Crate Interiors helped us create a light, coastal space that feels relaxed. Laura was really easy to work with, selecting furnishings and fixtures, as well as, paint colors and electronics. I'm surprised by some negative reviews, as Debra responded quickly to our every question and concern. It can be frustrating, and took some coordinating and good communication, to furnish our condo from afar. When a few items were delayed, Debra even loaned us a king bed and sofa to ensure our comfort when we arrived. This gave us the chance to meet some of the Crate crew, who worked all day to unpack furniture, finish carpentry punch list, and hang two pendants. We hired Crate Interiors for "white glove install" in our new home in Puerto Vallarta. Debra has great presentation skills and sounds very convincing, the company website has great reviews and their Projects page and Facebook page showcasing beautiful pictures. However, our experience working with Crate Interiors was not the best one, we made a mistake by not researching the company background before signing a contract with them. The project started well and we loved the paint color that was suggested. We selected the furniture from the catalog, not too much of design was needed or offered. We knew that the furniture was very expensive and we were assured by Debra that it will be of a high quality and suitable for PV climate and all services will be done by professional tradesmen. The house was dirty after the "white glove install" and required an additional cleaning. The painting had several deficiencies, the walls and doors were damaged when the furniture was moved in, the electrical installation had several issues. All these deficiencies were not resolved by Crate Interiors and after two months of waiting we had to hire professional electricians, carpenters and painters to resolve the issues. However, we lost the warranty on developer's "Smart home system" as a result of unprofessional work done by Crate installers. We loved the look of the furniture (most was delivered on time), but the color of both bedframes was much lighter than we ordered and we had no choice as to accept it. One of the mattresses was uncomfortable but it was replaced as per initial agreement. Manufacturer labels and tags were removed from all furniture, electrical, decor, etc and there is no identification of origin on any of these items. Just a month after delivery three furniture items started to lose color (there was no direct sunlight). Debra refused to replace the furniture stating that the manufacturers rejected the claim and stopped replying to our emails and phone calls. After 4.5 stressful months dealing with this issue and only as a result of a 3rd party involvement we were refunded on these items. Crate Interiors is California based company and not registered in Mexico, however they charge 16% IVA on everything including IVA on services and we were double charged IVA on supplies. We were not provided with a factura as the company is not registered with SAT Mexico and Crate Interiors refused to provide any explanation on IVA collection on services and stopped responding to our messages. While we are happy with a few furniture items, the overall quality of the overpriced furniture is poor (some items had to be fixed already), some of the services are not professional and the experience working with Crate Interiors and Debra in particular was extremely stressful. In recent months numerous negative reviews with similar experiences were posted on Crate Facebook Review page. This page is no longer visible as it was removed by Crate Interiors. We will not hire this company for our next project and we would not recommend Crate Interiors to anyone. read more

DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY!! My wife and I completely agree with the other negative reviews - our experience was seemingly similar (that is, horrible). We hired Debra in 2022 to furnish our new condo in the Puerto Vallarta area. The initial sales pitch is great as are the photos of her past work and "in-stock" furniture. Unfortunately, shortly after hiring her, everything went downhill. The main complaint is that the stuff she is selling is just absolute crap. It is literally imported particle board junk which you can find for - not kidding - literally less than $100 on amazon. Talking rugs, tables, couches, everything, here. It is the bottom of the barrel quality articles being photographed nicely and marked up 700% and marketed as "luxury". She'll always say "we need more budget to do it properly". It's honestly nothing short of a scam, and if she were in the U.S. there's no doubt she'd be sued at the very least if not in jail. In addition, everything else about the "white glove" service is almost comically horrible. Stuff arrives damaged, not on time, etc. and there is no accountability - every concern is met with "it's not my fault" or "we have a four point inspection which ensures quality" lol. We were lucky enough to recoup some of our (overpriced) investment after threatening to sue. We still got ripped off at the end of the day. To those looking to furnish a place abroad in MX: here's a tip, go to the local furniture stores in PV or even on the side of the road. You'll be buying from local craftsman and the quality will be pretty good if not incredible, and the prices will be reasonable. What a disservice that Debra undercuts the local craftsman by importing dirt cheap particle board and sells it to unwitting expats. read more

Is it possible to give negative stars? I bought furniture from Crate for my second home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was an absolutely nightmare - unquestionably the worst retail experience of my life. The owner, Debra, is irrational, tyrannical, unprofessional, and completely unethical. She refused to deliver my furniture, holding it hostage until I coughed up more money. The furniture is crap - severely overpriced for what you get. She delivers furniture in the wrong color or material, or simply fails to deliver the merchandise at all. She promises "white glove" treatment, but that's a joke - her team left my walls dirty and scuffed, and they threw all the boxes and packing material outside my front door. I had to clean up after them myself. Debra herself never turns up for the installation - she just sends her lackeys. And if you're unhappy with the merchandise, good luck getting Debra to make things right. She refuses to take anything back, and she's completely impossible to work with. Once she has your money, she does whatever she wants. Be sure to pay with credit card so you have at least some recourse when Debra tries to screw you. read more
