I love almost every thing about this place. I was pleasantly surprised with the healthy-affordable lunch menu that was offered. Both, my 12 year-old and 2 year-old enjoyed almost all the same exhibits, but at their own stage and level. The gift store is outrageous on their pricing. They promote all this creativity and then wants to charge $20-$50 for recycle toys and a dinosaur I found at Walmart for $10. I would have spent more, if I had felt like is was reasonable, so each child walked out with spending $10 each. The 2 year-old got a train, and the 12 year-old got a broken-reduced price knight and a mood ring. Someone really needs to talk to them about their marketing because I would have spent $50 had I felt like it was fair pricing. My cousin paid for us to go on my families first trip there. This place is great! There is a huge playscape with a water table in the front that my kids loved playing on. I had to go in and rescue my little boy a few times because he was so young but it was a great experience. There is tons to do and see, and play with. Out on the roof is a telescope where you can look out across the baseball field and a pulley system. There was also a thing that you sit on and make a giant screw turn by pedelling. This is a really nice museum for kids. Our kids were 2 and 4 when we visited, and there was a lot that they could do. It's a little pricey, but worth a visit. We came on a Saturday, so it was busy, and parking was a little hard to find. We will definitely be back again. read more

The Creative Discovery Museum hasn't changed in years, it has managed to keep the fun and charm that I remember from my childhood, and I am so excited to take my son for the first time and pass these wonderful memories on to him. There is a large gift/souvenir shop when you come through the door, large indoor playground and large water activity structure, then artwork. a flickering light room, face painting, and giant sandbox where your child can be a Paleontologist and help excavate dinosaur bones. This is just one small portion of the museum, there's truly something for every age, it's not dull for adults and it's incredibly fun and educational for kids. The Creative Discovery Museum is definitely a must-see if you're visiting from out of town, and I strongly urge you to spring for a year round membership if you live in the area and have kids 2-3+ years of age. Spent a recent Saturday night locked in with a Cub Scout group, so my experience is much different than the general public. We had the entire museum to our self, all 30 of us, so there was no wait for anything as you can imagine. Great experience if you can arrange it with a Scout or youth group. My 6 year old and 1 year old loved it. This was about a 3 hour adventure for them. Right in downtown. Definitely recommend.

This is a great place to take the kids, with a wide variety of activities to keep them entertained all day. There is a three story climbing maze that parents can fit in, an area that teaches physics, another where kids can play instruments and dance, and that's just scratching the surface. We have been members for 2 years and it's worth every penny! So many interactive exhibits for kids of all ages; we can easily spend 2 hours there without seeing everything or feeling the least bit bored. The staff are wonderful, cheerful, and helpful. There is too much positive stuff to write out in this review. There is nothing my family does not like about this place! They have so much to offer. The staff are friendly, attentive and many have degrees in childhood development. They do many new exhibits each year and special events. This is the best Children's museum I have been to! The water play area is wonderful fun, the climbing area is fun and each exhibit has hours of fun to be had. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and there were not a lot of people there, which was great! We were able to spend all the time we wanted in each exhibit. In three hours we (my four year old and I) didn't even make it all the way through because there was so much fun around every corner. read more

I took my son here on his 8th birthday and several adult family members tagged along. Everyone liked the museum, especially the Barsamian exhibit, it's beautiful. My eight year old was filled with wide eyed wonder throughout the whole trip and would love to make a second trip. I definitely recommend this museum for kids and I think the Barsamian alone is worth the trip for teens and adults. read more

A fun place for kids of all ages. My son loves the water-play area and the large scale jungle-gym as well as the dinosaur dig. However, having been to a really great children's museum (Indianapolis), it's pretty obvious that this one is not in that league. I was hesitant to take my 2 year old here for the price tag of $30 but we had a blast!!!! There are so many things for every kids to do! I would suggest they place a few more staff in the play areas but if parents are watching their kids it's not a problem! What a fun time! We will be back! read more

This is the best children's museum I've visited with my family. My husband and I have five children ranging from age 12 to 8 months and there is something there for all of them. I feel like the museum had a wonderful mix of diverse exhibits and was educational and very fun with plenty of "hands-on" activities for children. My 21 month old had a blast! The water play area, the baby garden, digging for dinos, blowing bubbles - She did it all and loved it. It was disappointing the second floor was closed off because they were setting up a new exhibit, but there is always next time. The nice thing is they gave admission discounts because a part of the museum was closed. We will def be coming back for more fun! read more

Wow! Chattanooga has got some cool stuff for a little town! We did the Aquarium the day before but the weather was so bad we had to scrap the Lookout Mountain plan and come here instead. We were a large group of 7 adults and 8 kids so this place was perfect. Love the concept! There's a fantastic water science feature right when you go in. Kids will love it! If you manage to ever get past this area the place just keeps going and going. There's Art, Music, Dino Dig, Soil & Minerals, Pretend Play: Cooking, Doctor, etc. Upstairs there's a Wizard of Oz theme, Reading & Books, Bee Keeping, and and outside rooftop garden with more science theme playthings. However, the youngest child in our group was 20 mos and oldest was 11. For the 11 yr old, this place was not really geared for him anymore. I would say the suitable age range for this place would be for 4 through 8 or 9 yr olds. I have a 9.5 yr old and she was starting to get bored of the place after not too long. The 4-6 yr olds can probably stay all day and be able to find something that would interest them. There is a cafe at the front we didn't actually go to, but the menu looks extensive enough to suit most kids & adults. Very cool place to take your little ones. read more

Great place to take the kids!!!! My kids loved it!!!!! I have a seven year old, 4 year old, and 9 month old. Kudos for having a nursing room!!!! It's so hard being a nursing mom with 2 older kids. I could go into the room and nurse as needed and didn't have to walk all the way to my car and hang out nursing while my big kids played with their daddy!!!! This place is just awesome! We took our 17 month old son here while evacuating from Hurricane Gustav. This is the biggest and nicest place for children I have ever been. We were there for four hours and did not get to go in every room. Right when you walk in they have a huge water play area that was very intricate and looked like fun. We skipped this and headed to a big area called the Little Yellow House. It had a little house setup with toy washing machines, dishwasher, refrigerator for small ones to play in. There was a tree house with a slide. Only 4 and under children are allowed in this area. Next we went to the dinosaur dig area. They had safari jackets and hats so kids could dress up while they dig up dinosaur bones. The sand was very fine and high quality. You could also dress up like dinosaurs with tails and claws. Next we went to the music area. They had three rooms each with different instruments and such for kids to play with. My son loved the percussion room the most. We didn't go to the theater section where kids could dress up and perform on a stage. Next we headed upstairs to a play area that was Clifford themed. There was plenty of stuff to play with and a small slide for small children. On the roof they have an area that teaches you about pulleys and levers, but with really cool activities. There is a chair you sit in and pull yourself up with a rope to show how a pulley works. I can't say enough good things about this Museum. Downstairs had so many rooms and activities that we didn't even get to see them all. read more

I signed my baby up for play gym , Miss Erin is absolutely wonderful. However I've encountered trouble with other staff members not letting us in at the time we are suppose to be there , time we PAID for , a little annoying when you need to potty and change your baby 5 minutes before the class starts ! We traveled to Chattanooga this past weekend. And our greatest discovery was this children's museum. Both my husband and I said why can't we have this in Virginia. For our three-year-old in one-year-old this was a dream come true It was well done well thought out in the programs were amazing. We found it very clean and some of the kindest and nicest staff that we've ever met. Chattanooga was a charming city with great restaurants and great activities for the family. Finding this museum was just A cherry on top. I am not sure if the museum is privately funded or publicly funded but either way it is a model that every community could follow and provide a very. Educational and rewarding experience for children. It beats watching TV for sure read more
