    Terrible service!!!!!!

Just got here this morning, the service is very very terrible. The receptionist was very rude and inconsiderate. They made us wait for room for 5 hours. One of a fine receptionist did told us she can provide us room in half hour but the other one made us wait for 5 hours. Who does that to their guest plus when there are 6 kids. Very very bad service. Will now have to wait and see how rest of the stay goes on here.

Amazing location! Ski in, ski out, right in the village and all the action. We had a loft suite…read moreroom and it was perfect for our family of four. Parking garage was great. Hot tub and other amenities were on point. Never waited longer than a minute for an elevator. Staff was attentive and while they were busy, they definitely all deserve five stars. We would definitely stay here again. With that said a few things of note: 1. We were never told about the ski lockers or provided our combo for the lock. Perhaps a newbie ski family mistake for not assuming, but also frustrating. 2. I had called about clearance height for vehicles as we wanted to use our Thule on our SUV. The front desk was not much help. Had we known there is a valet lot for vehicles with rooftop boxes, we would have done it for the nominal fee. As I am sure many parents can relate, driving in a snow storm when you can't see out the rear is not fun... roof box solves that. 3. The restaurant on site is lackluster. Service is on point; however, food is just alright and pricey, it is chaotic, and why in the heck only "reservations get window seats" is a policy is beyond any family we spoke to. All these awesome window tables looking at the village and lake that go empty because "walk ins" are subjected to interior seating despite all those tables being empty our entire dining session is beyond me. This isn't Manhattan. 4. The restaurant bar, given how nice the rest of of the hotel is, looked pretty sad. You could see all the shelf lighting was defunct, it looked tired and not well kept. As a business owner myself, and for how front and center the bar area is, my gosh keep it tidy, lit up, and gleaming with some pizzaz. Thankfully for those of us with older kids it is open until midnight, and once again the staff is Johnny on the spot, but geez it has seen better days. I realize it sounds silly, but this hotel is pretty awesome and with the large lobby the bar area should be the North Star, not something I look at and wonder "are they closed already?"

I get that this is a fairly trivial compliant and there are more important things than a bad Internet connection, but the rudeness and disrespect they gave to their customers when I tried to ask them about it just bothered me and put a stain on my entire trip and I'm sorry that I stayed here. They literally did not care at all that one of their guests was having an issue and seemed put out that I asked them about it. If you have a choice between this place and literally anywhere else, I'd suggest anywhere else. I feel like a jerk complaining about something like this, but their attitude towards my bringing it up was even worse than the bother of not having wifi.

Not there yet! We…read moreconsidered holding off reviewing this recent arrival to the Georgian Bay accommodation pantheon, given that much of its intended offering is not yet built. But because it is already marketing itself as a luxury experience, and to our mind charging as such, we feel the property is fair game to be reviewed "as is". And as it is at the moment, The Dorchester is, in fact, a glorified rooming house, given that it only offers bedrooms - no restaurant, no bar, no room service, no concierge, no minibar, and no reception or housekeeping after about 5PM. All you get for your money is your bedroom and free parking. In the morning, for breakfast, you need to hunt down one of Collingwood's rare-as-hens-teeth diners that open before 9AM (i.e. McDonalds). In the evening, in the immediate vicinity, there are scarce watering holes for a pre-dinner drink (except for one that seems bizarrely to only offer varieties of Caesars). Given that you only get a bedroom here, we can happily report that our King room was mostly excellent. Nice bed, superb bathroom, quiet, a cozy armchair. From a strictly personal standpoint, we do wish however, that guests could opt for sheets & blankets rather than the duvet provided, but such option is not available. Conversations with staff (during the hours that there WAS staff) revealed that a combination of water/plumbing and city permit issues have delayed construction on what is envisaged to be a bar, a restaurant, and a conference/meeting facility. We can only hope that all that happens, and soon. A rumour we heard is that the wonderful Tremont Cafe might somehow be part of the dining solution. Having just eaten there, we have our fingers crossed that this proves to be true. We would return just for that. But until this luxury-level rooming house becomes a fully fledged hotel, we will likely not return. We'd be interested in hearing whether other guests feel the same as us about their experience at The Dorchester.

We had 2 very bad experiences here. 1. The fire alarm was triggered at midnight. No one knew what was happening. The concierge was a poor part-time worker who didn't know anything. My friends went down to check and found firefighters were already at the front door of the building and all residents were sent to another building in front of the hotel thus my friends told us to go, too. Many residents said they were informed to evacuate ASAP. However, nobody informed us during that time. There were many ways to inform us and we even called the concierge. We were lucky because it was just a false alarm; otherwise, we would be trapped inside the burning building. 2. Our card was charged an unknown amount after checking out. It happened after we had checked out for an hour. Fortunately, we were still having breakfast in the village and had not gone off yet. We went back to the hotel and they just told me that was a mistake and gave us a refund immediately. Although they're small things, however, it showed it had some troubles with the management. The price of this hotel wasn't cheap so that's unacceptable.

Mosaic is located next to the conference center and it seemed like most of the guests were business clientele. This was nice as it was very quiet for us during our stay. Check-in was pleasant. We had booked passes for other events with Blue Mountain and they printed out our wristbands for us at check-in so we had everything up front. The room that we had was large and comfortable. It was a one bedroom with kitchenette and living area. There was a door from the bedroom to the washroom and one from the common area as well. The kitchenette was furnished with basic cooking supplies (spatulas, ladles) and dishware. There was a built-in stove top into the counter so you could definitely get your chef on. The room also had a fireplace which I was excited to use. It didn't work on the first night so I reported this to the front-desk staff. They had maintenance come and look at it while we were out of the room and had it up and running by the time we got back. I usually give the room a quick wipe down and I'm pleased to report that everything was spic and span. There wasn't any surprise dust that got picked up. Mosaic has some amenities including a year-round heated pool and a hot tub. The fitness area is located here too. You can pick up towels here for your workout and the pool. In the middle of our stay they closed the hot tub for renovations. They were able to provide me with a key card to the neighboring Seasons suites so we could use that one instead.

We are a team with younger children, and parents made a point of supervising kids closely, following curfews, and being respectful to staff. Despite this, we were treated with suspicion and hostility from the moment staff realized we were a hockey team. On our first night, the hotel offered an empty room for kids to play mini sticks. The following day, when kids asked again, we were offered a different room that was dirty and had broken glass on the floor. Staff were notified, but no apology or concern was shown. That evening, while supervised kids were using the pool, another family (not part of our group) opened an unlocked side door and ran into the snow before jumping back into the pool. Some of our kids followed. There were no warning signs and the door was not locked. The pool was immediately closed by staff without testing water levels, and parents were falsely accused of children urinating in the hot tub. By 8:30 p.m., all children were in their rooms with parents. The following morning, our team manager received a rude email accusing our children of running the halls late at night and harassing guests--none of which occurred. The situation escalated further the next evening when staff aggressively confronted parents at the pool and accused a guest of having alcohol without cause. When another parent calmly attempted to speak to the desk manager to de-escalate, the staff member pushed past her and retreated to her office, where police were called. The OPP attended and confirmed there was no disorderly behavior. Everyone was allowed to remain for the night. Beyond staff behavior, the hotel itself was dirty and poorly maintained. Our room had a dead bug and personal items left behind, public areas were not well kept, and breakfast service was slow and inattentive. We would not recommend this hotel to families, sports teams, or anyone expecting professional service or basic cleanliness.
