This place popped up in Port Melbourne after Vanilla Bay closed down. I thought I would give it go thinking that it would either top its previous inhabitants or at least come in on par... A little disappointed with the menu and with the coffee I might add, the barista didn't appear to be all that experienced and the burnt tasting coffee confirmed it. I was really hoping for something new and tasteful however the menu and service offered on the day seemed to be the same boring solutions that every café on the strip is offering. I wont be visiting them again any time soon.

I have reservations about dining at Crème in Port Melbourne. For starters, the staff are pretty stuck up and almost nonchalant about everything. Next the menu is pretty expensive and some dishes are way over priced. For instance, the warm calamari salad cost $18.90, which sounds usual at some places but the portion really did not justify the cost. That being said however, this hard working café opens from 6am everyday so you can get a hearty (albeit slightly over priced) meal, bright and early. And for lifestyle coffee drinkers, you can drink your fill till 10pm at night. The interior itself with its yellow and white striped walls make it quite eye catching and trendy. That's how we spotted it to begin with. And the outdoor area is large enough to accommodate lots of people on weekends. Actually, the location is great and that's why it's such a shame that my overall experience however was less than appealing. But perhaps, I'll try it again someday. I always give people and places second chances so perhaps that will be better. We'll see...

My husband and I knew we had to try Third Wave while in town, after seeing it pop up on our…read moreInstagram algorithms. We are both big fans of meat/BBQ so we were so excited to check it out!! As delicious as everything looked, we ultimately ended up splitting a BBQ platter for 1 with some pork ribs added on... and it was still sooooo much food that we left stuffed! All the meat was great, but we both agreed the pork ribs were our favorite. Outside of that, the beef rib and oink ball also stood out. One other thing that really stood out to us, was their sauces. They were fantastic! Not just what they use to cook their meats, but the side sauces. Nuclear wave was a nice habanero sauce with great smokiness and solid heat that paired perfectly with the meats. They have happy hour on certain drinks from open until 6pm on certain days, so be sure to pair a beer with it!

Such a blunt but exceptional approach worthy of the rating I gave it. Onion rings were crunchy and impressive. Wings were beuitiful. The sauce, in multiple occasions was at the perfect level, they didn't make it too strong. The big stuff was the most impressive. Despite its immense, Headstrong appearance the food was actually easy and enjoyable to eat and handle. Every single item was impressive apart from the bread, the buns. Which were boring. So you gotta use it to make a sandwich or something and make the most out of it. Wish I could of given the bubblegum milk shake a chance. Great atmosphere as well. Worthy of 5 stars. Worthy of paying the price that we paid. Excellent customer service. A wonderful experience from third wave Cafe overall.

Steve and Matt (the faces you will see on most visits) are hilarious and encapsulate good service - they're friendly, accommodating, and take an interest in their regular customers. This alone is worth visiting Miss Jackson for, but throw in their great menu and you'd be crazy not to put this place on your list of regular brunch haunts. Breakfast covers a lot of the usual suspects - but the winner is the corn cakes with bacon, avo and chilli jam, accompanied by a strong Allpress coffee to wash it down. The corned beef sandwich with pickles makes for a sturdy lunch and the home made slices and muffins are a great afternoon pick me up. A rotating specials menu offers seasonal variety - recently; a panfried garfish with a panzanella salad got two out of two thumbs up. Sit outside if you fancy some sun, at the large communal tables if you want to read the papers, or in the back room if you're after discretion. Either way, you won't be sorry.

We ordered 4 meals and 6 coffees =$95. 2 Spanish eggs which had changed from the last time we came here, a serving of the pot set avocado and goat chèvre, pumpkin bread with cured salmon, and I had the lamb and quinoa salad + extra poached egg (the egg makes the meal a breakfast right?) which was a bit skimp with the lamb but still tasty. Definitely one of my fave places for a fab coffee in St Kilda!
