Isaiah, my beloved African gray parrot

I brought in my African gray parrot to be checked for feather loss.Dr.Fairlie Examined Isaiah very carefully he needed to have a diet change. And gave us free packets of food and pamphlets she suggested a floor lamp which we got. I asked If we should get Isaiah's blood tested. Dr .Fairlie Said no because it would be too much stress on my parrot she wanted to just check if the dietary change would help with the feather loss. She was 100% correct this would've caused too much stress To the parrot. As They Do not do well under stress. She made the right decision. unfortunately, I brought my parrot to an avian vet specialist Newburgh veterinary Hospital for a follow up because of the feather loss. They told us then he had a heart murmur and decided to do bloodwork as he was sedated under anesthesia. My parrot died six hours later the medication they used because of his heart murmur should not have been given. My biggest regret is that I didn't come back to creature comforts. Warning do not go to Newburgh veterinary Hospital if you have exotic animals. Go to creature comforts please thank you to all the staff and Dr. FAIRLIE. Sincerely, Jamie Banks. In addition, Newburgh veterinary Hospital the vet said he had a heart murmur. The medication they gave should never have been given to a parrot my parrot who has a heart murmur.

Love Dr. Fairlie! She has given amazing care to my adopted chinchilla, Pablo. She spends all the time he needs giving him the best care. Finding great vets to treat exotics is rare in this area. I drive pretty far to get him there, but it is worth it!

The level of service and care is supernatural! I will continue to bring my Hedgehog Pixie in and any other future pets I will have. The patience the doctor had with my prickly friend to get a skin sample and give her a proper exam was for sure the best part of my visit. Thank you!

This is the night my baby died. I am sharing this photo to show the Panera bread cup around his neck!!

I brought my ferret ranger into them because he was ill. They initially diagnosed him with insolinoma and put him on prednisone. Was told to recheck the blood glucose in 2 weeks. I came back in 2 weeks and the vet stated that his levels have abnormally skyrocketed and he can't be on the prednislone anymore. She said let's recheck him in another week. I come back before that week is up because his condition deteriorated. They told me he now has diabetic ketoacidosis. They failed to mention this was extremely rare in ferrets. They failed to explain what this meant. Alls they were worried about was taking my money. I was told to transfer him to a 24/7 care facility and hour away because they aren't one. They never explained to me how bad his condition actually was. I was never told that his condition is EXTREMELY rare. I was never sat down and explained to that he is critically ill. I was just charged $623 and sent on my way for nothing. Mind you they had given me an estimate for over $2500 and I declined because I was already going to the critical care center. They got snippy with me because of it THEY CHARGED ME $22.80 for a Panera coffee cup to be put around his neck as a cone. $22.80 FOR A PAPER CUP. Not only did they tell me on the phone they didn't have a cone small enough for him so I would just have to keep an eye on him but they put a paper cup around his neck and had the nerve to charge me!!! On top of that they placed an IV catheter into his front leg( charged me for that) Only to get down to the emergency facility to be told that the IV was NOT in properly and that whoever placed this catheter must have been in a rush so it wasn't done properly!!! So not only did my poor baby have to go through the hell of having it taken out and then having a new one placed properly in his back leg but I had to pay again because of Creature comforts negligence and carelessness (mind you it was past closing when they were placing the catheter in so they must have been rushing) Unfortunately I made the devastating and very hard decision to euthanize my baby because I didn't want him to suffer. I can only help but think maybe he would still be here if I NEVER brought him to that joke of a clinic in the first place. The next day after rangers passing I called Creature comforts to explain he passed and also ask why I was charged $22.80 for a Panera cup. The response I got was "It's not our fault he passed you clearly didn't have the funds to take care of him because if you did you would of allowed us to do testing here! (The manger then called me later with a nasty attitude saying "oh we refunded you the $22.80 it was an oversight on our end" Nothing like your money hungry and that's all they cared about was taking my money and not helping my baby!!BEWARE!! They are only out for money and do not care in the least bit about your fur baby! What a joke! One more thing is I never Ever EVER once got a "we're sorry for your loss" out of these people that work at creature comforts. May my ranger bear Rest In Peace UPDATE as of 10/28/20 Emily the practice manager called me and we basically got nowhere. I tried being nice but everyone I explained what kind service I got and how my ferret and I were treated she immediately got defensive and had an excuse for everything. She did not like the fact that I left this review in the first place. Her main concern was the fact that I stated rangers catheter was not placed properly. She tried saying every EXUSE possible as to why his IV was out. Meanwhile his IV Wasn't out it was simply placed incorrectly. Right down to the part of trying to put blame on me and say that it was a long drive to the E CLINIC and that he must have messed with it. Meanwhile he was too lethargic to even lift his head so no it wasn't on me it was there faults!! I mentioned to her how nasty her front desk staff was and how they spoke to me with the upmost disrespect. Emily immediately got defensive and said "OH ARE YOU SURE YOU CALLED HERE AND SPOKE TO ONE OF MY RECEPTIONISTS? Terrible service and just out for money!!

So glad we found Creature Comforts. Great staff, great vets. Even after we moved, we still drive the extra miles because they are so good.

DCAH has always given him their fullest and sometimes too much attention as he is does love it ( if you know Corgis you know what I mean). Recently Logan pulled a nail out and we had need of immediate attention on the weekend from DCAH. They got us right in and gave Logan great service inspecting his injury, bandaging it and giving us a full report on how to look after him. This type of consideration is truly appreciated especially when one has a crisis. In our case thank goodness it was small. DCAH staff is always welcoming, considerate and loving to all pets. Dr. Haight provides Logan with the care one wants and should expect from their vet. Thank you DCAH for almost a decade of care for our now more mature older Logan.

They don't even deserve on star but the system needed me to put something in. I contacted them in…read morethe morning at 8:35am on Saturday, May 2nd, that my dog was having trouble breathing. I was told to take him to an emergency vet service even though they were open and my dogs difficulty breathing came from medicine they had prescribed. I was told they didnt have an open appointment and only one vet on. I told them I wanted to speak to the doctor. They said they were with a patient and would have to get back to me. This was around 8:55am. I live less than 10 minutes away. My dog died in my arms less than 1 hour later. I was stunned that they showed no compassion to myself or my pet who they had cared for since 2010. The doctor called me at 1:15pm and stated, "I'm calling to see how Cooper is doing". I informed her that he passed away in the morning. She never apologized or addressed the fact that they wouldnt let me bring him in. Maybe there is nothing they could have done but I guess we will never know because they didnt care enough to see him. They definitely are not the same place they were years ago. The only thing that is important to them now is money, not the pets that we love. My family is brokenhearted over the loss of our Cooper.

We've always recommended this place to all our friends with pets & new cat parents that adopted from our cat/kitten foster group. We've also invested a great deal of time, energy, trust, and money in this practice. But last week that all changed with a very traumatic experience when we lost our beloved cat Ziggy. It will haunt us for the rest of our lives what we saw, & went through. We were treated very poorly with our eldest cat Ziggy who was the sweetest most gentle little soul. This place is not what it once was after shifting owners. Unfortunately this place is riding on the coattails of its previous good reputation. Ziggy was the cat that changed the minds of people who were afraid or misunderstood them. He greeted anyone who came to our home & would sit on their lap instantly. He also had a keen sense for bad characters, for example we had a repair man & I almost caught him stealing. I knew something was off when Ziggy didn't greet him. Cats have super powers like that, they know when someone isn't kind hearted & is hiding behind a fake mask of smiles. Our little protector is gone & his untimely death could have been prevented. We have yet not received the detailed medical records/receipts of the day he died despite asking multiple requests. We were never made aware of what he was going through despite being told we would be called back in a few minutes & nothing would be done without our approval first. Instead 20 minutes passed. Our bill is astronomical & we feel so trapped by this experience. He started having seizures Dec. '25. We scheduled the 1st visit & they assigned us a new vet that he's never seen & made us feel even more confused because they suggested he might have cancer. We sought a second vet's opinion at another place & they said he still had several years of life, & to continue his special diet & hydration methods. They saw his blood work & did not determine cancer. Then they suggested we go back to our primary vet (this place) & ask to consider kidney disease as the cause of the seizures to receive medicine to stop the seizures. So in March I scheduled another visit with the same concern only to be dismissed again because I didn't agree to x-rays & MRI. She suggested I should think about euthanizing him. She didn't validate the detailed description I provided in order for her to determine what he needed & wasted my time. Ziggy ran out of time thanks to this. They seem to think that a pet parent's descriptions are useless & that a machine can determine it better. At some point she suggested he was "just tired" -- I know the difference between tired & looking off, you know it in your gut! I have spent over $5,000 dollars here & in such a short amount of time to try & get my cat the help he needed. I feel like they just saw dollar signs, not a little soul who needed serious help without exploiting the vulnerability of his situation. Instead I felt like I was going in circles at this place, every time I booked an appointment they ran the same expensive blood test & offered only premium expensive options. If I start asking for more options they'll bring up euthanasia, which was brought up multiple times causing me distress. He was still very much a lively 12 y/o cat, eating well, drinking water, active, performing his tricks, playing with toys & with his step sisters, & improving in his daily activity thanks to the supplement taurine which we started on all our cats last year. When I told her that this supplement was working she doubted & seemed annoyed. Her tone discouraged me from thinking it made any difference at all. The oddest part is how she expressed denial when I told her he was more active but still having motionless episodes aka seizures. He needed medicine. Never again will I set foot here. We feel betrayed after years of being loyal patients. Our trust has been broken with irreversible damage. Ziggy is gone forever & his case was in our opinion mishandled. There was no compassion. They overstepped boundaries that made us very uncomfortable & caused us to question how things transpired. The way they handled Ziggy's case & the poor customer service we received after his death is so painful. They even threatened legal action when we protested our dissatisfaction with their services & lack of billing transparency. Our 1st Amendment rights aren't being considered here. This is a painful nightmare we never thought Ziggy nor us would have to ever endure. It will take us a lot of time to heal due to all the added aggression we received. RIP our sweet baby boy you deserved so much more.
