That's the only reason there's any stars at all. I'm sorry but I really need to review this class and Red Cross needs to not use this location until it can be fixed. (Anaheim LOCATION) They do not separate BLS from the regular CPR for civilians. And it was NOT good. There was not enough equipment for everyone (including the BLS professionals). It was extremely rushed. The children, infant and First Aid portion was rushed to the max. I have taken a how to on tourniquet before and it was not enough information given during this part. I'm a civilian and I'm not prepared even though I'm now technically certified. I literally need to retake. There was no skills review section for civilian which is concerning, doesn't Red Cross want certification to mean anything? My husbands class at another location had a skills review. And it wasn't rushed like this. The BLS test was being administered at the end when civilian video was going on. It was difficult to follow the video with the q & a from the BLS. Plus the stop start and not finishing parts of the video make it extra hard to follow. And I'm assuming taking a test with video blasting isn't great for the professionals. Note for content to Red Cross, why doesn't the anaphylaxis portion tell you to use the opposite leg for the second dose of epinephrine? That's basic information and as someone who carries epinephrine I'm actually angry Red Cross doesn't include that information?! It's literally dangerous. Don't include it at all if you can't do it properly. *Edited to add I did NOT sign up for the one that says combined. I signed up for this " ARC Adult Child and Infant CPR AED and First Aid Full Class". No BLS mentioned.

She also helped my son become more independent with eating, which was something he really needed encouragement in. In the afternoons, when Ms. Elin left, other wonderful teachers stepped in to provide care -- Ms. Silvia, Ms. Christine, Ms. Mary, Ms. Marie and Ms. Nour. My son knows and loves them all. When I once asked my son if there was any teacher he liked the least, his answer was, "no," which says it all!) Last but certainly not least, Ms. Virgine is an incredible director. My son was both a Covid baby (super shy) and a preemie, so I had extra concerns as a first-time mom. One of the main reasons I chose LPG was the smaller class sizes, so he wouldn't be overwhelmed. I took a BLS course here and its was organized and efficient. Not only did the course not run over it ended early. They have small class sizes (max 9) so each student received individual attention on their performance. The instructor Fred was informative and he clearly highlighted the core skills needed to become certified. They accept all types of payments(except personal checks) which was very convenient. read more

It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. For the most part, she received quality care. It was the horrible care she received an acute care facility, that motivated me to pursue a career as a health care advocate for seniors. The seniors without family and friends received subpar care and treatment. I was at the facility daily and had to pull teeth to insist on her getting the bare minimum care. My employment background is mostly in transportation and finance. I cared for my mom and received a 40 hour a month salary for 24 hours a day care as an IHSS provider. I wanted to expand my resume and become a Certified Nurse Assistant as well as a Certified Home Health Care Provider. My goal is to have a few clients to assist from home to the hospital. I needed an online school that would allow me to have days free to address probate, financial and grief therapy concerns. I googled CNA schools in the Riverside county area and selected McKallen Medical.The knowledge I obtained at McKallen not only broadened my natural patient centered care instincts, it provided me with additional tools, resources and knowledge that has opened my heart and soul. I enrolled in the CNA course 4 months after my moms death. I was stuck in the bargaining stage of grief. I was being triggered by some of the lessons. It was a daily barrage of " if I could of, would of, should of" mental gymnastics. Logically, I knew that I did not have the knowledge to know what steps could have made a difference in my mothers care. However, in the midst of grief, you are filled with guilt and despair. After my first week of theory, I notified administration and told them I was struggling with the course. Tre Green, was not only understanding, he was compassionate and empathetic. He advised me to take as much time as I needed and pursue the course when I was ready to move forward. Eventually I re-started the course with Instructor Mary Montantes-Peck. She was a SUPERB INSTRUCTOR. She is passionate, knowledgeable and engaged. She is the prime example of passing on to others what she embodies as a human being. I am a firm believer that we give to the world, the skills, values and growth mindset that we have. Mary's knowledge about resident/patient care comes from a deep compassionate core. Alex Portillo, the clinical instructor, was great as well. Alex made what could have been a high stress environment into a calm, smooth and knowledgeable experience. There were a few issues with the skills lab training, so this is the reason for a 4 star review. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. I am deeply grateful and appreciative for what McKallen Medical Training provided. I would highly recommend the school to all potential enrollees. Just go in with an open heart and mind and you will reap the benefits and rewards.

The professors were excellent and always pushed us to become the best versions of ourselves. The front desk staff worked tirelessly to keep everything in order, and they always made an effort to decorate for holidays like Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They did a beautiful graduation for us as well. I was fortunate to have a small class, and over time, we became like a second family. The friendships I made here will last a lifetime. As for the Director of Nursing (DON), Ms. Assima, I know some reviews describe her as strict, but I see it differently. She has a strong and passionate teaching style, always pushing students not to give up and never to be lazy. Her focus is on education and success, and she truly wants every student to pass. The fact that she never dropped a single student speaks volumes she's not just about the money, as some people in reviews suggest. She genuinely cares about her students and has a big heart for helping people. Now, about the program itself wow! It was intense, with five days of classes per week for nearly a year. You have to be mentally prepared for that level of commitment and willing to put in the work. Studying hard is a must, and the ATI... oh boy, that's a beast!
