A few weeks ago I noticed I was having headaches following tanning; then I realized the fan in the stand-up was pretty dusty. I didn't realize the owner (a male) was out of town & I asked for it to be cleaned. The girls that work there stood on stools, took 45 min., & made sure it was gleaming clean by the time I came back to tan. They're extremely accommodating! I would recommend paradise tan & travel to anyone wanting a friendly environment, that puts the needs of their customers first.

I figured it would take a couple of times to get it right as it was growing out, and my hair thinner than it used to be. After seeing her twice @ Hair Works, I was fairly happy with the results. The third time I went to see her I found out that she had gone to Hair Therapy. When I called for an appointment she was booked for a solid week. It was getting long, but all I could do was wait. When Saturday finally came and I went to get my cut, it looked ok when I left, but there was a lot of product in it (which I try not to use much) and by the next day after it dried from my shower it was evident how BAD it was! I had told her not to touch the back but I allowed her to even it up. When I saw it the next day the whole haircut was terrible. The back was way short and the left side much shorter than the right as was the rest of it the same. The whole right side was long and uneven, I looked like a mushroom... I had to wait another week to get it fixed elsewhere and walk around like that at work.. The girl who fixed it was shocked at how bad the job was, but did an awesome job fixing it up. I still need to let it grow out some and have it trimmed, but it's better now. Bottom line, Nikki might be ok with other types of hair, but in my experience with her, not curly.. at all. I won't be going back. Idk about the rest of the place.

For starters, there were several times during my appointment where a staff member(s) would either 1) stand by the person doing my nails and talk to them specifically without acknowledging my presence and/or 2) stare at me from a distance with other staff members. Additionally, I noticed other customers staring at me as well. Nothing wrong with the stares perhaps; at the same time, there is a difference between looking at someone briefly and staring someone down. Again, I received "stares." All in all, I would say the "vibe" from a third person perspective (specifically, my perspective) was othering. The only reason I left a one star review is because the person who did my nails was excellent at doing their job. As someone who enjoys getting their nails done, I am very well versed in acrylic nails and what I like in them. So the person (Noah) was meticulous and patient. I enjoyed that. Additionally, I really love the finished product - I did not provide a picture because I want to make sure my words are acknowledged first and foremost. I would not recommend this business to anyone who is similar to my identity: Black, queer, neurodivergent, or (such as myself) ALL the above. Additionally, I would not recommend this establishment to individuals who are new to the world of acrylic nails. Suggestion (if you feel disappointed by this review and you're looking for someone to do your nails): invest in independent nail technicians! After this experience, I have realized that as an intentional kind of person, an independent nail technician may be the best way to go.
