Came here to get my crab fix, they where completely out of male large crabs due too high demand. So I went with the medium male crabs instead, first time trying them. I got them steamed with seasoning and I must say they were surprisingly really good! Very fresh and meaty! Hopefully the next time I come they aren't out of the large male crabs but if they are I'll definitely get these again. They also have this garlic butter that is SO good! I went to the location as there are two. I ordered a Swai fish sandwich. The lady took out the fish and threw it into some giant closed machine. I later learned that she threw the fish in frozen. I took it home to eat and upon biting this sandwich it was inedible. It was like plastic. The flesh was hard and sort of rubbery. I will NEVER go here for ANYTHING as this experience was ridiculous. I figure if they are willing to sell that then they will most definitely allow lack and poor service in other areas. No bueno. I will stick with the Miller St location where I've never had a problem. Not what I was expecting at all. There is no place to sit down and there are 2 separate counters for ordering. I came for the blue crabs and was surprised by the extremely short wait time. I thought I'd made a mistake as asked the cashier to steam the crabs when she replied that they already were. It's a dollar for a small dipping cup of butter and it's very good. Made with garlic so I was happy. The crabs were fresh and seasoned well. I think they might put cinnamon in their spice. What ever it is, it gives the crabs a very distinct smell and taste. Entire place is a problem... well for me that is. I can't know there is bomb a** crab this close to me otherwise I'll be there weekly. So far I haven't been since memorial weekend but I will be back next week. Anyway, crab is rockin. Last time I had crab this good was at skipjacks in Maryland but the dusting is not as salty as the one I had in Maryland. I loved this place and I purchased from them often. Yesterday (01/27/2021) I purchased 1lb king crab legs with other items. Last night when I started to eat the crab legs it was slimy and smelling of ammonia. So I contacted the store to tell them about it. The person I spoke to asked if I still have them so being honest I told him I threw them in the garbage his reply was well I can't do anything about that and hung up the phone without even saying I'm sorry or anything. We got a dozen of steamed crabs and 2 lbs crawfish and that was more than enough for two people. Crabs were fresh and cooked to perfection, crawfish was very decent too! One complaint I have is that they put wayyyyy too much of cajun salt in the seafood that we had to wash off the seasoning off of the crabs. Very good seafood spot. I came on a Friday just to see what the prices were like and to check when the next shipments were. I liked the menu and let them know my order early. Came back the next morning, got my bag of crabs in about 20 minutes steamed fresh from the truck to the pan lol Whatever spices they use smells friggin amazing!!!! Most people don't like their car to have any seafood odor sitting in the seat but it was a highly fragrant and delcious bag. Oh man these crabs are seasoned to perfection. They don't douse the crabs with seasalt and o bay. The crabs were also heavy and the large female crabs that I ordered had plenty of crabmeat inside. For the past few years I have faithfully looked forward too ending my work week with a mad dash from Downtown JC to Miller Street in Newark to get my fave, large or jumbo males. However, as of late I have been VERY disappointed and must seek out another place to get my fix. After returning today to make my WEEKLY purchase, and to speak with management about the error made with my last order of large male crabs, although I was charged for them, (I was given medium sized dried-out females instead) I was very thankful that one of the owners was gracious enough to hear me out and attempt to right the wrong and make this crab lover happy again. Well I was wrong! I was there to purchase my usual large males and asked that he throw in a few extra crabs on the house for all of my trouble of having to drive 20 minutes back to your location to get what I paid for which he agreed. I get home and discover that I have two bags of crabs (mostly medium males/females with some being dried out and maybe 2 males). What happened to the 1/2 dz males that I paid for? I didn't ask for almost 1 dz medium sized crabs!!!! Guess i'll try Lindy's for now or somewhere else; and maybe I'll be back in the future and maybe I won't.
