This really is a 'secret' garden…read more My sister and I were seeking a venue for a little treat and she recommended we try here. Afternoon tea without the ridiculous price - perfect. At £24 for two this really is a steal. Sandwiches of your choice, scones (with the usual accompaniments) and some yummy traybakes. This is more like non pretentious, Northern Irish style afternoon tea. With the tray bakes including mini fifteens and malteaser squares. If you are looking for something cutesy, scrumptious and not breaking the bank then look no further! Will definitely be back. Don't forget to check out the gift shop for some trinkets and the perfect gifts for mums.

Tea rooms attached to a garden centre, tend not to have the most out there reputation. I'm glad to say my scepticism was blown out of the water. This place is definitely a little gem of Belfast. The actual tea rooms/restaurant are an elegantly appointed building with stunning views of the countryside. You feel like you are in the great hall of some stately Victorian home. Sumptuous décor and a varied and delicious sounding menu. As we were there during the week we availed of the two courses for £9.99 (I think that was the price so apologies if I got this wrong, my mum was paying) We both ordered the soup for starter, Butternut Squash, chilli and coconut. Very tasty and a huge portion, I couldn't finish mine because I wanted to leave room for the main. My mother ordered slow cooked beef brisket, Mash and roast root veg while I had the smoked haddock, creamy bacon and leek sauce and the same sides. I cannot fault the food, it was delicious. My only tipple would have been that a selection of different sides for the fish may have been a little better, Maybe some samphire and potato croquets or some such. We also caught a glimpse of their cram tea on another table which looked stunning (I think the Waitress said it was £20/25 per head) Overall an amazing place for lunch, but it doesn't end there. They also offer a dinner menu Thursday to Saturday and it is BYO so definitely cannot be doing wrong there. I highly recommend this place for lunch or for dinner! If you go for dinner though I think you have to book as this place is making its mark on the map and seems to be getting ever more popular!

Jewellery, pictures, candles, furniture, lighting, table ware and now, miraculously, clothes too! It's an upmarket little place but many of the lovely trinkets are surprisingly affordable. It's perfect for teacher's gifts, birthday presents, and treats for your own self too, because you're worth it of course! I love the big chunky bracelets and necklaces they do with lots of bling hanging off them - hearts and coins and that kind of thing. Bracelets are about £12 and necklaces £30ish so it's affordable and they look much more expensive than that. I also have a lovely chunky Perspex ring which cost me a rather purse friendly £7 and which I wear almost every day. Other good buys are the candles in tins. I bought one for the hostess of a dinner party I was going to and she loved it . Oh yes, must confess I bought one for myself too - cinnamon is a much better smell around the house than my boys' smelly trainers. The clothes are on the expensive side but would be perfect for a special occasion . I splurged on a jacket by Z Biz for a work function and it looks reassuringly expensive!

The interior is pretty traditional and comfy and I always see a complete mix of school kids, mums and tots and the more mature in Bells. I usually call in for 'elevenses' and sometimes even wait till eleven o'clock! Depending on what I've been up to the night before, I'll have either a cold diet coke or a nice civilised cup of Earl Grey if I have been a good girl. Either way, I'll also have a rather delish tray bake to get the blood sugar nice and high. I have also had lunch a couple of times and the sandwiches are fresh fresh fresh and remind me of the kind of sarnies my mum would make! Next door to the coffee shop is the really interesting part - the little shop where you can buy Bells tea and coffee to take home. The range is mind boggling and I can recommend the Oolong peaches and cream blend. Oh yes, there really is a peaches and cream tea and I love it. Being a freak of nature non coffee drinker I can't personally vouch for the beans, but everyone else tells me they're top notch! Give me a cup of tea every time (and a diet coke chaser for a caffeine hit). The original Mr Bell started the business in 1887 which explains why these guys really know their leaves and beans!

Everyone had finished their coffee by the time that I had been given my food. But on this occasion I didn't mind because everyone was watching me eat it and I could tell they where so jealous and very upset that they didn't order something as-well. I was sitting beside my uncle who likes to eat (if you know what I mean) and he didn't talk to me the whole time, he was mesmerized by the succulent cheesy chicken I was devouring. Seriously it was like he had never seen food before!!!! I loved it and will definitely be back for some more family torture sometime, but it is a bit out of the way for me as it sits in solitude away from any kind of hustle and bustle which isn't traffic jams on the Newtownards road/Knock dual carriage-way junction.
