I explained the situation to Response Crew and I was relieved to receive reassurances from the manager of Response Crew that he'd send one of his best door guys out and that we would not be disappointed. The manager also called back twice to make sure we were happy with the job. Although I missed those voice messages I figure posting about my experience here will make up for that. It's always tough when you are trying to hang a new door on an old frame that may not be perfectly straight anymore. And yes only time will tell if the fit holds. First, he was available on a HOLIDAY! Responded promptly & professionally. Super convenient as I had the day off & another home consultation scheduled for later in the afternoon. I had a small handful of tasks needing help/attention. He was prompt to respond & offered his rates/terms up front, no hassle & extremely easy to schedule with. While I did have materials on hand, he suggested they wouldn't be as sufficient in the long term, so I genuinely appreciated he came to inspect & then went to purchase any additional materials based on the consultation. ...and from there, I let him do his art! The entirety wasn't a big ask- 3 smaller tasks of replacing a closet dowel hanger, placing patio string lights & mounting a tapestry quilt. The biggest caveat of this was the kitchen pantry storage cabinet American Furniture delivered, needing assembly. I already knew this would not be possible for me to maneuver, solo. And, I am SO glad I decided to seek a professional to construct this because it took him a good minute! Even better, he went above & beyond to anchor this piece to the wall, seeing it was not fully sturdy due to the tile flooring pattern. He communicated arrival ahead. Had literally ALL of the supplies & materials needed on hand outside of what needed to be included in the consult. He worked independently & extremely quiet (aside from the necessary power tools)- I barely noticed! ...and absolutely acknowledged my senior kitty who curiously wanted to "supervise". The job did take a bit longer than anticipated, but that was due to the beast of pantry cabinet assembly. I am SO happy with the services & I feel like the hourly rate/pricing is definitely on par for the quality & expertise provided. And, he took diligence to haul any scraps/waste out to the dumpster- leaving literally no trace behind. It was very convenient paying via Zelle transfer. Cash is also accepted, cards have a 3% fee. I would highly recommend, and will be bookmarking to save this in my collection because I will most certainly seek Luis for any future handyman services. Still just VERY grateful he obliged coming out on the 4th of July to help with my home needs. The 5 stars certainly are accurate!

We reached out to Gary after buying a new house in Arcadia a while back and he told us that whenever we were ready he could help us with installing ceiling fans, blinds, and whatever we may need (score!) but when we called him back to schedule something he was sick and told me he would call me back in a week. A week goes by with no phone call, so I call him-- but no answer... and his vm is full. so I waited a couple more days and called him again, still no answer; so this time I followed up with a text asking if he was still interested in helping us out with our handyman needs and he replied yes and to let him know when we would like him to come help. Perfect! I called him when I got back to Phoenix and he didn't answer (of course), so I texted asking when he was available and he asked if he could schedule me in for between 1-2pm on Thursday. Yes I replied, then I texted asking him a couple questions about estimates for hanging large blinds and included photos. He ignored my texts that night about the quote/estimate altogether, so I texted asking if he received my messages requesting an estimate to which he replied "Yes, I'll look at them when I'm at your house." (Not really an answer or estimate- kind of slippery). So today rolls around and of course I'm at home waiting on this handyman to show up (of course I organized my day around him) 14 minutes before he was due for our appointment, he cancels. He says: "Can we meet Saturday 9-930? Caught up in work." (No apology for the inconvenience, or wasting my time, just a crap text). Me: "You know Gary, let me talk to my boyfriend about it. After reading your Yelp! reviews we expected a little more professionalism to be honest." He says: "Well I've been sick for the last month and been out of commission. I've been trying to catch up on my jobs. Sorry if you feel that way. I know I can't make everyone happy. Me: "It's not a feeling. You cancelled 15 minutes before you were scheduled to show up and have been unresponsive and not very communicative with me. Those are facts. While I understand it's impossible to make everybody happy, you could do a much better job by being a little more professional. Then-- radio silence. Gary, you can make customers happy; how about apologizing when you're wrong and unprofessional instead of #1: making excuses, then #2: blaming me, or acting like I'm the one with unrealistic expectations when I've accommodated the date and time YOU chose and then flaked on.
