I absolutely love this store from the variety of candle scents to the variety of home decor. I could literally spend so much time (and money) in this store. They already have fall scents ( yes it's mid August but I'm definitely a fall girl!) Today I bought the Apple Tart. They also have a selection of local favorites, which I bought Brookside Bungalow which is a very fresh, clean, relaxing scent. The store will be celebrating their 20th anniversary on Sept 23.... A dozen votive candles for $36 (usually $42.50). Tip -The container of Brookside Bungalow can be brought back and refilled for $2/oz with any of the scents they are filling that month. You can actually bring in any container as long as it holds water.

Lori is a dedicated and passionate owner that has a keen sense of what works together. The shop carries over 170 different scents which means there is literally something for everyone there. They don't have just have candles but wax melts, home décor, oils, and a variety of candle sizes. Lori was a guest on my podcast, Kansas City Confidential, where she shared all about the process of making their products and some of her favorite scents. We talked about how scents are like personalities and how everyone has a scent that fits their personality. Lori and her team are awesome and so hopeful to their customers. I cannot recommend this business enough and hope next time someone wants to buy a candle whether it be for their own use or for a gift that they shop at The Corner Candle Shop!

This is one of Kansas City's best success stories…read more A woman had a job, but she liked making candles, so the made it her new job. Next step: world domination - maybe. Anyway - Birdie, the owner, lives a life of passion and conviction, which she pours into her craft. You can see it in her candles and you can definitely see it in the studio. The candles - which are available in a variety of scents - come with a clever name and backstory. Light and citrusy scents - they're there. Wood and leather - oh yeah. Vanilla - now we're talking. At the time of this writing - the business announced it is temporarily closing its studio to customers, so it can focus on online orders. Good for them. If you're in the Kansas City area - you can find their candles in local stores and boutiques. If you're out of town or just a local person who doesn't want to be social - you can order directly through the Effing Candles website.

This will definitely get my service. The candles were so delightful. I took pictures of all the ones I am coming back to get. My daughter had so many questions on how candles are made & Birdy (owner) did so good at explaining it to her. T The prices are reasonable & the names were super clever. Besides the parking/walking, everything was amazing. I will definitely be back!

If you're in Leavenworth, Kansas you MUST stop in for a visit!…read more Immediately upon entering I was greeted with a friendly hello and an offer of their current tea samples. They had two hot and one iced. Before I even entered too far into the quaint shop, Kim mentioned tea samples--not just to drink but a small bag of loose leaf. She was the sweetest--in my conversation with her while I entered the store, I said I had just checked in on Yelp. Yelp said something about an ounce (seems like too much to just give away...), the samples were less than that, but I didn't mind, I thought it was cool they even did that--she ended up letting me choose two--so hard to decide when the two I chose sounded delicious! They have a fantastic array of teas: black, herbal, tisanes, green to name a few of their loose leaf teas. They also have an assortment of boxed/tin of teas too and from various companies. I tried the iced one they were sampling (Strawberry & Vanilla) from London Fruit & Herb Company. It was so refreshing I bought a box! I told Kim I was hosting a small afternoon tea for my Mum's birthday and she had some wonderful ideas! Not only for the teas from which to choose, but also some noshes to pair with them. While loading my arms with all the goodness, Kailee popped over and offered a basket for my finds! Thank you!! Everyone there is friendly and knowledgeable. Case in point, after having tried the iced tea, i asked out to make it with correct proportions of tea:water:ice, to which Kim supplied not only a verbal answer, but also gave me a card with brewing directions! Hooray! I love dropping by, at the very least to see if they have anything new, but also because they're a local company that has loose leaf teas--seems hard to procure sometimes. Queen's Pantry offers a variety of British fare and beautiful cups/mugs and accoutrements to help either a newbie to loose leaf teas or a long-time connoisseur. Not sure how it happened, but I let with more than just new to me loose leaf teas! **wink wink**
