    Ranchero Flatbread
    Tito K.

We came to Crafthouse after playing a couple of games at Cool Springs. The restaurant is about five minutes from Cool Springs. The Atmosphere is great with lots of seating, a large bar area, and a nice stage. I wouldn't mind going back and watching a show. I came with my son and his friend. The food was just ok. We started out with Truffle Fries. They were kind of warm. I did enjoy the sauce that was with them. My son had boneless wings. His buddy had chicken Mac and cheese. I had the ranchero Flatbread. Everything we had was just ok. The menu is pretty extensive and also pricey in my opinion for pretty mediocre food.

This review is purely about the experience for a concert as we did not eat anything when we were there. I'm sure the experience varies based on the band and whether or not the show is sold out. Ticket fees are high which is annoying but expected. If you weren't already lined up before the doors even opened you weren't getting a seat. We went and picked out a spot on the floor. It was as a bit difficult to order drinks as they didn't seem to have a good system in place. In addition it was frustrating as their digital beer menu was not up to date and a few beers we tried to order had kicked. Initially I would say they had a decent selection but then since they were out of things the list didn't seem to have as much variety. Beers were a bit pricey for what you got. I'm not sure if the prices are the same during regular dinner service versus a show or not. Parking can be tough and be warned that areas around the venue do tow. They try to push you to use their valet for sure which isn't always ideal and then there was quite a line to get your car at the end. They park vehicles in the handicap spots (that don't have handicap placards) and park cars in the lines between these spots. This certainly doesn't seem like the way to do things to me. We lucked out and were able to get a spot to the side right in the main lot. By the time the main act went on the floor area had filled in but not to the point of being overly crowded so you could still move about as needed. There was several people vaping before and during the show despite their being a smoking area outside. Security didn't seem to care. The sound was off balance towards the beginning with the instruments overpowering the vocals but they did seem to get it corrected. Overall the sound was good and not overpowering. They do have bowling and it appears axe throwing in addition to the restaurant and music venue so it could be a cool place to have a night out. It's across town for us so I'm not sure we would return unless it's for a concert we really want to see.

    Cajun chicken sandwich

I am surprised this place has such low reviews. I actually quite enjoyed the meal I had here. I got to try out the cajun chicken sandwich with a side of their fries. It was very tasty. The chicken was juicy and seasoned nearly perfectly. It had the perfect tenderness to it; not too plasticy like at other places. Tasted natural and fresh, which is surprising for a bar. The bun was also nice. They cover the chicken in a tad of cheese but don't overdo it, which I like. The Chipotle aioli sauce was amazing. The perfect balance of spiciness and creaminess. Went perfectly with the chicken, and was also a great dipping sauce for the fries. The fries were crispy and flavorful. Seasoned very well without being excessive. Pretty close to perfect texture. Very nice overall. All in all, a great bar. Worth trying out for sure. I recommend their chicken and their fries....and the aioli is delicious too.

We came for bar bingo this night. We made a reservation since there was group of us. I have a mix of feelings about this place to be honest. Our service was lacking. I worked in the restaurant industry so I understand being busy, but we were here well before bingo to ensure we could take advantage of happy hour specials and it was like our waitress was waiting for HH to be over before she offered up her services. We had to flag her down and she seemed annoyed or rushed the entire time we were talking to her. She didn't explain anything about the menu or HH. I ordered the pierogies that I got tossed in buffalo sauce. I wasn't really expecting much but they ended up being pretty darn good! I would get again! They definitely weren't Mrs. T's pierogies which i respected even more. The Bingo itself was fine, the person running it wasn't entertaining it was just straight forward bingo. I would be interested to find a more "fun" style to go to with our group before returning here for this one.

    Modern English

When we saw Modern English was coming we bought tix immediately - I had no idea where this venue was but we had to go to see them. What a fun place to see a band! Can we start with the bowling alley that's attached so if you don't like the music you can bowl? The venue is big enough that you don't feel cramped and it's like Jergel's where you can get up close and personal to see the band. Lots of tables and a huge bar area. We were able to find seats at the bar and ordered some delicious eats. You must get the bagouda balls - little deep fried balls filled with bacon and Gouda - amazing! The flatbread pizza was delicious too - we opted for the crafthouse flatbread - a nice shareable size. Boneless wings were good too - overall a nice mix of food that the 3 of us had more than enough to share. We will definitely be back for shows - fun venue and nice bartender

Who knew this great venue was tucked away in the middle of residential Whitehall!!? We arrived well after the doors opened/ show started and were able to find parking in the venue's lot, get in quickly, and move about the venue with ease. We were very impressed by the layout, service, and cleanliness. We attended a death metal show and enjoyed parts of the show from both near the stage and at the bar. Both experiences were equally enjoyable. Pro tip! If you don't think the show will sell out, buy your ticket upon arrival vs online. There was an 8 dollar service fee per ticket online that was not included in the fee when we purchased in person from the venue. We weren't planning to get food but I saw someone's nachos and was sold. Nachos have 2 options: chicken or pot roast, and pico or mango salsa. We selected chicken as our protein and pico de gallo. Highly recommended. Perfect for sharing and snacking during a show! Not sure why we waited so long to see a show here. We'll absolutely return for a show AND BOWLING.

Wow, is this place amazing! Came here with friends for a night out which I have not done for a very long time. We came out to celebrate a birthday which meant that it was the friend's choosing. The night we were here a Godsmack cover band was playing. To be aware, it can be extremely loud in here, but you should expect that if you were coming here to see a show. It is such a lively atmosphere in here. Customer service was spectacular and they somehow timed it just right to show up when we were in need. Our server allowed for us to chat amongst each other while we browsed over the menu. Once we were ready she was there to take our orders. I went with the Crafthouse Burger. This is a massive burger due in part of the toppings. I think we have to take a moment to acknowledge the fact that the burger patty is a mix of black Angus, chuck and short rib, which made for a hearty blend. For the Crafthouse you then take that patty and top it with their Crafthouse sausage, cheddar, pickle, onion straws, and BBQ sauce. I opted to to upgrade to tots, because...well tots. It took me some time to figure out how to unhinge my mouth so I could take a bite. Once I figured it out I was off to the races. It was definitely a stomach pleaser, bordering on a gut buster. The tots were a nice addition, I'm not sure the seasoning they put on them, but it was amazing. With the meal out of the way it was time to sit back and enjoy the rest of the night. Great selection of beer on tap and what they didn't have on tap they were able to supplement with bottles and cans. Full bar here, if a mixed drink is your thing, then they got your covered. I will definitely have to come back here because Crafthouse is just one part of the entertainment complex. There is so much to do under one roof.

Love this venue! Good food, good service, and great for the partner who wants to sit while you enjoy the show. Always down to see a concert here.

Wasn't very fond of this place. Service was not great the food was distasteful. Don't recommend for having a night out or dinner.

Well this is a hidden gem! We were here to see Modern English! ( who was amazing) 1. Venue is great to see a favorite band. You can be up close. Sound was great. Tons of tables & great bar to sit at & a small dance floor which is right by the stage! 2. Since we arrived early we took advantage of the awesome selection of beers on tap & food. My husband shared the wings with "The bomb" sauce. We requested them to be cooked a little more crispy( came out perfect) with the house cut fries, served with homemade beer cheese dip. Yum!! Then we had the "Short rib Ranchero" flat bread - very flavorful on great hand stretched dough. & the Bagouda Balls - ohhh my - crispy parm bread crumbs with the right amount of gouda & bacon . Service was wonderful. They were there whenever you needed them. We will definitely go back and see another show here! Also a little shout out to the opening band- Quiet hours - local band - you sounded great!

If you're looking for a great place to eat and listen to some music, then you need to check out this bar! The food here is top-notch, and the band playing tonight is incredible. I started off my meal with the buffalo chicken wings, and they were some of the best I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was just the right amount of spicy. For my main course, I had the steak sandwich, and it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the sandwich came with all the fixings. The band playing tonight is called The Booze Brothers, and they are incredible. They have a great sound, and they really get the crowd going. I danced all night, and I had a blast. If you're looking for a great place to eat and listen to some music, then this bar is the place for you.

I have previously heard of Truss and seen them around the community at different events, but was excited to finally try them at their storefront. Truss Brewing Company is located in Pleasant Hills, just off of Route 51. This building has been other businesses throughout the years before Truss took over. It is clearly marked and easy to locate. There is a private parking lot in the rear, but they will have it closed off and filled with tables during the summer months. However, there are other lots and parking options surrounding the building along Old Clairton if this is the case when you visit. We arrived just after 7:00, and the place was packed! They had the back parking lot closed off for seating, but luckily we found a spot right in front. There is no indoor seating here, as they advertise the business to be take-out only. Therefore, you can order online or through some delivery services if you truly are taking the order to-go. However, if you are "dining in," you can order at the counter inside. They will give you an order number, and then call the order number outside for you to come retrieve. First, we made our way inside to place an order. There was a decent line that went out the door, but we made it through that in about 10 minutes. Ordering was straight-forward, as the menu is not terribly long. For the beers, there were some different size options. Also, they sold reusable cans, crowlers, growlers, and mini kegs that can be brought back and refilled. In addition to the made-to-order food and beer, there are some snacks, grocery items, non-alcoholic drinks, and merchandise all for sale. After placing our order, we made our way to the back parking lot to find some seating. As stated, there was a live band performing and the place was pretty full. However, we did manage to get a table. There were picnic-style tables, as well as some bar-height seating. I also saw some patrons bring their own lawn chairs, so that is an option as well! The atmosphere outside was very lively. The music was good, there were a lot of groups socializing and having a good time, and there were some yard games set up on the one side of the lot. Definitely a nice spot to bring the family or meet up with some friends if the weather is nice. The wait from ordering to when we got our food was about 30 minutes. I know the food is prepared in-house, and is not generic restaurant pre-made-type food, so this is reasonable considering that. My fiance and I split a few dishes between us. We ordered the Chilled Colossal Shrimp, the Big Fat "Wings," and the Wood Fries Parm Crusted. The Chilled Colossal Shrimp came with 5 and a nice dipping sauce. I love cold shrimp, so this was my favorite dish. The Big Fat "Wings" are chicken drumsticks prepared like wings. Since it is a different cut, you get a lot of meat for your money. We ordered them with the buffalo sauce on the side as well. They were tasty, and again, a great way to make your dollar stretch for a lot of meat! The Wood Fries Parm Crusted are unique, as they are very thick cut. It is probably over a whole potato's worth of fries, so plenty to share. My fiance loves thick-cut fries like this, so he thought these were great. We enjoyed the food overall! For my beer, I ordered the Mortar, which is an American Brown Ale. I usually prefer a brown/red/amber-type of pour, so this was right up my alley. It was a nice sipper to have throughout the night. In terms of value, I think some items have a much better value than others. Specifically, I thought the fries and the chicken were very much worth the money. I personally did not order a pizza this trip, but some of those seemed to be slightly expensive to me personally. Despite that, you can make it worth your dollar depending on what you order and what you are looking for most. Since this place is take-out only, I truly did not have a ton of interaction with the staff, except for when I put my order in. I had no issues regarding this, though I feel as though I did not have enough interaction to make a comment on this aspect of the trip either way. Likely due to all of the seating being outside, the business is dog-friendly! We brought our dog, and he enjoyed socializing with the patrons and many other dogs who were there as well. This was a great place to spend a sunny August evening! I enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere at Truss. We loved the live music, and learned on this trip that they regularly hold a trivia night and other events as well. The only downside is that this experience is seasonal, and weather-dependent. However, the food and beer are available year-round, so you can give that a try anytime. I would recommend checking this place out with the warmer months quickly approaching!

I love any…read morekind of Bingo, and I saw on Facebook they were holding their monthly Bar Bingo on this night. So, I made my way on over. The Village TapHouse is located in the South Hills Village Mall area, but a little up the road from the actual mall. It is tucked away in the rear of the building located on the corner of Washington Road and North Highland Road. The business that is visible from the main intersection is Clubhouse Cards. If you follow North Highland past this entrance off of Washington, The Village TapHouse will be on your right. There is some limited parking right in front of the entrance. However, since there are a lot of other businesses around here, you can find other parking across the street or before the actual entrance, regardless of which direction. I had no issue getting a spot right across the street, and making the short walk over. I arrived that evening around 7:00 PM, as that is when the Bingo was slated to start. There were a good amount of people attending the event, as the indoor main dining area was pretty much full when I arrived! No issue for me though, as I was by myself. So, I found a seat at the bar. There were several other patrons sitting at the bar, but it was not shoulder-to-shoulder or anything like that. There is also some patio seating, but I do not believe the Bingo was heard out in that area. Once situated, I went up to buy my Bingo cards from the two hosts. They were set up in the main dining room, but were using microphones. I had no issue hearing them all night long from the bar. It was $10 for a pack of 3 cards, and I purchased 2 packs. They also had daubers for sale, but I brought my own to use. I waited around for the games to start once I bought my cards, which ended up being around 7:30 PM. It was also Pajama-themed Bingo, which I was unaware of until I arrived. This allowed you for a special perk for one of the games. I am not sure if they always do this, but I would advise participating in whatever theme is advertised to get the most out of your experience. There were a few bartenders serving this evening. The lady who waited on me was prompt and friendly the whole night. I started off with a pint of FireWistle Red. It was a solid red beer, and served as a nice sipper for my evening. As the Bingo went on, I decided to put in a food order. I ordered a Half Dozen Wings in the Chicken and Waffles Wet Rub. I thought this was a unique flavor, so I wanted to give it a try. I enjoyed the taste of these! They were split wings, but overall the size was serviceable. The plate also had several pieces of celery and ranch dressing to accompany the wings. The food here was fairly priced. For my 6 wings and beer pint, the total was around $15. It seemed from the menu that the majority of entrees were $15 or under, which I believe is a great deal. Overall, no complaints in terms of prices or value. I ended up staying here for nearly three hours in order to finish the Bingo games. So, I had plenty of time to take in the atmosphere. I enjoyed the people, staff, and the overall vibe of the place. The patrons were friendly, and the staff seem to recognize their regulars while having meaningful conversation. Plus, the Bingo games brought some fun and entertainment to the night overall. This first visit of mine to The Village TapHouse was a positive one. Very much enjoyed the people, atmosphere, food, and fun Bingo activities. I cannot believe with how close I live to here that it took me this long to give it a try. Now I am happy to know there is a spot like this practically in my backyard. I have seen on Facebook that they also have Trivia Nights, so that is something I want to check out in the future. Even though I did not win Bingo this time, it will not stop me from coming back and trying again. I would recommend stopping here for a meal, or a fun night of entertainment, if you find yourself in the South Hills Village area of town.

So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.
