Best hot wings in town, friendly staff, and good drink for a good price. Place was clean and well lit.

Charming, friendly, lovely, must-visit tiki bar in downtown Moline…read more We tried beverages from both their regular and seasonal menus and also tasted 2 local rums. These are well-made drinks, and the seasonals are thoughtfully constructed. The slushies start out as NA, with the alcohol added upon order. When we were there, they had a house-made hot chocolate that included pineapple juice as an ingredient !!??! Delicious!! The staff opened early for a downtown Christmas event and handled the sudden and random appearance of groups with good cheer.

This place has exactly the kind of laid-back, low-lit atmosphere you want when you're just trying…read moreto relax with a great drink. The **Rum Old Fashioned** is a standout -- smooth, balanced, and just different enough to make it memorable. The whole bar setup, with its warm red lighting and island feel, is dialed in without being over the top. What really sets it apart, though, is the **flexibility**. You're encouraged to **bring in food from nearby local restaurants** -- not leftovers from home (just to be clear, lol). Grab tacos from **Los Agaves**, pizza from **Bad Boyz**, pad Thai from **LemonGrass Café**, or even a burger from **Rebellion Brew Haus**, and chill out on the patio with a drink in hand. That combo is tough to beat. **Matt and the team** are genuinely welcoming -- friendly without being pushy, and the kind of staff that makes the space even better. Monday **Happy Hour from 3:30-6** is a great time to stop in, but honestly, any day works. Whether you're local or just passing through Moline, Take Cover is absolutely worth a stop. Solid drinks, unmatched atmosphere, and no pressure -- we'll definitely be back.

I drove by the Wunder Y thousands of times before I knew it was a bar. I'm guessing my experience…read moreis not unique. There's no sign, just a few windows, and with parking in back, most people use the rear entrance. It wouldn't be difficult to mistake the place for something much shadier than what it is. That's not to say, however, that the Wunder Y is without a hint of shady charm. It's rather steeped in it, actually, a dive to the core. Its patrons have made it into somewhat of an underground Moline institution. I'd never heard anyone even mention the Wunder Y, but once my friends and I finally started making the trip, we couldn't go there without running into someone we knew. For this reason, I like to think of it as my own little speakeasy. It's a great place to run into classmates, your old minor league baseball coach, and people that you thought were dead. They're all down at the Wunder Y. The shuffleboard table is a big draw, and I've seen a few people get hustled with it, insofar as you can get hustled at shuffleboard. But if a couple old guys walk up and ask if you and your buddy are up for a game, it's a pretty safe bet that you're going to get your ass whooped. If you're just a spectator, ask if you can operate the ancient scoreboard. That thing's going to be on Antiques Roadshow some day. I should mention that I once hated the Wunder Y. It grows on you a little bit with each visit, though, like a nicotine addiction or a rash. Best dive in the Quad Cities, which is saying something.
