In the last 2 years I have seen 4 different doctors and while 1 of them knew how to get me proper Rx that fit very well and comfortably, that one felt the need to humiliate me with an issue of dry eyes. My Yelp Review for doctor at Hawaii Laser Vision in Honolulu says it all. But going back to Dr. Harada... Doc was extremely helpful with issues and made more sense of my concerns how she explained things was not humiliating at all, in fact she was direct and detailed with the possible causes of dry eyes. I was very honest about how often I wear my contacts and she prescribed a specific eye drops for me, she was also very intellectual about my concerns and offered ways to avoid situations of allergies and dry eyes. Helpful home remedies for relief and explained how issues may be corrected or not at all. When we discussed lasik and other corrective options, she was direct about age and why it may or may not work well. She was elaborate about how some patients can adjust to certain types of corrective lenses in each eye to assist with aging eyes and how others cannot adapt to it therefore end up wearing glasses anyway as they get older. I appreciated how compassionate Dr. Harada was in my case and how she helped me understand the do's, the dont's, and the why's without humiliating or making assumptions of why my issues are a cause for concern and how terrible I am at avoiding dry eyes. I hope to continue seeing Dr. Harada for all my vision needs! I highly recommend her for anyone seeking an amazing doctor! Her staff are very familiar with all the services offered at this eye clinic. When I walked in to make an appointment I brought information I didn't need at the moment but the office manager prepped a file for me to get my documents completed early and I am very grateful she did that because when I showed up to my appointment I forgot my card. Doctor had another staff member who equipped me with insurance benefits and other useful information for future reference! Dr Teal was so patient during her exam and adapted to her communication style by simplifying directions. It was a relief to know she didn't inherit my bad eyes and that she's on track for a child her age. My daughter's favorite part of the appointment was getting to look inside the treasure box post exam! There's so many things for the littles to choose from. The front desk is also a standout. Everyone is so personable and friendly. They make it a point to address everyone by name, which is quite impressive! This is such a positive and uplifting environment. The appointment + wait time took 45min for a follow up dilation for me, and an initial exam for my 3yr old and my 10mo old. My husband's family eye doctor is Dr. Makini here at eyes plus, and so I came in. He and his staffs attention to detail before, during, and after my exam, helped me to have a clear understanding of why I could be experiencing headaches. He also went into detail about children's connection with ADHD and possible eye issues and how many doctors misdiagnose children. The coolest part was also that he uses VR technology to test your eyesight. Not gonna lie that was pretty fun lol After my exam, I learned that I was farsighted and needed glasses. His daughter and assistant Alexis, was so helpful in assisting me with finding lenses that match my style, comfort, and insurance budget. She fully explained the out of pocket cost and was transparent with me from the start. It's been 3 weeks now since I've had my glasses, and although I've needed an adjustment, Dr. Makini is so eager to help me find what works.
