I'd never been to an eye doctor in my 45 years just because I never had the need. When I started to notice decreasing quality of my vision, I made an appointment with Dr. Punzal. The experience was simple and not stressful at all from the beginning! Forms were accessible online to establish care, staff members are friendly in all aspects and they go out of their way to make sure your needs are met and they answer any questions you have. After being there shy of 2 hours, I finally had to walk out. I was there for almost an hour before the assistants started the exams. Waited in the room for the doctor for almost another 30 more minutes. I understand running a little behind but that was disrespectful of my time. I had my daughter with me (who they wouldn't let come back to the room with me) and I finally just had enough. Will never go back. read more

Awful experience! When I called for an appointment, I asked for a contact lens exam and midway through the exam I realized it was a routine exam. The exam itself was very, very rushed. No warnings from the assistant on what each test would entail, including two extremely bright, blinding flashes. Im certainly not opposed to doing those tests but a little heads up would've been nice. Oh, and the masks they make you wear are absolutely unnecessary and useless. I genuinely thought that the website stating masks would be worn was just delayed in being changed from COVID. Even doctor's offices don't require masks anymore... At any rate, I won't be going back to Punzal Vision. I will just wait longer to get contact lenses. read more

I waited two months for an in office eye exam. The hour before my visit I was texted by the office, that my insurance benefits would not cover the visit. it would've been helpful to have been given this information with more advance notice. My insurance does cover vision routine visits, however Punzal Vision bills their eye exams as a medical exam. This is the first time I've ever had this issue! You would think their office would pre authorize the visit to provide necessary information for the patient regarding copays well In advance. What a waste of time! read more

I want to update my review. I suspected the staff had been getting bad information from MauI Jim and it caused a long delay. Honestly waited over an hour just to be seen. I was told I had to wear a mask even on the eye machines, they even taped the mask, the technician was nice but knew nothing about anything about optometry, I was put on a super small room vey tight space. She also asked if I was vaccinated, what has my eye sight in relation to any vaccine, I've been to a dozen eye appointments since Covid and not once I was asked that. Absurd. The Doctor was actually ok after being there for 2:30 hours. In the end they push me to make another appointment that I don't need and I'm obviously going to cancel it. Very pushy, I'm not coming back, no way. Bad experience. read more

Dr. Punzal, and his staff are amazing. The day I came in for my appointment, and the following day when I brought my glasses in to be adjusted, the staff greeted me, and everyone that came in, with genuine happiness. Other than the mask, there's no way I would guess anything bad is happening in the world when recieving their aloha. Wonderful friendly people! Very good at their work. What's surprised me is they don't have a bathroom for clients, and I guess for staff; they're right next to a public convenience so I can only assume that Dr Punzal saw no need to have his own. I had a very positive experience with the doctor and staff at Punzal Vision and words cannot properly express my appreciation for their excellent service. I was on vacation here on Kauai when I started having an eye problem and a Med Stop suggested that I go directly to the hospital to get checked out. On the way, we left a message with Punzal Vision and they immediately contacted us and gave us an appointment to be seen quickly. The doctor was extremely helpful and thorough and after some time went by, was able to determine that my condition was not as serious as we thought. He urged a follow-up appointment back home and even supplied all his test results for my doctor on the mainland. If I lived on Kauai, Punzal Vision would be at the top of my list for eye care! read more

I'm here on vacation and I stepped on my prescription sunglasses! I called Punzal Vision to see if I could come in to have them fixed. The receptionist was very kind. I came in and Karl helped me. Was able to get in to see Dr. Punzal on the same day I made the appointment. It was my first time seeing him and all the staff there were pleasant and helpful. My kitten had managed to scratch my eye while playing and as it turned out, his nail nicked my cornea. Dr. Punzal and his staff got me checked out, diagnosed, and treated within a good amount of time. I am very grateful to my Primary Care Physician for referring me to Dr. Punzal's clinic. I've heard of my parents having to wait a long time when they see their eye doctors (not Dr. Punzal). 5 stars read more

Punzal vision insists on pushing extra testing on you that is not covered by VSP insurance, you will be billed for more services than a regular eye examination, this is a shakedown and they will insist that you need the services when you may not . Check your insurance first and do not let them push you into extra services! Beware ! read more

If you are in need of an Eye Doctor, I highly recommend Punzal Vision. From start to finish everything went smooth. Punzal Vision has "state of the art" equipment, no pen required to fill out forms, as everything is done on an iPad...( maybe I just think it's cool because I haven't been to the eye doctor in over 6 years..) The worst eye examination I ever had. I got Ripped off, time wasted and they puka my pocket, stealing from the poor, Jus to get rich. B.T.W. The star in this rating is for the staff only. They did there job and did well. But I thought I would be well taken cared of. But I got fucked up on this recommendation. What a nightmare, I would of hoped that the Doctor even cared at all. Dr. Punzai made a script for me but my eyes didn't adjust to the glasses as how they should have, even after wearing them for a couple of weeks they made me really nauseous and dizzy so I knew it was the wrong prescription. I let them know and they told me that they wanted to cut my prescription in half as if that was going to fix my eyes to my glasses. I knew it was wrong the script was the exact same on both sides and as I know my eyes are different, one eye is weaker then the other therefore my script is wrong and halving the script I already have is supposed to fix it. Hello, did u really get a degree for what You are supposed to do? Is help them see with the right glasses. But is that how u take care your patients or just the wallet. Because with all that said and done I had to pay for half of the glasses cost to return it. How rude and fucked up is that, like I said I think he cares about the wallet not us patients who really needs the right prescription to see, and not even to offer a re-examination or try to find the right glasses for my eyes. Not even that. But to half my script to fix it, are you trying to make my eyes worse then they already are or to better them. Hell fricken NO !!!! He jus wants to get paid. ‍ read more

My wife had Dr Punzal do an exam at Costco. She then bought the glasses at Costo. She can not see at all through the glasses. She asked for an appointment to verify that the prescription is correct and that the glasses were made correctly, but they would not do that. They insist that we pay for another full exam. All she asked for was a 5 minute check, but they won't do that. Very disappointed with the doctor and Costco! read more
