sandwich with a little salami, than the cohesive, harmonious Muffulettas from NOLA. It was solid but not the same. Next time I think I'll give one of the Po-boys sandwiches a try.
