This store does feel a bit like a MacDonalds of all things arts and crafts -…read morebut once you get over the impersonal, chainstore feel, there's lots to spend your hard earned cash on! Personally I like the beading and jewellery-making selection, which is pretty impressive. Lots of glass beads, acrylic, copper wires, findings etc - and stuff to also make boy bling, like packets of shell beads, cord etc. The only real downside is the location, which is a bit of a walk from the city centre. Sure it's great if you have a car because there's loads of free parking. But if you're on foot, you do have to make a special trip in a rather wind exposed and unattractive part of town! As I don't live in Nottingham, when I do go there, I don't usually have a great deal of time to spend and have to rely on public transport and my feet to get from a to b. Consequently I tend to visit the central stores rather than make a special trip to the Lady Bay Retail Park. That's really the only downside.

I find myself wanting "one of everything" in the shop when I visit, so consider yourself warned! Located in the historic Lace District, it's only appropriate that Debbie also sells artworks featuring old lace patterns salvaged from a former local factory. There's many other artsy, cool and interesting shops & restaurants to be found close by in the 'hood so it's worth making an afternoon of it. Truly delightful!

The staff are very helpful too and can help you find your way around the slightly disarrayed shelves. There is a large selection of cardboards and modelling materials, hobby and crafts supplies, and a wide selection of painting implements and pigments. However I wouldnt say that it is good value for money, as even nearby shops can have better prices on the same items (John E Wrights for drafting supplies and Trent Uni shop for all else) but if you bother to search online you will be rewarded with even better prices yet.
