Look, I enjoy my animal proteins quite a lot thankyouverymuch, but I have earnestly been transitioning to a more plant-forward diet due to a number reasons (hey, probably the same as yours!). Mosty I admire how the best plant-based chefs can make their recipes flavorful and filling...because it's literally more difficult from a scientific point of view (glutamates, etc.)! Over the course of two lunches and dinner offered by Simply Vegan, I can say that Nikevia really topped the charts in terms of wonderful vegan chefs. The multi-course menus were hearty, fresh, FLAVORFUL and delicious without feeling heavy at all. She had a wonderful touch with flavored waters (yes, she even flavors them better than anyone I've known!) and personal service. I very much hope that I find the occasion to have her cater an event that I organize! Or, at the very least, that others will take this review as a serious endorsement of her cooking chops. That's just not true but I understand the frustration that led to a misunderstanding. I know the owner/chef was busy and working to try improve their marketing, ordering app, and communications. It's a small business so you just have to contact her directly if there is an issue and she will take care of it. I did that every time and I was patient because I want this good cooking to last to feed my family. Seems like great people. I've spoken to her and met the staff who deliver food to my house. The personal chef, in this case it was the owner Rakita, comes to your home with her own ingredients/food and prepares the entire meal for you. They do use your pots/pans and cooking utensils. The only thing they require of you is a working stove and oven, other than that, you can sit back and relax and have them cook and CLEAN UP for you. Yes, you read that correctly, they even wash the dishes and clean up after preparing the meal. They serve you the wine and all of your courses, so you literally can sit back and relax. Who's the genius that thought of this idea because I can truly get used to this!!!! I was able to choose my menu from her various selections of a prefix menu. I decided on the "Southern/Cajun Influenced" dinner. This included: Appetizers - Deviled Eggs Main Course: Smothered Chicken with Braised Collard Greens and Seasoned Potatoes Dessert: Signature Pound Cake. Everything was delicious! Granted a few issues occured with the potatoes and chicken not being cooked thoroughly, but Rakita promptly corrected the issue. The portions were plenty for 2 people to devour. Keep in mind that they serve Hyattsville and surrounding areas. Check with IB to make sure they serve your area. They not only cater romantic dinners for 2 like I requested, but they also cater private events/celebrations, teach culinary demonstrations and wine/food pairings. Rakita was a very friendly, professional and down to earth person, who just so happens to be able to cook her tail off!
