Great space for live music and dancing. Open late and that's a plus. Rising Sons beers on tap are excellent.

I'm having a hard time making a call for Havana's because each floor seems to be a different venue…read moreand I'd mark them each with a different rating. The regular Havana's floor is a bit of a nightmare, typical ancient nightclub in Cork and can draw a bit of a rough crowd. That one gets no more than a two star. On the other hand the two floors above that are completely different in vibe and music and everything. The middle part is the Hidden Attic and it's a bit hipster and the vibe is a little dull. Great place to sit around with a drink and still listen to the same kind of music that's playing in the other two floors without the pressure to be up and dancing, but I'd prefer a quiet pub if you're not going to dance. Then the third floor is the golden egg, the Secret Garden. It's a super cool venue, part beer garden, part old fashioned sitting room. The key night is a Monday-- very studenty but a great vibe. It's not massive and it gets a bit rowdy on the dancefloor by the end of the night-- plus the bar is always three deep at least. However the music is by far the best I've ever heard in Cork, total mix of oldies stuff, hip-hop and the decent chart stuff- no ridiculously long dance intros and no cutting the songs off before the best part. I had an absolutely brilliant night here. So I'm giving a three star for the overall venue but definitely check out Secret Garden for their Monday nights.

It's one of those really awful places that some people really love…read more Think fake tan and high heels and really terrible music. BUT, it's all about personal taste. If you're into cheese (not of the Swiss variety), you might be all over this place like a rash. Just tisn't for me...!!! Tip for the wise: lots of shots will get you through. I saw they're starting Casino & Cocktails Night on a Friday though - hate to say it, but sounds kinda fun...!

We had just had a couple of beers at Deep South, but given they weren't serving food yet, we had…read moreopenings in our tummies, and elected to venture inside of this very hip-looking establishment. And we weren't disappointed, even if the place doesn't at all connect with one's idea of what an Irish restaurant should be like - it felt something a concept restaurant in San Francisco's South of Market District (a.k.a "SOMA" - get it?). Anyway, Soho has a full menu of both food and drink - I went for the Blackened Chicken Bap with an ice tea (this in spite of anything and everything under the sun being on the drink menu, to my everlasting dismay I really didn't need any more alcohol at the time). Chicken was nice and juicy, with enough spicy to give me a kick. Chips were enough of a meal in of themselves. I also regretted not having room for dessert, as that menu was in itself pretty enticing... if we had planned our lunch a bit better that day I'm sure we would have had more. Facilities were spotless - going to the toilet was better than going at home. So while this eatery has more in common with a disco than a pub, it is certainly a more than decent option if you ever get 'cultured out' (as has been known to happen).

I will never eat at or visit any of the restaurants associated to Soho. I've visited this…read morerestaurant earlier this week with almost a dozen of my staff members. During dinner, we noticed a confederate flag had been drawn on the daily menu board to support Cajun wings. There was even a suggestion to like the photo or share it on Facebook and Instagram which is horrible. Everyone in my party was absolutely disgusted and became uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I asked for the manager and told her how inappropriate it was to have a flag that in the United States is parallel to a swastika on their board. She apologized and stated that it was the general managers idea and they had received several complaints that day. Seeing something of this nature is a bad look for Cork and Ireland. The fact that the general manager thought this was OK is very clear that the general manager probably shouldn't have a job there. SoHo, you can do better and so can the city of Cork.
