B&B Fence

B&B Fence

(8 reviews)

B&B Fencing Huntsville, AL Notice: This review is not a…read more"AI-generated bunch of fluffy BS" review like we're all starting to see on the inter-web - I personally drafted this in WordPad, and pasted it into this damnable media location ( yes, I'm a grumpy old man). We had 800+ feet of chain-link fence, a 16' double gate, a 12' and an 8' single gate, installed this past April by another local company (which shall remain nameless for legal reasons). We had to have these "other guys" out a few more times to make "corrections" - which they just couldn't do, not without screwing up something else...with their "good-enough" or "that's the way WE do it" attitudes (and the crew couldn't speak or understand English). We were frustrated and fed up, and couldn't see anything EVER being "right" (even with a 1-year warranty on labor). After much research, and wading through the "real" reviews, we called B&B in mid-July; "Can y'all fix this s__t?" After a lengthy review of the obvious problems and proposed solutions, Jentry assured us they could eliminate the humps and sags, and floppy fabric, and too-short / out-of-plumb line-posts, and uneven margins, and loose tension-wire, and fix the gates, and.... "Let's do it." "Ed" and his crew were here, early. We did a quick review of the tasks to be done, and they got to work. All of the line-posts were removed, and replaced with new ones; and this time they were straight, plumb, and a string-line used to cut them to the EXACT height (as opposed to no evidence of a string-line being used by the "other guys"). The loop caps were PROPERLY placed, the old terminal posts were cut to PROPER height and caps set level, the fabric was stretched "TIGHT," and was attached with the industry-recommended number of ties so that there was "half-a-diamond" showing above the top-rail (NOT a whole diamond - give-or-take). The gate posts were re-configured for PROPER spacing of the gates and the provided latches, all of the dug-up rocks and dirt were removed (as opposed to being left where dug up, or strategically hidden about the property, as per the original installer). ALL of this was accomplished in LESS than three days, even when digging the holes BY HAND, and for at least half a day with only two men working, vs. three. When there was any question, we could quickly communicate, confer, and decide. (The previous installer initially took four days, using a tracked machine to dig the holes, and a machine to mix the concrete, and with three men who needed help to understand how to use a drill to drill holes in gate-posts.) B&B's crew, with "Ed" as the foreman, was OUTSTANDING! We're SO pleased with their work - it looks GREAT, and all of the gates close and latch properly now! The owner, Brett, was readily available, and was out to personally inspect the job. If you're needing fencing done RIGHT the first time, you won't regret hiring this outfit to do it. Highly Recommend!

I wish I could say something good - I tried for months to get Old Mill to move forward on a quote I…read morehad been given by their sales guy, and it kept falling in the cracks. I was told they had a system that had moved the deal to lost, but they admitted that was an accidental issue on their side. Then, I was repeatedly told someone would call, but I never heard. The last straw was when I called and was told they had been dialing the wrong number for me - I only have one number. Then they called back (number works now) and said that everything was worked out, but now they have had a "significant" (their words) price increase, and the minimum order I had been quoted of $700 would now be $1500. That is not customer service and is not how business should be done. I offer this review as a warning to others. There are other companies, and hopefully, you will have a good experience. I did not.

William Lambert installed a french drain in our yard and did not finish the job. I told him at our…read morefirst meeting that I wanted the french drain to tie into all of our down spouts in our back yard and the west side of our detached garage and for the drain to be day lighted at the ditch in front of our house. He did not daylight the pipe at the ditch nor attach the drain to the detached garage. All of the pipe was perforated, even from the down spouts which leaked water right next to the foundation. We were trying to get excess water away from our house, not right next to it. His price was very low ($1700) and he immediately needed more money ($550 total including the equipment below) to rent an excavator to dig the trench for the drain. After completing the trench, he dumped about 2" of gravel in the trench, laid the pipe and used absoutely now connectors to attach the drain from the down spouts to the main pipeline. The connections that he did involved cutting a hole in the side of the main line, sticking the other pipe into it and taping the joint together. He then used the excavator to push the dirt back in the trench and compact it roughly. The drain pipe had no filter fabric around any of it and I even dug up the pipe at the down spouts, cut it out about 5' and replaced it with non perforated pipe. He also needed more money to rent another piece of equipment to smooth the ground out. He said he would come on a Saturday to finish up but never showed up. After calling him, he told me that he had an accident which hurt his back and broke an ankle. He told me that he had a friend that could finish the work up for us but we would need to work out the cost for his labor and equipment. William should pay for that, not us. I would not recommend William for any work you may need done. His work should have included the cost of the equipment rentals. The work is not finished, not day lighted and he has $550 above his contract price that he owes us in return for not completing the work. If you do hire him, be very careful with payment for his work. Pay for the materials only. Once finished, inspect the work and once you are satisfied, only then pay him the balance and not a penny more. He will let you know when he will be there but then will show up an hour or two later without letting you that he will be there later than planned. At one point, he could not get the excavator to crank because the battery had died. I loaned him a battery charger and also let him borrow several flashlights so that he could see what he was doing while burying the pipe. I feel as if I should charge him a rental fee for these tools.
