I paid Utah EMT Academy for EMT training expecting a clear path to Utah licensure. After completing the course and passing the required exam(s), I was later informed that my licensure approval was delayed due to issues with the program and that I would need to complete additional in-person psychomotor training hours at another approved training center--at extra time and cost. When I asked for updates and requested a refund, I did not receive one. After disputing the charges through my bank, I received threatening emails demanding payment and referencing potential legal action and reports to credentialing/licensing bodies. I'm sharing this so prospective students ask very specific questions up front about Utah authorization/compliance, psychomotor requirements, and the refund policy in situations where students can't move forward as expected. I can't recommend this program based on my experience. read more

I was originally enrolled in the October EMT class at Utah EMT Academy. That class was delayed by an entire month because the state allegedly needed to "review" it. By the time the academy finally received approval, the delay made it unrealistic for me to continue with that course. Alex, the owner, then offered October students the option to switch to the January class, which I accepted. From that moment on, Utah EMT Academy effectively disappeared. Despite repeated follow-up emails, I received no response from Alex and no response from the course coordinator. No enrollment confirmation. No start details. No explanation. Nothing. Eventually, I checked the academy's website for clarity, and I found that the January class had been removed from the posted schedule entirely, making the lack of communication even more concerning. It later became clear that the class had already begun without any notice to me, making participation impossible. This is not a minor administrative oversight. This is gross negligence and complete disregard for students' time, money, and career plans. An EMT program--of all things--should understand the importance of accountability and communication. Utah EMT Academy appears incapable of providing either. Students should not have to continue to ask for basic information, nor should they be forced to repeatedly email just to be acknowledged. If you are looking for your EMT certification, DO NOT GO HERE. The state has an active investigation into this facility and this so called "educational" program. To put it simple, i was a student of UEMTA. Felt like I had learned a lot, turns out I wasn't. Wasn't confident enough to show off my skills and knowledge of the EMS world. To add on, late notices, staff showing up late, programs and websites that ALEX has access to, down for 2+ weeks, then proceeds to kick 85% of the students that have "failed to meet the standard." If this is what you're looking for? Have fun with 1,200 dollars down the drain and waste of time. Do not pay for the CPR training in his class, he will scam you of your money. He will make you out to be the enemy when you are defending yourself on the money you have spent. apparently he has been doing this for years taking others money and not sending CPR cards to his students. I don't know about you guys but a shady teacher is not a good one to have. I will be reporting his actions to the state to end what he has done to many others, you have been warned. read more

The instructor/owner was inappropriately flirting with me, a student ~15 years his junior, over social media. Ironically, he was bashing other EMT schools for harassment scandals on our first day of class. He was late every single day. The earliest he arrived once was 5 minutes late, but every other day he was 20-45 minutes tardy and would come quite literally speeding in his truck to the building. He also sent me a goofy video showing off his watch and revving his truck while he was driving through an intersection. Aren't fire fighters/paramedics supposed to be setting an example on the road? One time he was over an hour late, making all of us wait outside no matter the weather. I don't get why he didn't just schedule the class 30 minutes later in the day instead of wasting all of our time because our class clearly didn't work with his schedule. Once we all finished the class, he promised us we would be able to register for the state exam within a week at the absolute latest. Turns out, we weren't able to register for this licensing exam for over a month. He wasn't returning any of my class's calls, emails, or messages during this entire time. Some of us figured that he scammed us at this point, but he ended up telling us that "the state was having an issue filing things". Not sure why I don't believe that or why he couldn't have provided us an update right away. I had a potential employer I interviewed with waiting for me to take this exam, and I ended up losing the position because I wasn't able to give them a timeline on when I would be completely certified. Nobody wore masks, maybe 20 people in the class at a time- at least the online version was offered. He also never told us why we had to pay $75 for a psychomotor exam that we never had to take, even though multiple students asked. I would never go back, he makes me feel far too uncomfortable. Oh, and if you're just looking to stop at the EMT-B level (and don't have a great connection to a recruiter), I wouldn't waste your time and money in general. 97% of jobs out there require an EMT-A. read more
