I really don't get to this place as often as I would like, but I guess it's because it is a little…read morebit out of my way (though not a huge amount). The thing I love about this place is the huge beer garden out the back, which even has undercover areas for times when it is pelting down with rain. They even have a barbeque, but I doubt you can just come here with your own meat and start cooking it up. The inside is pretty cool as well, and they even have trivia nights (not that I have ever participated in one). Oh, I also recently discovered that they also have a happy hour, which is also pretty cool. I've got to come here more often.

Not quite the old school pokey local, not as fancy as a gastro pub…read more There are a few different sitting areas to choose from, we had a table of 12 and very comfortably sat together (albeit under the Telly with the footy going). Strong local presence to take advantage of the lunch specials on offer while chilling with the Sunday arvo game. Quite a few of us got the Parma, I had the torpedo calamari out of curiosity (so named of the shape! Felt a bit silly having to google it). The meals were generous in serving size, especially considering the price. A good section of craft beers, you can even buy a stein to take home. Not many wines on offer, but it is a beer establishment after all. Big beer garden out the back, also a pool table inside available. Serviceable and fit for purpose as a friendly local.

This part of the hotel is also home to a large bar and TAB, but you can order food from the bistro to enjoy in the more casual setting. Fridays here go from relaxed to party HQ as the DJ livens things up as young and old head past security into the hot spot Terrace Bar. Saturday night is 80's music night so head here to get your retro dance moves out! To enjoy the bistro on weekends or in groups it is best to book as it gets busy. It is worth the prep time though as the food is good pub grub. The large dining room is loud and casual and you will have to head up to the counter to order your meal and the bar to grab a drink. If your toting kids then the games area at the back of the bistro should distract them while you linger over coffee or desert. The LP Hotel has a gaming area which is filled with pokies if your into that type of thing (I'm not) which also has a separate bar. My tip? Drop by the bistro on a Wednesday night for $12 Parma and Pot! If your taking your party on the road then the LP Hotel Bottle shop is located 200 metres down the road, to the right as you exit the upper car park.

I've been wanting to come here ever since I went past it years ago to seem them redeveloping it, and while it was quite hike to get to (especially if you don't have a car) I was really glad that I did. The bush setting certainly gives it a lot of character, and the beer garden, which looks out over the creek, is a great place to spend your time. It appears that it turns into a night spot after 7:00 pm because they bring out the ID checker and station a bouncer at the entrance. This is certainly a place I would like to return to some time.

Having not seen it before, and pretty much picking it out as one of those trendy innercity bars (not that Preston could be considered inner city, but it is on the south side of Bell Street, so as far as I'm concerned that pretty much classifies it as inner city) I decided to check it out. I have to say that as soon as I stepped into the warehouse (it looks like it used to me a mechanic of some sort) I was immediately impressed. This is definitely the type of bar that I could spend a lot of time sitting with friends or just reading a good book. What's even better is that you can order food from the burger joint next door and they have no issue with you eating it here. Definitely on my must visit again sometime soon list.

Are we in some kind of alternative hospitality universe here, or what!? The Raccoon Club is incredible: a warehouse styled building in the middle of seemingly nowhere (but conveniently located right in front of a tram stop) this is the kind of place that more neighbourhoods need. A huge space, great tunes, welcoming publicans, board games, a pool table, the option to call the local thai/pizza/indian and have them deliver it right to your couch or oversized bar stool...you're going to want to silently high-five the world when you first come here, and that's before you even think about having a drink. Is that a giant list of locally crafted beers and ciders I spy? Why yes, I think it is. And hang on a second, what's with the incredibly well stocked back bar? 15 types of Gin? Weird stuff I've never heard of? Good god, can I bring my tent and pitch it in the corner for a few weeks?

Gotta love the brunny! Wednesday night's been a usual spot for me and my mates since we found out…read moreabout open mic night. Last semester a bunch of my international friends would muster up the courage after a few drinks to play but now I just go for the 10 dollar jugs & random acts. I don't come here enough seeing as it's literally only a block away but this will change once exams finish up. I'm super bummed I can't go tonight which is why I've decided to get the word out for any one who may be available. With the ram stop right outside theres no reason for anyone to pass up the opportunity to chill at the brunny. Go grab some cheap beer and head here for a comfy night lounging with live music ASAP! There are always random bands playing from around the area and it's always fun to hear new music. The best part though, yeah you didn't think it could get any better did you? Well, the best part is the beer garden. You know a place has got to be good when they've mastered the layout of each room to suit pretty much anyone and everyone.

I'd never been before but everyone seemed to think this was a good venue for cheap drinks and relaxed atmosphere. That is exactly the perception i got out of it. You cannot miss that crazy purple sign above the door and once you enter the dimly lit venue has not a lot going for it, but everyone inside is totally chilled giving the place a real laid-back feel. We arrived and they were sitting out back so i ordered a drink and headed out to the large beer garden. There's a large wooden communal table with small slum-couches scattered around. The venue is usually busy but never really feels 'packed out', such a great little place.
