Another rave review…read more Classic Catering was SO easy to work with--we didn't have to worry about anything. Working with them before the wedding was really laid-back and casual. The brought us in for a tasting, let us figure out exactly what we would and would not need (with expert guidance, of course) and were very low-pressure. They didn't need final numbers or menu until a scant 4 days before the wedding--giving us great flexibility. The onsite staff anticipated our needs and were really buttoned up and professional. They were totally above and beyond. My dad even insisted on tipping them extra above the gratuity we gave them. They were also inexpensive as far as caterers go ($11.50/person with our menu), and included a lot of extras (like a decorated buffet table, mirrors for the tables, candles, etc.). The food itself was awesome. We had SO many compliments on the food--and far fewer leftovers than we anticipated--which was a good thing. Since we got married the week before Thanksgiving, we planned a home-style holiday-type meal--beans, corn, rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing. We had carved roast beef and roast turkey (which can be tricky to get right, but everything was cooked perfectly). It wasn't as *fancy* as other catered-wedding fare, but it was darned tasty.

Unfortunately, the experience did not come close to meeting expectations, especially given the nature of the event and the nearly $5,000 fee they quoted. To be fair, in the end, they knocked off several hundred dollars because of the disaster their inability to handle the job caused. The gesture was inadequate, considering our family did most of the actual work that day. The caterer arrived late, and only part of the staff showed up. The sandwiches had not been prepared in advance, the soup was not ready on time--nor was there enough, and twelve of the deceased's family members had to step in to help prepare food while more than 200 guests waited. Our family not only made the sandwiches, they also brought them out to the waiting guests. It made an already sad day become an embarrassing mess. The bakery bread we were promised was not used; instead, grocery store bread was served. Ty said the baker couldn't accommodate the volume of bread - we had this catering agreement in place for over 1 1/2 months. We were never told of this prior to the event. Beverages were also not stocked properly, and we had to repeatedly ask for refills. Some family members had to carry in cases of water from the caterer's car in the twenty-below weather. We chose Savage Chef based on positive reviews and the presentation of his food, but neither the service nor the execution nor the quality lived up to the advertising. Given the circumstances and cost, this was a very disappointing and upsetting experience. I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone.
