But they're always running late worse than a Dr office. Even first thing in the morning. So I wait from 30 min to a hr together started. Then all the reparative paper work. It's getting old fast. I haven't quit yet. Because I know blood is needed.

While I was a little ticked to find out that there wasn't a class in the SLC area in all of March, I hoofed it out to Provo to their Red Cross class. The facility isn't much to write home about, but they have all the equipment to get top-flight training. Their training is "blended", meaning you spend most of the time learning online, then you come to class to put into practice what you've learned. The training was conducted by Ted Bisping, who did a good job not just with the material, but "real-life" scenarios he had personally experience. We spent half the class in expanding on the basics, the second practicing scenarios. Of course, there was work on the CPR dummies (clean, shiny, and brand-spanking new!) You really have to put this part in action because there's a lot of physicality when giving around 100 compressions a minute! For the First Aid, we worked with partners on treating severe wounds. Bloody good training, so-to-speak. They also had a baby / child CPR section that used baby dummies. I was also a little ticked the thing was scheduled for an hour, and it ran 90+. After getting out of the stuffy room and home and getting my certificate, I was a little more pleased with the whole experience. Move over Fray, the Red Cross is the best place to learn How To Save A Life.

I paid Utah EMT Academy for EMT training expecting a clear path to Utah licensure. After completing…read morethe course and passing the required exam(s), I was later informed that my licensure approval was delayed due to issues with the program and that I would need to complete additional in-person psychomotor training hours at another approved training center--at extra time and cost. When I asked for updates and requested a refund, I did not receive one. After disputing the charges through my bank, I received threatening emails demanding payment and referencing potential legal action and reports to credentialing/licensing bodies. I'm sharing this so prospective students ask very specific questions up front about Utah authorization/compliance, psychomotor requirements, and the refund policy in situations where students can't move forward as expected. I can't recommend this program based on my experience.

I was originally enrolled in the October EMT class at Utah EMT Academy. That class was delayed by…read morean entire month because the state allegedly needed to "review" it. By the time the academy finally received approval, the delay made it unrealistic for me to continue with that course. Alex, the owner, then offered October students the option to switch to the January class, which I accepted. From that moment on, Utah EMT Academy effectively disappeared. Despite repeated follow-up emails, I received no response from Alex and no response from the course coordinator. No enrollment confirmation. No start details. No explanation. Nothing. Eventually, I checked the academy's website for clarity, and I found that the January class had been removed from the posted schedule entirely, making the lack of communication even more concerning. It later became clear that the class had already begun without any notice to me, making participation impossible. This is not a minor administrative oversight. This is gross negligence and complete disregard for students' time, money, and career plans. An EMT program--of all things--should understand the importance of accountability and communication. Utah EMT Academy appears incapable of providing either. Students should not have to continue to ask for basic information, nor should they be forced to repeatedly email just to be acknowledged. The silence from leadership and staff speaks volumes about how this academy operates.

We all bleed red!…read more The "red" of our blood is our bond that every human being shares a connection with. Within every human, our blood has categorized variables that make us all different of course, but we should celebrate the similarities that we form throuhthis togetherness for us all. Will you bleed for a complete stranger that you don't know. The gift of your blood can deliver life to some unknown individual that you don't even know. It could even save someone's life. They say money can buy you happiness, or maybe some happiness until the money runs out. Money cannot replace or buy you blood. The donation of blood is a selfless act that one performs because they care. I donate blood because it's what you do for your fellow humans. The only way to make more blood if the reserves run out is from the individual to your right or too your left. Complete strangers that unite in kindness! What's the process of donating blood one might ask? There is a huge call to take my blood, what is involved in the process. Does it hurt? Can anyone do it? You know the basics: We all come in different shapes and sizes so come as you are. Short, tall, thin, a little thick; it's all good it's what's on the inside that really truly ever matters. Here's the crash course to giving blood. You need to be an over all healthy individual. Health is not measured by weight either. One needs to practice a good diet for you need to meet certain iron levels to be able to give blood. When you get through the paperwork process, where they ask you all this intimate questions they will take a pint of your blood. They need a minimum of 12.5 mg/dL of iron, so that you don't fall over and pass out after giving your life to someone else. We don't need anyone hurting after the donation. Your blood pressure needs to be below 159/80. Anything higher than that can hurt your own health. If you take blood pressure pills to regulate you that's not a deferral. I take high blood pressure pills to regulate me. As thin as I am if I stop taking these pills my blood pressure jumps Sky Ward, because it's in my heritage from my mama. They allow this. Another thing for those of us that crave the artistic beauty of the needle if you are tattooed, a year must has to pass before you can help another with the gift of your blood. The act of compassion and joy that comes from helping out total strangers has been said to be contagious. Those that you help, or pay it forward too; go help twice the amount of people. It is this revolutionary system that we all need to participate in to make the world a more wonderful place. Knowing this why are you still sitting there. Go get on your little computer, and Google the website: AmericanRedCross.org. This site will inform you where you can donate, you can even make an appointment to donate blood in your area. So many resources can be located on this one website. All at your finger tips so much info. Happiness is a kind click away. Today, I have given the breath of life to another whom I will never meet. Many many wonderful individuals came together on this fourth pre weekend day to ensure that others are taken care of. My donation was handled by a team located in Utah, which traveled all the way to Vegas to coordinate here at the Veil, and the Silverton Hotel to organize and participate in this drive. We are all to be treasured and your gift of kindness is the most important thing that you can do for another. True happiness is not something you can explore or experience without showing the world acts of kindness. Sure kindness can be spread in many ways, be sure and find how you can achieve your happiness and enjoyment. No act or amount of kindness is ever too little. Don't try and be that one that brags. Kindness comes from that special spot in your soul. It feeds the heart and gives us special strength. Id like to close this review by a beautiful quote from Saint Basil: "A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love."
