I've dealt with Donna Daniel at Prosource several times over the past 5 years. She is knowledgeable, highly professional and has helped me make choices that turned out great and within budget. As a result, I'm one of her repeat customers.

Warning: showroom is available under strict supervision and appointment only. Overview: Staff is nice. I would not recommend the store to anyone that I know. I also choose not go back because of the managers condescending rude attitude. Which ruined my relationship with my consultant and my experience as a customer. I am a preservationist/restorer fully knowledgeable about certain periods of time in architecture. What happened: I made several calls and visits to the store, I finally spoke to my consultant. She did tell me that she had an appointment. She knew I was running short on time, telling me to go ahead and pass by the store. When I arrived she asked me to wait, as the store was understaffed. She was answering the phones, pulling stock, doing inventory in addition to the another appointment coming up. I was concerned about time, asking her if I should come back. She assured me it was no bother. Because, it was out of my way, we were having trouble coordinating our schedules, plus I was under time constraints etc. Courteously, she inviting me to browse around while I waited for her. She said she would be back in about 30 minutes or maybe sooner. I started looking around when; the manager spotted me and started to stalk me with a very disapproving glare. I had my books out, my swatches, and I was taking pictures of things that I wanted for my project. He started asking me questions about what I needed. I explained I needed a particular type of tile and color and style. He condescendingly told me that what I wanted was unpopular. Weirdly insinuating that my choices were obsolete. The manager went on to brag about ALL contractors that were current in the style of today & would never not use what I was looking for. Trying to insult me. Ha, Good! I thought to myself. I don't want to be like everyone else. Especially not the cookie cut out (de jour). I certainly do not wish emulate the "harvest gold" of the millennial. Have fun with your tired travertine & boring nouveau riche items! *(No offense to anyone that likes the current modern style. There's nothing wrong with it.) I took his opinion as a compliment. As I aspire to have a unique aesthetic. Considering all aspects of my client, circa accurate & the project that I'm working on. This is what separates the bland from the inspired. Seeing, that I was unthwarted by his wisdom. He was even more perturbed. Unswayed, I simply ignored him and continue to do my work. I did explained to him that. That everything was under control, I had been talking to my consultant, she would be back shortly and had given me permission to browse. At which point he walked away to covertly nabbed my consultant from what she was doing and made her come assist me right then and there! At this point she turned on me looking uncomfortable, frustrated and embarrassed. The coup de grace was when my consultant passed his message that: "He wanted me to leave because, the store policy (as a client) I was not allowed the floor without a consultant present" Incredible! This was news to me. As had been in the store several times without an assigned babysitter hovering over me. Everyone (up to this point) had been cooperative and pleasant even telling me to come back anytime. In the past I was allowed to work on my project, gather information etc. I pointed this out to the manager, he dug his heels in muttering & reiterating it was policy. Seriously? I gathered my things and left immediately. Apologized to my consultant whilst giving the side eye to the jerk. Thus, irreparably damaging the relationship between myself & cons. Who after that day. Never return any of my phone calls, tried to make a new appointment or check on my progress of my project as she had done previously. Thanks a lot! Question for the universe: What harm was there in letting me browse, do figures, research for my project? Isn't that what you're supposed to do on any project? Fun fact: I had a little chuckle as I played scenarios in the playground of my mind as I was leaving. (for my own amusement) To explain such a person owning self righteous behavior. Maybe this guy: (had a bad day, lost his dog, or hated inventory, his girlfriend left him or generally was just grouchy) Finding compassion for a profoundly conceited and unprofessional being was tough. The best remedy is just to have a good sense of humor take a deep breath and move on. Finally! In the end. I was rewarded by finding better places, with vastly superior selections, better prices and way better customer service! Bonus: This guy did me a favor! Thank you! (Mr. Rude manager) If it wasn't for your unpleasantness. I wouldn't of found the best tiles around! Thank you for letting me know where not to shop! You're the best! I hope you're having a better day.
