I can't say I found anything completely inspiring or unusual but the basics of the kit you need were there. Brushes, Pencils, Card, Crafty bits and bobs....etc. The shop is reasonably priced and does have some nice quality materials.
Headingley don't have many arts and craft focussed shops around, but tucked up a back road,…read moreDisdale's is a resource for the artier of Headingley's residents. It is a traditional arts and crafts shops, selling quality materials in the way of fine paint brushes, drawing pencils of many kinds, quality paper meant for certain tasks etc. As I say in many other of my reviews, I prefer a more creative way of finding imaginative materials in unexpected places, rather than conforming to these sorts of traditional (overpriced) shops, but for what it is, it is a great thing to have in Headingley, away from the busy pub ridden road.

Really good art supplies shop. It's located across the road from both the college and university,…read moreso perfect for course materials. The prices can be quite high, but they are average for art materials, as they are generally expensive anyway. One really good point is they offer student discount if you attend college, you just need to show your college card when you make a purchase. Staff are friendly and helpful if you have any questions.

The staff in here are extremely knowledegable and will even order in special materials and papers if they're out of stock. They've got just about type of paint from Winsor to Newton and Rembrandt paints, brushes, chalks, gouaches, water colours and graphic supplies and a large range of papers and canvases. I've bought specialist 300gsm paper in here for a menu project and special mounting glue. I had help with the measuring and cutting free of charge and advice of mounting my images. I highly recommend this store.
Blyth Art Shop…read more Blyth's Art Shop seems like a serious sort of art shop for serious sort of artists. Everything is very ordered, neat and clinical. They've got great ranges of paints, pencils and pens, as well as a downstairs section with artist accessories like folders, paper and even natural light bulbs so you can paint in natural light late into the night. There's two or three staff around to help you with any queries you might have in my experience they've usually got the time and patience to help you out properly. I can't help feeling that Fred Aldous across Stevenson square isn't just lots more fun, more well stocked and generally more exciting though.

The staff are very helpful too and can help you find your way around the slightly disarrayed shelves. There is a large selection of cardboards and modelling materials, hobby and crafts supplies, and a wide selection of painting implements and pigments. However I wouldnt say that it is good value for money, as even nearby shops can have better prices on the same items (John E Wrights for drafting supplies and Trent Uni shop for all else) but if you bother to search online you will be rewarded with even better prices yet.
This shop closed years ago. It was very good but sadly nothing ever replaced it in town.read more

I use to go here when I was in school and needed my art stuff. I hated art but loved the stationary side of things. Bit geeky i know! But anyway, I would go in here for hours and buy everything I thought I needed but did not; such as pencils, pastels, paint, paper, brushes, frames and everything else. My mum would go mad as I spent a fortune! This shop is great and it is inexpensive if you buy only what you need! They have some unique cards too for that someone special and they offer printing services too.

You park at the side of the building (there are signs saying 'Craftzone Parking') and then walk back towards the road, and go into the building up the steep ramp. When you get to the top of the ramp, turn left and you're there! It's a massive craft shop and they sell just about everything - people travel miles to get here and it really is worth a trip. It's sometimes quite messy and there is so much stuff, so you really need to have some time in your hands to make the most of your trip! the staff are really friendly and will always give advice etc if you need it. They also do workshops, I'm not sure when but all the info will be on the website. Price wise it's pretty good value, but its the range of stuff thats really the best thing about the shop. Prepare to spend a fortune!!!!!!
