We are not new to escape rooms in middle America, so we know for sure that The Room in Wichita, KS…read morehas to be one of the best values we've ever come across. There are very many good things to be said here, and we are so glad we got to play two games with them (Area 51 and Midnight in Morocco) before we left the city. First, the location was spot-on. The Room is centrally located across from the river along the Chisolm (sp?) Trail in a small shopping strip really close to Hotel Old Town and Gabby's Peruvian Restaurant. Parking was free and plentiful, both on the Wednesday morning and the Saturday night we played our games - although that may change when college is in session. We did not use the toilets when we were there both times, but they were inside the business and Laura, game host and owner, was very clear that we would not be penalized for using them while playing. This is the first time we have played a 100% completion game where the games are designed for 100% completion, and not one that is adapted to suit the party number, and it was such a positive experience, we really wish they had a lot more rooms - they have three. In Area 51, we played as a duo, recruited to recover DNA samples when Project Moonbeam was terminated and get out before the lab is locked down and its contents seized in order to continue the Project on our own. This story is repeated as part of the game once we are in the room. In Midnight in Morocco, we played as a group of three, and our task was to recover "The Heart of the Desert", a rare jewel that President Amad Makbar "borrowed", so we can return it to its rightful owner. We had booked for two (by mistake) but were able to pay for our third group member on site with no problems. (more on payment later.) In both games, the puzzles were straightforward, thematic, logical and not difficult - although it was quite easy to draw a blank in Morocco ... The immersiveness and décor, though, was really well done, with costumes in Area 51 and the Morocco room - gorgeous. Both rooms had a good number of locks - Area 51 was more tech than Morocco, which also had more locks, but none of the locks glitched or were difficult to open. Instead of feeling rushed for time or getting stressed because we did not want to ask for too many clues, the whole concept of 100% completion was just so customer-friendly! We could have got out sooner in Area 51 if we had aligned the escape code properly on the final lock, but even with that, we got out just a spit past the hour, and have photos taken with the time clock to prove it! Our real time for Morocco was 27:13; 37:32 - with penalties. That is not our best time, but it was close. There was so much to do and see in the Morocco room apart from the actual puzzle-solving, we would go back again just to see what we missed. Not only did we feel like we were playing with The Room (hints are given in-person in the room), we were also allowed to add picture-taking to our experience. Yes! We could take pictures throughout the game (and use our phone for light) - and we did! Area 51 was great for at least two people, comfortable with four, with no special needs requirements. A few of the locks were calf-height, but other than bending over, no real acrobatic abilities were required. No special physical demands are required for Midnight in Morocco at all. Both rooms are perfect for all ages and the best part: the pricing reflects this consideration. You pay per person, and the cost is really player-friendly - and there are two tiers to the pricing, based on age. We are not professional escape roomists (room escapists?!) and we are not trying to break any records, but as playing mostly both as a duo and a trio, The Room is great, great value for money - one of the best-priced rooms we've done in a while. We really hope Laura and her husband will have added many more rooms when we swing by Wichita next. As it is, we did not have time to check out their third room this visit, but it's definitely there on our itinerary for the future!

First off, we spent 300 on a party room that includes an employee attendant helping. We show up and it was chaos. We had little guidance and then when we finally found someone to help us, she too is to the deck which was not what we paid for she finally took us to our private room. After seeing the room was away from the jumping area we asked to move to the deck. They refused saying it's cheaper at the deck and they can't refund us money. I asked for a manager and that did nothing. All the staff were young teenagers that should not be in charge. We eventually went to the party room and never saw the employee again. The popcorn was burnt and no utensils. I finally went and asked for support and utensils and that did nothing. No one ever came. I asked for a manager again, what was again just a lead(teenager) who refunded 40 dollars. He said that's the price for the employee that is supposed to help. I explained i needed everything refunded but the amount of the kids jump. He said he can't. I kept asking for whoever was in charge and no one was ever able to help me. They gave me peaches, the general managers name and email. I emailed her and called and no response. My other concern is there was a flea market going on in the main area. One of the kids attending our party was lost and they had nothing in place for "code Adam". There was so many areas for something bad to happen with the kiddos and no one (adult) to oversee. It was concerning and disappointing. We will not return.

Then when I emailed to confirm the price, the "total" was $330. So somehow it went up $30. I paid a $100 deposit so was expecting to pay $230 day of. Day of they told me the total was $430. And I owed $330. After 10 minutes of pleading peaches did only charge me the $230. It was not easy however. I paid extra for a party room, which was so far away. It was so far away that you had to go past the sign that says "do not enter". Wth.... The room was so small. It was a party for 15, and they only set places for 10. They were late bringing all the things, and peaches was rude after I insisted on the price we agreed on. The rest of the staff was very friendly. The facility is very nice and clean and worth going to if it's not an "organized" party.
