Mike built a very long vinyl fence for us, including a 20 ft. vinyl gate. He is a pleasant person to deal with, however, it did take several months before he finally put us into his schedule and to our surprise, built the fence all by himself. He did a good job, but had to come back several times to add support to the fence planks that attached to the main posts that he had inadvertently overlooked.
We are now left with 2 major problems, however. One is the gate latch, which is now completely broken, though it was hardly used & which my wife never liked, & always had trouble with the locking & unlocking of it. Now, it doesn't close at all over the latch, kind of like a spring in it has sprung. And it has now been a few months that we have been waiting for a replacement so we can actually lock the gate and secure our property. Mike is no longer returning our calls or responding at all, after making some excuses about the manufacturer of the latch sending the wrong one, etc.
Our other complaint is the gate itself which never easily opened or closed, and is now so out of level that to open it and close it requires opening both sides simultaneously & with some effort. On one visit to look at it, Mike said out loud that he is not good with gates. Interesting! Last communication about fixing this, which he indicated would require reinforcing at least one of the posts holding it up with more concrete, was that the problem was due to settling from the rains! I seem to recall that this last rainy season was not all that wet for one thing. And it appears that he is using this excuse as a way to get out of doing anything to help make it easier to open & close the gate he provided. All in all, it looks like we will be calling another company to mitigate these issues, and come back to Mike for reimbursement. read more
