This store must be what a general store used to be in small towns all over. There's something of…read moreeverything here. Depending on which door you enter, you'll see general merchandise, like garden, kitchen, picnic, bath supplies, and some local jams, jellies, honey, or clothing -- ordinary everyday clothing: jeans, t-shirts, shoes, hats, along with general house decor. In amongst the merchandise are old pictures and newspaper clippings documenting the history of the store in the community and the family that opened it. Expecting clothing, and there was that, in abundance, it's the downstairs that had me in equal parts amazed and claustrophobic. The downstairs is filled, as in stuffed to the ceiling, with work clothing including boots, shoes coats. Writing that it's stuffed to the ceiling is truer than not because the ceiling is low. The pipes and ductwork are lower still but mostly down the center of the store. It's well-lit, but yikes -- I couldn't stay very long. This is a classic small town general store. No need to go to anywhere else because if you just need the essentials or the basics, one stop here will do that.

The ceiling is lower than any ceiling you've ever been in! The store is ancient old.. the floor creak, the bathroom is .. don't even use it... but the history of the place is amazing. Nancy, that manages the place is helpful and very nice. I buy my seeds for gardening there because you can't beat the price if you buy more than a little pack like they sell in the other stores. You buy it by weight. There is very OLD stuff in this store.. it's not a modern day store, but just for the history, you have to try it. There are photos of Siler City 'back in the day' hanging around there... ok the best part of the store, is that I can get a soda and a candy bar for under a buck still. The sodas are in the cooler, glass bottles even if you desire! This is a store you will expect to see older men sitting in the chair shooting the breeze and talking about planting their next crops. I will say that i think the prices are a little steep downstairs, but it is high quality clothing and shoes that you are looking at, so in reality, it probably is priced fair.

Carlos was always quick to help her out before we got married. Their big claims is "Sales backed by service." Their selection is limited, as you'd think for a small business. The owner's wife, Karen, was extremely unhelpful. If you buy the most expensive item in the line, they've got a lot to say, but if you look for something less expensive, forget it about. We couldn't afford the top of the line and ended up with something that we weren't really happy with. We've had several problems with the appliances we've bought and they haven't been prompt or inexpensive when it comes to fixing things. Communication is not their strong point. I'll never buy from them again. When the crummy appliances we bought from them - which dwindled right after the warranty ended - finally die, I'm heading back to Lowe's or Home Depot. Maybe this is the reason why small businesses are losing out to the big box stores: high prices, poor selection and poor customer service. If I'm going to get poor service from a big box store, at least the prices are lower and the customer service is professional.

While their selection was limited due to it being the off-season and changeover for next season's new models, staff was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. My boyfriend is African American and I'm white- not sure if it was a race thing but it's so unacceptable. My boyfriend was nice and kept trying to talk to him and figure out what kind of bikes they had and the guy insisted on continuing to tell us that they didn't have anything for us. Finally he told us that there was only 5 bikes available- but I guess he thought they were out of our price range because he said they're "2,000 though". I guess he thought we couldn't afford it. Overall a AWFUL experience and it's safe to say me and my boyfriend will never return. I would never in my life recommend this store to anyone. Update- called and spoke with the owner to let him know about the service. He was just as rude as the employee, and didn't really seem to care about the feedback. Sad as an owner of a business you don't see feedback as positive and a chance for growth. As a personal trainer very local to this area it's safe to say I will never recommend this to any of the clients I have
