Living Water Resort and Spa - Gorgeous View from patio

Living Water Resort and Spa

I had a wonderful time at Living Water Resort and Spa. We spent a long weekend there recently. The…read moreresort is family-friendly, has a pool with a slide, a playground, and is right on the water. The rooms were very nice; far nicer than the price would suggest. They were spacious, bright, and had high-end features, like a rain shower. The rooms were clean and had great views. We also enjoyed dining at the restaurant. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and reasonably priced. Lastly, the spa was a really nice experience. Completely unique and very rejuvenating. It defies words. It's really something you have to experience to understand and appreciate. Give yourself a break, head up to Collingwood for a stay at Living Water Resort, and return refreshed!

They have hired a many Filipinos as the reason why the resort remains clean and they're very courteous and friendly. Always smiling and easy to talk with. We use the gym and pool facilities a lot. I just wish they had dumbells btw 8-15 lbs. They installed a new sauna in the men's change room since the previous one kept failing. However, it doesn't seem to function well either. From what I see the owner of Living Waters is a good corporate citizen and supports activities around Collingwood and Clearview including the curling club and churches. God bless him abundantly. First of all, I don't have any problem with their rooms and other facilities. The hardware was…read moreactually very good. The problems lay in their management. We had 2 very bad experiences here. 1. The fire alarm was triggered at midnight. No one knew what was happening. The concierge was a poor part-time worker who didn't know anything. My friends went down to check and found firefighters were already at the front door of the building and all residents were sent to another building in front of the hotel thus my friends told us to go, too. Many residents said they were informed to evacuate ASAP. However, nobody informed us during that time. There were many ways to inform us and we even called the concierge. We were lucky because it was just a false alarm; otherwise, we would be trapped inside the burning building. 2. Our card was charged an unknown amount after checking out. It happened after we had checked out for an hour. Fortunately, we were still having breakfast in the village and had not gone off yet. We went back to the hotel and they just told me that was a mistake and gave us a refund immediately. Although they're small things, however, it showed it had some troubles with the management. The price of this hotel wasn't cheap so that's unacceptable.

Gord and I spent Friday and last night at Mosaic in Blue Mountain Village. We've stayed there a…read morecouple times before and liked it. We had a one bedroom suite again. There was an outdoor pool and hot tub (which are open from 7am to 11pm). There are towels in the fitness room to use at the pools. The air was below freezing and though the pool was heated, it wasn't heated enough for us. Ha! There were kids playing in it and they had no problem with it. We did spend time in the hot tub, which was a popular spot. The Mosaic is in the village, walkable to everything ... restaurants, shopping, hiking and more. They have 163 suites ranging from bachelors to three-bedrooms. There were three elevators but only one was working ... which was a pain as we had a long wait sometimes (we were on the fourth floor). Nearby outdoor parking is free but we got the heated indoor parking under the hotel for $15/night (though, we didn't move the car once we arrived Friday afternoon). Basic WIFI was free for six devices ... while it wasn't overly speedy, we were able to do what we wanted to do online. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, glasses, cutlery, etc. There was a coffee maker (and supplies), fridge, microwave, toaster, burners, etc. We ate our meals out every day but could have cooked our meals in our suite had if we wanted. The iwa Spa is attached to the hotel. Yesterday we did a restorative yoga class in their warmed Gan*ban volcanic rock studio (you get the added benefits of cleansing, pain relief, deeper easier movement and incredible stress reduction). Patsy was great! It was a really nice weekend and we look forward to coming back again.

We stayed at the Best Western Mariposa with our family during our youngest son's hockey tournament,…read moreand this was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We are a team with younger children, and parents made a point of supervising kids closely, following curfews, and being respectful to staff. Despite this, we were treated with suspicion and hostility from the moment staff realized we were a hockey team. On our first night, the hotel offered an empty room for kids to play mini sticks. The following day, when kids asked again, we were offered a different room that was dirty and had broken glass on the floor. Staff were notified, but no apology or concern was shown. That evening, while supervised kids were using the pool, another family (not part of our group) opened an unlocked side door and ran into the snow before jumping back into the pool. Some of our kids followed. There were no warning signs and the door was not locked. The pool was immediately closed by staff without testing water levels, and parents were falsely accused of children urinating in the hot tub. By 8:30 p.m., all children were in their rooms with parents. The following morning, our team manager received a rude email accusing our children of running the halls late at night and harassing guests--none of which occurred. The situation escalated further the next evening when staff aggressively confronted parents at the pool and accused a guest of having alcohol without cause. When another parent calmly attempted to speak to the desk manager to de-escalate, the staff member pushed past her and retreated to her office, where police were called. The OPP attended and confirmed there was no disorderly behavior. Everyone was allowed to remain for the night. Beyond staff behavior, the hotel itself was dirty and poorly maintained. Our room had a dead bug and personal items left behind, public areas were not well kept, and breakfast service was slow and inattentive. We would not recommend this hotel to families, sports teams, or anyone expecting professional service or basic cleanliness.

WIFI (which was quick) and parking were free. There is a restaurant in the hotel, the Grape and Olive Wine & Martini Bistro, but there are lots (Swiss Chalet, McDonald's, etc.) within walking distance ... I had supper last night at Kelsey's, which is across the street. I had breakfast in the restaurant in the hotel this morning ... two eggs, peameal bacon, toast and homefries ($8) and a glass of milk. It was good! I'd stayed here again.

Friendly staff all around. PROs: -Clean, retro 90's , spacious and homey rusticroom, felt somewhat mountain lodge. -Bathroom felt more dated, but worked well enough -FREE PARKING -Coffee Machine -Refrigerator -Medium sized LCD TV -Air conditioning -$40 vouchers for the in house restaurants -Free access to the Gondola and a few other activities -Indoor pool and 5 hot tubs/jacuzzis. CONs: -7-8 minute walk to the Blue Mountain Village feels exhausting in the sun, or afterwards. No Lyfts/Ubers or shuttle during shoulder season. -Included Activities aren't all that exciting. -Nearby restaurants and shops are all tourist traps, but local Canadians seem to love this place. Lots of stag/hen and bachelor/bachelorette parties take place here. I would definitely stay here again and again, or the sister property Chelsea Inn is just as good.

A throwback to the early 1980s est., Blue Mountain Inn is a welcoming stay with many inclusions to make up for the dated decor. Definately serviceable, friendly staff who smile when they take a 100 a night deposit (for what Im really uncertain) but it was refunded roght after. The room itself had a locked window with a view of the parking lot, blinking lights in the elevator and of course, crazy smashing doors. Lets fix those guys! But with some vouchers and free parking and wifi its a nice place a way up from the village. -Zuk
