I went there for a very short tour and I noticed they don't have any other different kind of kids beside white kids. We are investing in his formative school years rather than saving for college because the outcomes of authentic Montessori education are well documented, and the proof is in the pudding -- he is happy to go to school each day, his academic progress is evident, and his love of learning has never wavered. The staff are genuinely caring and enthusiastic about maintaining optimal environments that support the development of each and every child. It is really beautiful to witness. An absolute gem in Simsbury, CT!

We started getting calls from the director to come pick up early, or , will not be able to attend. Arrived for normal pick up days sometimes to observe college age interns as the only supervision on site, sitting at picnic tables, sunning, while the children were at least 50 yards away arguing over some toy. These staff were not actually actively engaged and only engaged when they felt discipline was necessary. I think I observed one episode of guided creative play while my child attended (about 6~ weeks). Any other parents have similar experiences here?

As with most preschool/daycare programs, there is a mix of kids of varying ability levels and backgrounds. There is also a mix of younger and older staff. They are all adults with the younger ones typically in college for education/child development. I found the management was very open to feedback and questions about my child or the program/staff. All daycares/preschools have their staff/program quirks, but I always felt good about leaving my son in their care. I found them to be the most responsive child care providers out of all the ones I've tried over the years for either of my kids. I also found that they were the most honest and conscientious of any place I've been about keeping staffing ratios and safety measures in compliance. I found them very responsive, even proactive, and willing to work with me on anything. The summer camp experience is a little different from the school year program, but they are always making changes to improve the program. They genuinely care about the kids. You can tell some places are all about the money and don't care about the quality or improving programming. Because of the setting of the school, the kids are able to have some really great experiences that they won't get in almost any other daycare/school setting. Both of my kids rave about Channel 3 kids camp. My son has many fond memories of his preschool time.

The kids are always learning something new and they are always having fun (while developing the social skills). Monthly and weekly themes and lessons are consistent, clear, and well communicated with the parents to allow them to be involved and able to follow up and easily provide enrichment after school. Communication across the board is too notch. Throughout the day parents get regular updates via the Brightwheel app, including pictures, meal updates, and potty and/or diaper changing schedules. The app is also used to send centerwide messages from the staff, as well as personal notes to alert us to any issues the children may be having. I could go on forever about my experience and have nothing but positive things to say about FFLL. I highly recommend 'Foundations' to anyone who is in need of childcare and/or preschool. If you are currently looking you owe it to your children to call and set up a tour with the director Marie! I have had direct experience with different ages and classes. Mary Lou, Jackie, and Sharon are nurturing, attentive care givers for my three year old daughter (who has been with them since she was four months old) and now to our ten month old who has been attending for the last four months. Our oldest child absolutely loves going to school -- she misses it on holiday breaks and the weekends because she enjoys the craft times, reading books, helping to decorate the playroom or do other chores, and playing outside with her friends. At three, she can spell her name, recognizes letters and numbers, has an impressive vocabulary, can independently dress and take care of herself, and has better manners than kids far older. And as much as I would like to say we can take credit for it, I know so much of it is due to the care and personal attention she has received from Tiny Tot. Mary Lou, Jackie, and Sharon clearly love their jobs and these kids, who truly have become part of the family. They are firm with the kids never stern, and they insist that the older kids learn to help themselves as soon as possible. Our little one is so well cared for. For the babies, they rock and play with them, have circle time, and sing songs and practice movement. The holidays are so much fun at Tiny Tots -- they spend so much of their time decorating, practicing songs, creating crafts, etc. Just last week my toddler made a little stocking to hang on a mantle Jackie created and they spent time decorating a Christmas tree with colorful ornaments. My toddler cannot wait to tell me all about her day's experiences when I pick her up from school. Mary Lou and Jackie take pride in their facility and their professionalism. They openly communicate with parents and are upfront about any concerns or issues. I could not recommend them more.
