At one point we considered holding him back for a year to make sure he would be ready. But Kensington helped prepare him, making our worries disappear. Between the teachers working with him every day and the Jolly Phonics books they use, he is reading almost as well as his second-grade sister. He has such a head start now and we have no worries about him being so close to the age cut-off. Kensington is a preschool that puts a lot of emphasis on learning, not just playing. The kids are always doing fun projects, learning about trees and plants by planting their own gardens, or learning about animals by raising caterpillars into butterflies and letting them out into the wild. The classroom walls are always covered with artwork and results of their latest science projects. Our son moved through three classrooms with three sets of teachers as he grew, and he loved all of them. He looked forward to school every day and made some great friends in the process.

But because I work in Aurora and Kids Kampus is located in Naperville, I would be driving an hour in the mornings just to get from Romeoville to Naperville to drop off my son and from Napperville to Aurora to go to work. This would be in the mornings and in the evenings after work. Because of this, I made the decision of looking for daycares in Romeoville. I informed the staff verbally of my home purchase and that I would be looking for a daycare possibly in Romeoville to help my commute. Unfortunately, I could not find any daycares in Romeoville. The ones that I did find were home daycares. So I decided that it would be best to just do the commute and keep my son Daniel at Kids Kampus since he's been there for a few years now and has all his friends in this daycare. But when I spoke with Denis to inform her that I would no longer be moving Daniel to another daycare. I was told by Denis that Daniel would no longer be allowed to return and that his last day at Kids Kampus would be on March 31st, as I had "requested." To be clear, I never made this request in writing or verbally. I did inform Kids Kampus that I purchased a house and that I would be looking into finding a daycare closer to home and if I did find one, Daniel would no longer be attending Kids Kampus. Denis previously states that there might not be any room for Daniel in the summer because they have reached their capacity and the classes are full for the summer. So why did Denise deny entrance to my son now? It's not like we were always late or never paid our tuition. We always paid on time. It would be interesting to see what excuse she gives to validate herself for being so spiteful in denying my son entrance. After my conversation with Denise, I decided to accept her rejection towards my son. At the end of the day, I wouldn't want my son to attend a daycare where he is not wanted and the owner/Denise is spiteful and has an ugly reaction towards any parents situation. It's sad that she made the decision to take it against my son by denying him entrance at the daycare. I don't believe we did anything wrong, especially my son Daniel. But it's also good to see the kind of spiteful person Denise is. Fortunately for my son, my coworker informed me of a daycare her daughter attends. I will be working on getting the transfer to daycare process quickly so that my son can make new friends and hopefully this new daycare does not have a spiteful owner that take vengeance on the innocent children over a parents situation. What I would advise all parents that have kids who currently attend Kids Kampus or plan on having their children attend Kids Kampus is, be careful of sharing your situation with Denise. She is very spiteful and will take it out on your child by denying them entrance.

From the top down, every single person that will be around your children is a special person and one the genuinely will care for and enjoys being around your kids. They have a perfect mix of youth and wisdom in their staff. It feels like a home away from home here. Communication is perfect via their app. You can get a live stream of your child's room during the hours they're open. No extra charge. Summer Camp. Biggest yard/playground you will see. Serious acreage back there! All this stuff is a great plus, but our kids have been here and will remain here because of the people. I wanted to list all of their names but that's probably not a good idea. I will always credit Childtime Glen Ellyn for providing the first formal education and roots for both of my daughters. Did I mention they have a commercial Kutcher and cool fresh meals for the kids 2-3 times per day? I get jealous at their breakfast meals daily!

He then went through their other classes - 2-year old, 3-day, and PreK. He is now doing great in Kindergarten and loves school and I feel that the Co-Op is a big reason why. My three-year old now goes to the Tuesday/Thursday class from 9 to 11 am and his teachers are wonderful - patient and caring and they are so dedicated to helping the kids participate in a lot of fun and educational activities. My 15-month old will start soon with the parent-tot class also. It is so fun to watch the little ones interact with each other and explore the activities and toys in the room. Since it is a Co-Op, you have the opportunity to participate in your child's education by being the third grown-up in the classroom once every 6 to 8 weeks. (Except for parent-tot where you stay each week.) If you work or otherwise are not able to be in the classroom, there is an option that the school can provide an aide. (Just costs a little bit more.) All of the staff are very special and so great with the kids! (And they often have good parenting advice too!)

The staff members are exceptional: they work seamlessly as a team to fill in gaps or shift around as needed. The director's door was open more often than not and I would see the Director and Assistant Director in the classrooms themselves as well. The director would often open the door for me as I struggled in with my entourage and clunky car seats. She would always reach out to me directly and consistently with billing issues, which was so very helpful as my girls' stipend was paid by DCFS and they NEVER forewarned me of issues or got back to me in a timely manner, so if it wasn't for the Director: my girls would have risked losing their spots due to non-payment. In our 18 months there so far, the 4 core teachers (from the rooms that have 0-18 mos) have remained the same. The turnover is not all bad and in my opinion I would rather have able, willing, and safe staff members there than someone who isn't doing or doesn't want to do the job! And we never lost our "Core Four" so my girls' attachment was not affected. They are extremely good at allowing EI services to be provided and for the child to removed for part of the day every week to attend a DCFS visit. It's not easy to deal with traumatized children and I feel the staff went above and beyond to show my girls they were safe, loved, and cared for. They always provided my little one with plenty of food: I can tell you confidently food is not used as a reward or punishment there: which is a big deal for me and my parenting methods! In fact, they have crackers and fresh fruit for anyone to have in their lobby. My toddler often takes 2 packages of crackers every morning and afternoon whether she eats them or not (I think it's more for comfort and control honestly): it's never been a problem. They provide lots of activities and fun little events for parents to attend! I love that kind of stuff. Finally, they are extremely sensitive and caring to home crises. My girls had a brother who was medically fragile and stayed home with a nurse in lieu of daycare due to his needs. He also went through a series of emergencies in which we were scrambling to function. Everyone was understanding and compassionate during that tumultuous time when we were under-prepared, sleep deprived, and inconsistent. My sweet boy did pass away from his conditions. Within a few days, a package was shipped to our home: signed by our KinderCare family. They gifted us a Seeds of Life memorial tree kit to plant in his honor. It thrives to this day. 18 months ago I was really nervous because KinderCare company tends to have a not so stellar reputation. Wheaton branch is definitely the exception. They really are something special.

When you have a question when you pick up your child Miss Alyssa is never too busy to come and answer all your questions! My daughter has been here for almost 4 weeks and never had dirty diaper when I came to pick her up and is always fed and smiling (she will let you know if she needs a clean diaper or is hungry). I highly recommend this KinderCare with the amazing woman who are staffed here.
