A solid men's hair shop that feels like a less-corporate version of a Sports Clips. After having…read moremy hair done here many times, I find the stylists much more friendly and personable here than anywhere else I've been. Waiting area has big comfortable chairs embroidered with the local sports team logos (pick your favorite team to sit in!) and a nice set of flatscreens to watch while you wait. The overall vibe is relaxed and friendly. I find the quality of haircuts generally pretty good, though some stylists are better than others. Only downside is that prices have risen a bit, with a standard haircut now at $25. That's slightly pricy compared to a Great Clips, but the experience is much nicer. You get what you pay for. Bonus -- if you need to kill some time, the location is 20 feet away from a sports bar, and only a couple of doors down from La Farm bakery!

Back in the Chair -- and Glad I Came Back…read more A little backstory: I used to go to Lady Jane's in Cary for years, but after my go-to stylist left, it became hit or miss. I gave it a few more chances, but eventually started shopping around -- trying barbers in Cary, Raleigh, and Apex. Nothing really clicked. Fast forward to last week -- I had an upcoming business trip and badly needed a haircut. Figured I'd give LJ's another shot as a walk-in. TL;DR: Stoked I found Felicia! Longer version: Felicia asked what I was looking for, so I showed her a photo of myself with the length and style I wanted. She was confident, knew exactly what to do, and got started right away. Weird twist -- my hair wasn't playing nice with her clippers. No problem. Without missing a beat, she switched over to a classic scissor cut to keep things moving. Honestly? I prefer the scissor cut anyway, and with her decades of experience, she clearly knew what she was doing. Bonus: Felicia's got stories. Between her skill and her personality, it turned a routine haircut into a fun, easy appointment. Will I go back? Yeppers! Will I ask for Felicia and a scissor cut? Without question.

UPDATE: Revisiting my review here for Professional Barbers of Cary, I feel they need that final…read morestar added in. Over the past few years, they have been that dependable old school barbershop that's needed. With walk-in service (no appointments, first come-first serve) and taking cash only (no credit cards, but there is an ATM on site), this little shop does what it does well. At this writing, they are open Mon-Tues and Thurs-Fri for business. I've had great visits with all the barbers here and always have a solid outcome. Within the last year or so, the interior has had an update and it looks nice while keeping that old school barbershop atmosphere/vibe. While the price has gone up a little bit over the years (as expected over time), it's still a pretty reasonable price for barber services. Going with all the stars for these guys, thanks!
