The location is another plus--just minutes from Zona Rosa shopping and dining. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. The room itself was spotless, which I really appreciated. That said, there were a few maintenance issues worth noting. Our first room had an AC unit that wouldn't respond to the thermostat. Since no maintenance staff was available, the front desk moved us across the hall. Unfortunately, the new room had a few quirks of its own: the front door didn't lock properly, the shower made a high-pitched squeal when in use, and it continued dripping after being shut off. We shared these concerns with the front desk upon checkout, and I hope they're addressed. One small suggestion: it would be great if the AC unit had a deflector--right now, the cold air blows directly onto the bed, which isn't ideal. All in all, a good stay with strong service and amenities, but this property would benefit from a bit more attention to maintenance.

The only hiccup with the stay (and it wasn't the hotels fault) was that I needed a hotel shuttle because of my early morning flight. I ended up returning my rental car the evening prior and paying for a ride share to and from the airport. If I were to use this Springhill in the future with an early morning flight again, I would end the stay a day early, and for the last night check into another hotel with an airport shuttle. Reasonable, enjoyable- recommend and will repeat when my travels take me back to Kansas City!

Thanks to my Bonvoy status, I was also able to check in at noon instead of the usual 4 p.m.--a nice bonus. The hotel, which opened in 2012, still feels fresh. The bathroom had a sleek glass shower (no tub), and everything was in good shape. My only complaints: the in-wall AC unit was positioned right next to the bed, so it blasted cold air while I was trying to sleep. And the mattress was rock hard--not my ideal sleep experience. Before heading out to dinner at Briarcliff, we stopped at the hotel's bar for cocktails. The pours were generous, and the bartender was friendly. The proximity to the Briarcliff shops and restaurants is definitely one of this hotel's best perks.

I had to cancel my reservation due to a sudden and tragic death in my family--a circumstance no one ever wants to face. I reached out to the hotel, explaining the situation and requesting a refund, to reschedule or even a partial credit. Their response? A cold, canned "policy is policy" from the property manager. Any establishment with an ounce of compassion or professionalism would have shown some flexibility. But not this place. They hid behind their rigid policy and treated me like a line item on a spreadsheet, not a grieving human being. If you're considering staying here, just know this, if life throws you a curveball, don't expect even the smallest shred of empathy from this hotel. They are utterly transactional, devoid of basic decency, and clearly more interested in pocketing your money than treating guests with respect.

No knock against the hotel itself, but feel that housekeeping should be daily instead of every two days, but realize things have changed since the pandemic, and the front desk indicated they would accommodate us with anything that was needed between housekeeping days. The only negative aspect was the breakfast. While appreciative that Continental breakfast is offered, the selections were not great, again, I feel that Hilton in general should offer better variety of breakfast meats and eggs. However, our stay was enjoyable and all the sites we visited was a short drive of our hotel location. Home2Suites is a fine family-oriented brand and is great for that family on the road.

Staff was friendly at check-in and all the encounters we had with them. Room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed on an overnight. Breakfast had a good selection of protein and carbs and having a free meal (well, included meal) is always nice and helps with the budget. Convenient to the airport if that is something you need.

An update…read more.. Missouri legalized gambling, so the casino has transformed a small space and a restaurant near the casino entrance into a sports book. It's a-ok. There are a few seats, a wall of tvs and a cage where you can place your bets. Cash only. The restaurant entrance is in the sports book. I haven't visited, so I'm not sure if you can bet while you're dining or if it's just a place to watch the game. As for the casino itself, not much has changed. Lots of slots and some tables. You should have access to your favorite games.

There's also Waffle house and Ruby Tuesdays next door which is convenient if you want to grab a late night meal although the hotel also has 24/7 restaurant available.
