I called and made an appointment to meet with Sean Burke who is an Investment Consultant at the Boca Raton branch. He agreed to meet with me at 8am so I wouldn't be very late for work. The branch opens at 8:30am and Sean came in early. Excellent customer service right off the bat & I was impressed. My goal was to transfer assets from my previous firm to Fidelity-if I felt comfortable. Well, if you know me at all, then you won't be surprised that I had many, many questions. Sean sat with me for almost two hours answering every single question I had. Granted, many of my questions were repetitive, but still he remained calm and patient with me. We called my previous firm to close out my account and transfer my assets in kind, which means as is. I was told it could take about a week but it just took a few days. Fidelity is a diversified investment brokerage, offering investment products. They also have 24 hour customer support which is important sometimes. I did call on Saturday night about 1am and was pleasantly surprised I was connected with an agent in Boston and not India or the Philippines. Glad to see they don't outsource like so many companies are doing. You can set up your account online or go into the branch, whatever is best for you. I arrived for my appointment and was warmly greeted and offered a bottle of water or cup of coffee. Such nice people in the Boca office. I had a fantastic experience and I am comfortable with my decision to move to Fidelity.

    My mother passed away in December, and funds from her Merrill Lynch account were supposed to be…read moredistributed to me according to her will. What should have been a straightforward transfer has turned into months of delays, confusion, and poor communication. On December 30, I met in person with a Merrill Lynch advisor at the Palm Beach Lakes branch on Bsnk of America and provided all requested paperwork to transfer the funds into a new Merrill Lynch account they opened for me. Since then, I have had to call every week to ask for updates. Each time, I was told the transfer was being held up because the account had to mature before it could be transferred and that it would be resolved within two weeks. That explanation was repeated over and over. It is now March 3, and I still have not received the funds. Instead, I received a notice requesting additional verification. I was required to provide the last four digits of my late mother's Social Security number just to get information. After locating that documentation during an already painful time, I was then told they could not explain over the phone what was actually missing from the paperwork. When I attempted to contact the Palm Beach Lakes office directly, I reached only voicemail. At Merrill Lynch nobody cares about you. I still do not know what more they need. This is a heartless company that cares about red tape and not the costumers they should be serving. There has been no proactive communication, no transparency about what is needed, and no sense of urgency despite this being an estate matter following a death. For a firm of this size, the lack of coordination and basic customer care is deeply disappointing. Handling a parent's estate is difficult enough. It should not require weekly follow-ups, repeated explanations, and contradictory information just to move funds that were clearly designated in a will. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Merrill Lynch to anyone dealing with estate transfers. Families deserve clear communication, accountability, and respect -- especially during a time of grief.

    Worst customer support (especially for financial & wealth management) in the industry. At John Hancock their call center is 100% based in Philippines at all hours of the day & night. The call reps don't get measured on answering questions accurately, or providing any amount of customer service, rather only on speed of answer. THAT'S IT! They were of no help at all. The website indicated to call their 800 number for information on 401k questions, yet the the call rep constantly referred me back to the website for information (that wasn't present). The call felt like a 'who's on first?' episode. Even at the end of the call when they asked had they answered all my questions, and I indicated they did NOT help with my concerns... the response said it all... 'excellent, have a nice day', and they hung up! This is the fourth call I've had with them, and I can't wait to move my money OUT of that place. Stay away from this firm. Whatever promises are being made in local offices, or by brokerage firms trying to sign you or your company up... I PROMISE you will be sorry later.
