But something isn't necessarily better than nothing. We laid into our pizza like ravenous bears emerging from hibernation, and we ended up leaving a third of it for some vulturous billiards players. This was comically bad pizza; think Chef Boyardee on a cracker, topped with only the finest melted string cheese. You don't expect gourmet cooking late at night, but something's gone wrong if you and a few of your booze-numbed buddies can't polish off a mid-sized pie. Some of the other items on the menu might be a bit more palatable. Or edible. There were five or six draught beer taps, but all were wearing the ignoble crown of the plastic solo cup. I can understand a bakery running out of their best selling scones, or a seafood restaurant crossing off menu items as the evening proceeds, but how does a bar run out of beer?

Walked in through the back and sat wherever--booths, tables, bar, all open. Tons of beer options. I had the Mississippi Blonde--light and tasty. We split the pretzel loaf and smoked Mississippi Gold wings. You can get regular wings, but why would you? The smoked ones were amazing. Should've gotten 12 (you can do half smoked, half regular if you're into bad decisions). Could get loud with a big group, but great vibe overall. Would definitely come back for drinks--and more wings.

Bent River has a couple locations, with the other one in Moline. Probably the choices are better at that, but this one is better for live music and events. The prices are pretty comparable to other craft breweries it seems. A lot of times it's busy. It's especially busy on weekends and when there's live music. There's a large draft selection. It's about $7 a pint. Pretty good for local beers, so we got a few of these. Best of these last time here was the Q.C Haze, a hazy IPA. It's a strong ABV at 7.1%. There's also a pretty okay food selection. It's about $8 for shareable appetizers. The Chips And Salsa are good with anything to be honest. Great brewery that's also a restaurant where they also cook everything. It has many items as far as beer and food. The food is mostly limited to food trucks, but there's stuff like brisket and pretzels.

Boy were we glad we did. The food was PHENOMINAL! Don't judge a book by it's cover. It looks like nothing from outside, and the decor inside is very old and run down. But we kind of enjoyed the notalgia. Staff was so very friendly and prices were very reasonable. My daugther had the cheeseburger and said it was the best burger she's ever eaten! My sister and I had The Homestead. (Breaded chicken sandwich) It was phenominal as well. Especially the pickled onions. Think bread and butter pickles, but onions instead. Got to talk to the new owner who said she just bought it 2 weeks ago. We told her do not change the food. She said it was already a new menu since the last owner, so if you know the old menu and didn't like it - GO BACK AND GIVE IT A SECOND CHANCE! She also said they were going to remodel the place. We wish them the best of luck because when we come back next year for the music fest, this will be our first stop! Wish it was not 3 hours from our home, or we'd be regulars!

Blackhawk Bowl & Martini Lounge was a spontaneous stop during our time in Davenport, and it ended…read moreup being one of the most fun and unexpected highlights of the trip. We grabbed seats at the bar and started off with a round of drinks--Old Fashioneds and Martinis. Both were excellent. The bartenders here clearly take their craft seriously--my Old Fashioned was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and the Martini (classic gin, of course) was ice cold with a clean finish. Definitely not your average bowling alley cocktails. The space itself is a great blend of upscale lounge and casual fun. It's stylish without being pretentious, with a cool retro vibe and a welcoming crowd. We didn't bowl this time, but the lanes looked great, and it's definitely on the list for the next visit. The overall vibe was perfect for a laid-back evening with colleagues--plenty of energy, good music, and room to unwind without feeling rushed or crowded. If you're in Davenport and looking for a spot that mixes craft cocktails with something a little out of the ordinary, Blackhawk Bowl is absolutely worth checking out. Next time, I'm bringing my bowling shoes.

Have you ever bowled a 9 EVERY. SINGLE. FRAME?!?!?…read more Yeah, me neither. I did every single frame but one, which was a strike. How maddening. Had I not gotten that one strike I would have been convinced that one pin was glued to the floor. LOL. My company holiday party was held here on a Saturday night and we had a blast. (Note: the lounge is only open Wednesday-Saturday evenings, starting at 4PM.) Things that were great-- - The entire vibe. It had cocktail tables throughout and was perfect for mixing and mingling with coworkers. - Shoes. They weren't old and gross! Always a win in my book. - The convenience of having it at the bottom of the hotel and being able to partake/enjoy then just head up the elevator for a good nights sleep. - Pricing for walk-ins seems ok, $5 a game, $4 for shoes. (But call ahead and make a reservation and pay per hour at $35-$45?) - Staff. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. A couple things that wasn't on par-- - The food. We did a pizza bar and it was nothing to write home about. - As other Yelpers have mentioned, the cocktails were not that good. After having one martini I opted for an Aperol Spritz... and the bartender was reading the recipe off the back of the bottle. A for effort. - We rented the entire space for about four hours and half the lanes were out of order randomly? Kind of a bummer. - No Big Ten Network! - Finally, there was a sign that there was a private event at the entrance of the lounge but it wasn't posted anywhere on social. There were multiple groups that were kind of bummed to have driven there and parked to just have to go home. Overall a super fun time. I think if they made a few tweaks (updates, menu changes, etc) this place would be amazing. Overall, Blackhawk Bowl & Martini Lounge is worth a try!
