I have never struggled as much in writing a review as I did with this place. The regular rate for a standard room is $125/night. I picked up a promo where they gave me the room for $79/night. However; this rate also came with a 90 min session where they try and sell you some time share. But that's another review. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days in Collingwood to check out the sights and sounds before the March break crowds. At first sight this dated hotel seem up to date and modern. However; it's nothing more than a face lift. Kind of like that first date you go on, where she gets all dressed up, puts on make up and smells nice. But in the morning you swear you NEVER touch tequila again or her! But seriously; it's not that bad...for the price. Even at $129/night. The hallway carpet was a little dirty, the paint job is sub par and the hotel is over all, dated. The rooms are comfortable, the beds are amazing and the washroom is spacious and clean. The staff have been nothing but courteous and professional. I dropped $5.00 for housekeeping after our first night for essentially just to make the bed. I'm a neat freak to begin with so there wasn't much to do other than empty garbage, make the beds and replenish some used towels. However, the beds were made hastily and the room was not vacuumed. Make sure you hit a few banks if you decide to have breakfast here. $13/pp for a breakfast buffet which includes coffee or juice. The breakfast was ok, but you would be better off slamming back some rotten ronnies (McDonald's) or eggspecation. The recreation centre is abysmal. It's....well, refer to my pics. The path leading to the Rec Centre is littered with dog shit and the path looks like it needs repair. They have a salt water pool. There are windows from a lobby corridor that allows everyone in the hotel to ogle you from afar when they walk by. Furthermore; it's only when you use the pool and the adjoined hot tub that you realize it's not all that clean. Pipes are rusting, paint flaking on ceiling, grungy grout and unknown substances floating about quickly had me and my family heading for the showers. Despite this sounding like a total negative review, it's more me knit picking on little things because I have a great expectations. If you have been to a true 5 star hotel, and won't settle for anything less...this is NOT the place for you. This is a decent place to come with the family for a resonably priced hotel while in Collingwood. Bring Tequila, it makes everything look better. Booked this hotel because of memories of a stay here about 25 years ago. Always thought of it as the best place to stay in Collingwood. But it is not. The room was much more expensive (even on the advance non-refundable rate) than comparable hotels in the area. It was pretty basic, not accounting for the construction as we had one of the "renovated" rooms. The furniture was off (only one bedside lamp?) and fine - but nothing special. Should have stayed at one of the motel chains for the same experience, but much cheaper. The strangest thing was the soaps were all squeezable bottles which were very silly as you couldn't use one hand to access them and the soap dripped all over the place. We try the hotel for a night. The front staff was very friendly. The room is very noisy. The fan will not shut off and we try to turn the thermostat off and the fan still on. The pillow is so high and was not comfortable. One thing I don't understand there bar close so early at 10pm. We went there at 9:30 and they said it was last call already. what kind of resort that can close that early? read more

We stayed here for two nights during a weekend getaway. As previous reviews have noted, this place looks old as evident by hallways and plumbing. Service was top notch, staff pretty nice and accommodating. Room was clean but not Marriott or Holiday Inn standard. Bed was super comfy. But I lost sleep both nights though due to noise made by plumbing. And it was loud. Everytime someone used bathroom in adjoining rooms I guess. Other than that no issues. We tried Chicken Wings but were left unimpressed. $16 for a pound. Not really worth it. Didn't try the pool so can't really comment about it. I did share my experience while checking out and I was told they would place a work order. Hope they fix the issue for next guest's sake. read more

I booked a week at Cranberry using a timeshare exchange. For context, my "home" resort is in Orlando, but for the past 12 years, I've exchanged my unit in Orlando for other places. I pay $800/year plus a $140/exchange fee for my annual timeshare exchange vacation. I checked in to Cranberry on 6 July 2013, and now on day 3, I'm so dissatisfied that I may check out and just forfeit the rest of my vacation. I was assigned a room in the hotel-like facility that is across the road and about 1/4 mile away from the main resort. The entire building is under renovation and looks horrible, but I could deal with that if not for the fact that my room is also still under renovation. After what felt like my millionth complaint the front desk, I was informed that while the unit is under renovation, it is considered to be "rentable." Well, maybe for the cost of a cheap motel, but certainly not at the level I expect for the nearly $1000 I spend on my exchanges every year. I should have been wary months ago when I booked. I sent two emails to the resort using their contact/mail-to form on the resort website. Both emails went unanswered. Upon arriving last Saturday, the woman working the check-in desk, while not specifically un-friendly, was certainly not welcoming. She and her colleague who was working with another guest never smiled, never said "welcome" and made more eye contact with their paperwork and computer screens than with guests. My room was unbelievably noisy. The folks in the adjoining room may as well have moved in with me because it was almost as if their voices and moving about were actually amplified! Additionally, the building noise (loud drilling) went on until after 8:00 last night and loud hammering and banging woke me at 7:30 this morning. Again, front desk completely unconcerned--told me that the work usually started around 8:00am. The wifi door keys to my room have failed four times, necessitating a 1/4-mile (each way) walk over to the main resort to get them recoded. The brand new electrical outlets in the room have some kind of hermetic safety feature that prevents you from actually inserting plugs into the outlets. Yesterday morning, a team of 3 (very sympathetic) maintenance men popped in for over 1/2-hour trying to figure out how to work them. They finally figured it out and showed me, but of course the next time I tried it after they left, no-go. You can't even force the plugs into the outlets. My room should be equipped with a stove top, but instead there is a gaping hole where it should be. There is another gaping hole where some appliance, presumably a dishwasher should be. Meanwhile, the room was not equipped with any dish soap or drain rack. The room was dirty. No one had vacuumed up the builder's dust from the recently tiled floors. The shower stall was not only dirty, but had dried up grout all over it, which I could not remove. The balcony floor had not been swept and had excess concrete dust and cigarette butts all over. The two chairs out there still had the stickers on them. The bathroom has a very small stand-alone sink with no shelving or vanity to put toiletries on. I just lined up my soap, toothpaste, etc. on a towel on the floor. The extra towels supplied were placed inside the shower stall (not on a shelf), so they also had to moved to the floor outside the shower or they'd be drenched. The floor did get drenched anyway due to the shower curtain being a good 10 inches too short, which sent water gushing out onto the floor. The room was not stocked with basic kitchenette supplies (can opener, paper towels, dish soap, etc.). I don't expect much, but I've exchanged for units like this before, and the basic starter supplies should be there. There were not even any filters for the tiny little coffee pot, so I had to run out and buy them. The front desk, once again showing no concern, insisted that filters and starter coffee bags were inside the machine--as if I were not standing there looking at it when I called! Another annoyance--the abstract artwork hanging in the room and hallways has Christian scriptures engraved onto little brass plaques glued to it. I find that inappropriate as this was not advertised as a Christian or religious resort. Several of the amenities listed for this (gold-star-rated!) resort are not to be found--jacuzzi, laundry facility, spa (?), but that could perhaps be because there is no brochure, map, or literature of any kind in the room. Very odd for a timeshare exchange since there are usually lots of side excursions available. When finally I got a housekeeper to come look at the many problems in this room (having not received any response from the calls I made to the front desk or the email i sent to customer service), her response was "I can't believe they put anyone in this room. It's not ready." Yeah. Tell me. So this year, my nearly $1000/week vacation is a loss. I recommend you stay away! read more

This review is actually for the Living Water Resort which is being developed at the Cranberry resort. I had read some bad reviews online for both resorts, was very particular when booking the room and took the deal that involved the timeshare pitch. I made sure they put us in a newer phase of the Living Water development. They did this and upgraded our room to a very large two bedroom condo. This isn't the nicest place and I am not sure how well it will hold up. But given that it was just built it was certainly nice enough for the low price we paid for our two night stay. The timeshare pitch was closer to two hours instead of the 1.5 hours they promised. While one of the staff selling us was genuinely easygoing and nice, another was quite pushy and a bit rude. All in all, to get the voucher at the restaurant that was good enough, the large two bedroom and free access for one to the baths at the Scandinave Spa we were glad we did it. read more

The room was adequate if you have not paid a lot of money. The room service was very bad, yet they leave an envelop requesting a tip. We were there for two nights, I could write my name in the dust on the coffee maker. They didn't clean the sink or leave any fresh towels or face clothes, just folded up the used ones and laid them on the counter. I am all for green, but want clean face clothes every morning thank you! The front desk service was good, they didn't have a lot of helpful suggestions for things to do but were friendly. The breakfast in the restaurant is expensive and gross with a bad hot table and bad/slow service. Don't waste your money, Eggsmart is just down the street. I suggest just avoiding Cranberry Resorts! One of a fine receptionist did told us she can provide us room in half hour but the other one made us wait for 5 hours. Who does that to their guest plus when there are 6 kids. Very very bad service. Honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. After a long day of traveling cross country, I checked in at Cranberry. My first room was literally under construction and the shower was torn apart. There was even a maintenance guy in the room working on the mess. I called the front desk from the room and spoke to a younger man with tons of attitude who told there were no comparable rooms left in the hotel and I could either downgrade or move across the street. I dragged all my luggage back downstairs to the front desk and asked to speak with a manager who was equally as rude but booked me in to a new room. When I entered the new room, there was a shirtless stranger shaving his face! I once again dragged all of my stuff to the front desk and conceded to the downgraded room. The only comp they offered me was two breakfast vouchers (worst food I've ever eaten). I could've done without the vouchers if the staff had been friendlier or more sympathetic. We did a timeshare exchange at the Living Water Resort, part of the Cranberry chain. We decided to stay at this resort the last week of September because it's hard to get in during the more popular seasons. It was kind of the off-season. It was after the summer rush and nearby Wasaga Beach was already all boarded up. We were also a couple weeks early for peak Fall colors and early for ski season. So it was a very quiet area during the week. It was a nice time to check out local wineries and cideries and weekend apple festivals. The resort was very clean and our studio room included a mini fridge, stove and plates. There was a computer table with free Wi-Fi. No table to est at so we had to est in our bed. We did not have a balcony. I enjoyed the free fitness classes offered each day. Great Pilates instructor. We would love to come again but in season when there is more to do during the week. read more

On my first visit to the driving range on a Wednesday at 420pm, I was told that the range is closed for maintenance. On my second and final visit, once again, the driving range was closed at 130pm on a Sunday in July! The club was busy and I was told that they did not have a staff member available to pick up the range balls. My wife and I bought this weekend deal in the summer of 2014 and we booked for January 16,2015 for my birthday, we paid 120 for the weekend with some vouchers, great deal it seemed, the only requirement was we attend a timeshare semair for 2 hours sat morning, will we got there and wasn't impressed with the motel style hotel, pool area is falling apart and the whole place was dated,it comparable to a truckstop motel. At least it seemed clean so we decided to make the most of it, we had a glass of wine the Friday nite and relaxed in our room with very bad tv, really!! Well we had our day planned for the sat but my wife took ill 6 am that sat morning, so I decided she was really bad and to check out and take her to the hospital,! Stayed at Living Water Resort. Room & cleanliness excellent. I do find service staff make this place thier own playground: in aqua fitness class the instructor blasted the music, we covered our ears and it seemed the instructor cared more about her good time than guests comfort or hearing safety. Lakeside Grill was a disaster a real miss on room temperature and again music too loud With food order wrong without correcting it. Management rude! Was asked to do a presentation and was interrogated about may things and the moment I questioned how they received my information the aggressive woman wearing a "Love" shirt said "You don't know how your here?" I wouldn't have asked if I did. When I asked this ....what her name was! She lashed out that she isn't in the past tense and that she's still living! OMG She never introduced herself therefore it's a phase to say what was your name! Just nuts! I must have patients of steel! How on earth do some people have a job dealing with the public! Check out the recently opened Lakeside Seafood & Grill located at the Living Waster Resort. The main courses, although priced little above the norm, includes a variety of dishes. I had trout and others had perch which were both excellent. Also, the NY steak and grilled chicken were very tasty. Congratulations to Chef Marc and his staff for giving us a very pleasant evening! We used the pool and paint chips were falling from the ceiling into the pool like rain. I notified management they closed the pool only to turn around and reopen it the next morning. Stayed here for two nights past weekend. The hotel staff were very pleasant, the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The memories restaurant is also great. The only negative was the heater in our room. It was so loud! There also isn't a thermostat so it just stays on, continuously blowing hot air at the heat level you pick so our room got warmer and warmer throughout the day. Book this place through a time share. Booked a studio under the impression it comes w a kitchen so we can cook after snowboarding. When we first checked in they said they upgraded us to a bigger room. When we got there.. We got a hotel room w/ two Queen beds, comes w a mini fridge that's it. We had so much food and there was no kitchen. Called front desk and told them we were under the impression w a kitchen. They said it was no issue.. They'll upgrade us to a one bedroom or Jr suite at no extra cost. We were prepared to pay the additional cost.. Bc we didn't want to throw out all our food. Granted, the dish washer and fireplace wasn't working in our room... But we didn't really care.. We just wanted a kitchen to cook our food. I mean the decor is a little dated but we're just looking for a place to crash after snowboarding. The beds were clean and comfy. Tiles by the toilet were cracked and moved when you stepped on them. Room was very nice and very clean. Stayed in new building at Living Water. Would have given it five stars but had to call every day for three days to get a leak fixed under kitchen sink. Then had beer in lobby/lounge, young desk clerk told me I was breaking the law. Really illegal to drink on private property. read more

This is a Time Share I bought into years ago and have yet to use it because 2 years in a row they messed up my bookings. Their service is the worse that I have ever encountered. How do I know? "Fly by Night Operation- Totally Unprofessional" We booked with another couple on a promotion in October 2014. The reservation was for June 2015. We had our confirmation in hand, where they clearly stipulated the penalties for us cancelling e.g. the full rate would be charged to us. Three weeks before we were to check in we get a call. They are cancelling our reservation due to overbooking. If that is not bad enough. No offer of rescheduling. They are just refunding our payment. Now you are probably saying what we did. "But you booked in October". At minimum they should be cancelling people that booked later... offering compensation, being apologetic..". No none of that. Not even so much as.. we regret this. I tried phoning the manager and left a message to express my dissatisfaction. No response. I emailed. No response. I don't even believe they overbooked. They regretted their promotion perhaps. Decided that they could fill their resort at the full rate, perhaps... Lesson learned. Don't ever book with Vitality Assurance Vacations or Cranberry Resort!!!
