We have come to this pub for years in the winter time when we go for a walk and a sledge, and we popped in again this weekend. Great pub for a drink surrounded by beautiful scenery which welcomes muddy walkers. An older style and more traditional pub with two roaring fires. Lots of beams a little bar and a bit of taxidermy fill the main bar area and there's a restaurant area round the back too. They do food, the menu is found on a huge chalk board above one of the fires. Fairly basic, stodgy pub food but what else would you want. Roast beef baguettes, pies, they will even do you scampi or chicken and chips in a basket. On a Sunday they do a great carvery which is ideal to refuel with after a long walk in the countryside. Great traditional pub. read more
